QUOTE(Super Maniam @ Jul 10 2018, 01:21 PM) Hi Guys, total apple tv noob question here. Do you think its possible to use the Apple TV 4k as a mobile workstation for light computing needs? Light computing in terms of media streaming and gaming from appstore, yes. But for productivity, not possible. TVOS is different from iOS. Only media streaming apps and games are avaialable in TVOS appstore. You're better off with an ipad for productivity in apple ecosystem. This post has been edited by pokjak: Jul 10 2018, 04:12 PM

Was thinking about this as my ipad was already aging but looks like no go.

Besides Netflix and movies from iTunes, you can also stream 4K movies from your NAS. I use Infuse which supports 4K and HDR (no support for Dolby Vision yet).
Only "problem" with Apple TV 4K is the lack of support for Youtube 4K HDR. If I'm not mistaken, it plays Youtube in 1080p only which is a shame.

I have using ATV 4k since March 18 and enjoy every second on it. Using smartdnsproxy to access Netflix, Hulu, HBO, STARZ etc using directv premier share account. However, anyone know how to access itunes store from other account without changing the account. I am sign in with my US itunes to enable siri and TV apps but cannot access the movie that i have purchased using Itunes Malaysia account. Tried Itunes family sharing but seems not accessible by US itunes account. So normally what i did is changing my account from US to Malaysia everytime I want to access the purchased content from Malaysia account. Not a major issue though but perhaps even better if I can use 1 account but can access purchased item from other account.

ATV 4K should be at the top of the list with Nvidia Shield since the former could also side installed with Kodi.

You can watch the latest movies & older movies from Astro on Demand at RM10 only. Got Malay, Chinese & English substitles also. Much cheaper compare from Apple TV at RM12.90. All latest Smart TV also got Netfllix, Amazon Prime & Youtube preinstall. So why bother buying Apple TV ?

Because Apple TV RM12.90 is owned by you and it is 4K with Dolby Vision. Apple TV Netflix processing is very good. This post has been edited by gogo2: Sep 27 2018, 12:24 PM
