Hi all, just want to know your opinion on which one of these car should I be getting, my budget is around 40k so I'm looking at the Proton Persona Standard 2018 with Auto transmission and also the Perodua Bezza Premium X. I went for a test drive the other day and I prefer the feeling and responsiveness of the Persona but I like the little things on the Bezza such as the keyless entry and push start button. I know that I can change out the radio unit for the one with reverse camera but I'm not sure if I can add the push start button or even remote trunk opening function. Anyone with knowledge on this please chime in as well. Any opinion will be greatly appreciated. Also I'm on the wary side since Proton's reputation has not been the best? If that make sense anyway

If that make sense anyway Yes you can...juz that you might want to keep your warranty intact since you are buying a Proton...problem with Proton is after sales...so unless you’re lucky, be ready to spend time and energy in place of the money saved throughout your ownership...there’s always a reason a B segment car costs similar to a A segment... Else, you can settle for the Bezza for better fuel efficiency and less headache with service centre and quality...

By yes I can I assume you meant I can add things like the push start button and remote trunk release?

Perhaps you can enlighten us what you plan to use the car for.
You are comparing two different segments, also one has a 1.3l engine and another a 1.6l.

eventually you will get bored with those features. Most important for the car is the reliability, the performance of the car instead. Any car can add push start button, and the button is widely available in the accessories stores too. Go and test drive both car, let pick the feeling of the car you like the most

Just day to day use as a mean of transportation. Although there's a small chance that I would need to go to genting for work reason, but mainly just driving in urban/sub-urban places.

As for reliability, that is one of the reason I created this thread as I've heard not so good things about Proton in the past but I'm not sure if they've improve lately. I guess I should mention that my father used to own a Wira and that car needs repair/maintenance every other month, but that was more than 10 years ago.

Nobody Know how reliable the new Persona is, and is very unlikely as reliable as Perodua. After all, Bezza is categorised as EEV, save your petrol too where urban drive really need this feature. and actually the new Persona doesn't look good as the previous version of Persona. Just my cent...

But features such as push start will definitely need wiring works to be done and that will void a new car warranty. So if you really prefer small little features over a bigger and sturdy car, then go for Bezza, although imo its doens't make any sense to compare 2 different cars from different segment. I own a persona standard cvt. Over a year old now. So far so good. No issues. Aftersales service is alright. Just stick to the branches and don't go to dealers, to be safe.

QUOTE(theanswer @ Jul 10 2018, 08:30 AM) 2009 is the old one. we're talking about new persona. I do not think the quality can get any worse than 2009. However, the body shape is ugly.

Go for Persona. Reliability is not an issue for current model.

Every now and then comes out this comparison between Proton and Perodua, and there are always Proton haters with their "Proton cars need to goto workshop every month/frequently" backwards mentality. Gone are those Saga / Wira days of poorer workmanship.
I have both Proton and Perodua. (But not driving Persona) And I love both. Each has it's own advantage.
Current Proton is built half conti tech & parts and half local.
And if one were to comment about Proton having to go back workshop frequently. I say, thats nonsense. My Proton until today is 4 yrs old, only goes to the workshop for regular maintenance (i.e Oil change). Thats all. And for those whining about Proton's CVT realibility, mine also CVT. Not even CVT light comes on. Hasn't breakdown on me, even on long distance trip to Singapore and back.
Okay, let me share my opinion. if you want solid handling and willing to sacrifice abit of FC, then Persona.
If FC is your utmost priority, then go for Bezza.
Dont let those premium accessories poison you. A car is to bring you from A-B. Anything else is extra.
