I would say luck plays an important role.
My MBP mid 2010 lasted for 10 years without issue, while my friend's MB white charger spoilt within first year of usage.

QUOTE(Grajindo @ Jan 11 2020, 03:17 PM) but my way of thinking is, apple product would have good quality control so the chance of getting defect unit is not that high, therefore i'm not getting the AppleCare+ given the extra cost as well. I agree with you on the stringent quality control and assurance of apple products especially their laptops and phones when Steve Jobs were around. Apart from Apple products, I vouched for thinkpad's optimized and secure software with good quality control and assurance of the hardware implemented 5 years ago. Now, thinkpad series too have their fair share problems. my previous experience with apple product with the original macbook to mbp were both very positive which had lasted me over the past 10 years. now that the MBP is so expensive compared to other laptop out there, i wouldn't be expecting this to happen actually. given that there's so many issue with the newly design mbp now, it doesn't justify why should i be continuing to use MBP anymore. thinking about it, if i'm going to replace the display now, i would still having the same problem in another year or so since the problem is rooted in the design itself. i know some people is actually arguing that the problem is because wear and tear, but to me it's not definitely wear and tear. when i buy laptop I expect that i would able to close and open the screen for lots of time and I am pretty sure my usage now is very minimal compared to others since most of the time my MBP is acting like a CPU connected to external display. or maybe in other words, i'm not that loaded to maintain the MBP after paying almost 9.5k for it I guess it has dawned upon us that current day to day machines and equipment are having forced-obsolescence with lower reliability, so that customers will upgrade or buy new. Lesson learnt for me: either extend your warranty or save up your money to buy new machines only when the repair cost / total repair cost hits the purchase price of the machine. |

QUOTE(afiqsabri @ Jan 15 2020, 06:08 PM) No link. Go to apple website, select buy apple care. Apple will call u, tell the amount. If agree, they will send by email ask you to click the link to pay. Pay via credit card then you are done. After one day, receipt and applecare activated based on your mac book serial number that you registered. I did that after 3 month using it. Worry that it spoil after a year.. So I just bought applecare to worry free for an additional 2 years. Now just passed a year +, so my mac book protected by applecare warranty right now. |
