I have both Proton and Perodua. (driving Persona)
And I love both. Each has it's own advantage.

Myvi - City drive, fuel saving
Persona - Long drive, stability and comfortable

get what you like. and to those haters saying Proton is tin kosong and always breakdown. i would say thats total BS. whenever my friends say my Preve & persona is not safe, i'll challenge to a headon collision and see who die first.

Hi all, just want to know your opinion on which one of these car should I be getting, my budget is around 40k so I'm looking at the Proton Persona Standard 2018 with Auto transmission and also the Perodua Bezza Premium Xconfused.gif
I went for a test drive the other day and I prefer the feeling and responsiveness of the Persona but I like the little things on the Bezza such as the keyless entry and push start button. I know that I can change out the radio unit for the one with reverse camera but I'm not sure if I can add the push start button or even remote trunk opening function. Anyone with knowledge on this please chime in as well. Any opinion will be greatly appreciated.  notworthy.gif
Also I'm on the wary side since Proton's reputation has not been the best? If that make sense anyway  hmm.gif

My rules are simple. Identify your objective first.

If comfort, reliability, enjoy driving = go for Proton Persona
If FC & cheap installment = go for Perodua Bezza

Gone are the days of Proton's reputation on the bottom hole. They're actually reliable and responsive now.
I heard more of a Perodua's cars breakdown nowadays compared to Proton's.

But the choice, is all yours smile.gif

Proton is better now from the reviews I read. Its not perfect but definitely better.

I would suggest you consider the element of safety which many Malaysians dont. Accident can happen anywhere and it may be due to others. When it happens, for that moment you wish your car can protect you. With proton you have that piece of mind. Trust me with your loved ones in the car , you would want that.

No doubt the RV is lower, but you can put a value to the well being of your loved one.

I booked my proton iriz. I yearn for the new myvi LED headlamp and EEV engine. But safety is my top priority hence the proton iriz.

honestly, i've own a saga BLM, saga 1.6FLX SE, and currently driving a 2017 persona

i did not encounter any major problems with all 3, and my only complaint was the terrible NVH (which is much much better in the new persona)
i have drive both the myvi and bezza as well

If you want better FC with keyless, by all means go for the bezza.
But persona is pretty decent for driving and is way more comfortable compared to the bezza.
IMO i dont think keyless is a deal breaker, but similarly to your comment about adding keyless or boot release, you cant easily get the comfort and safety "added" into the bezza as well
Just my 2 cents

Both cars suck
Bezza lightweight small tires easy loose traction
Persona small interior design, heavy chassis lead to more fuel consumption

I myself own a Persona, and my girlfriend owns a 1.0L Bezza. I frequently drive both of these cars. This is my humble opinion/comparison.

Bezza:
Pros:
-Bezza is more nimble, easy to cut here and there.
-Better FC versus Persona
-Throttle is more responsive (very little delay between you stepping on the pedal and the engine revving)
-Very nice boot, Persona's is slightly bigger (i think), but Bezza's boot has a more practical shape
-Driver's field of vision is very good
-Aircon quite cold, even on low settings

Cons:
-Bezza tends to be deflected easily when driving at medium to high speed (eg due to bumps in the road)
-Not so comfortable seating (especially for slightly bigger people)
-No temperature gauge, only got indicator for low and high temp (personally can't accept)
-Very long queue to get your car

Persona
Pros:
-Excellent handling and ride quality (the reason I chose the Persona over the Bezza in the first place)
-Comfortable seating
-Car is more stable at high speeds
-For going up slopes, CVT is a godsend (CVT haters please dont kill me)
-Aftersales service is quite good, I really feel that Proton is trying to do better

Cons:
-Throttle lag
-Higher fuel consumption
-Reverse sensors suck, quite hard to reverse this car (can be solved by installing reverse camera)
-Infamous rattling sounds here and there, but it's just dashboard and stuff, wont affect car performance

Hope this helps with your decision.
Nevertheless, both are good cars. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.

Persona - ugly, but Bezza is no beauty queen material. So, it's a tie here.

Persona - you need to adapt to the clutch-based CVT.
Bezza 1.3 - lousy pick up and throttle lag. You floor the throttle to overtake but you only hear the engine roaring. Seconds later, power slowly builds up.

Safety - Persona should win.

I would say use bezza for 5 years and sell with good rv to a better car. Honestly don’t settle on things like safety. Of course due to budget constraints and gov’s Policy on cars, we don’t get to have safer cars at our preferred price points but yea..... even a second hand jap c segment or d segment could be afforded later on in life.

Hang in there with this car, when u sell, what you get back could help you with the down payments a little.

for FC, you can go for bezza, can reach 400km per tank for me, city drive from jalan kuching to midvalley area, everyday jam.

but personally i think really depends on your luck, i got a 2016 bezza, 1st day get the car, rear passenger door rattling, of course no 1-to-1 exchange, so go back to service center.
No suprise, i went to 6 service centerSSSSSS, checked and claimed the door is fixed, this morning still rattling.

Few more issues:
-HU auto reset once a week, need to adjust my FM and time again and again, went to SC and complain, of course they say : tested no reset cant warranty, great. changed new HU by myself from lazada.
-aircond rattling when cruising at 1k rpm.. rattle for 5 minutes every morning then gone. when i reach SC, the sound gone. SC say cant check if the sound gone. trip from my home to nearest SC is 8 mins, by the time reach SC the sound gone. dafuq can i do?
-and of course, un-avoidable rattling noise all over the boot, speedometer, here and there.

what can i say, luck.
