Egypt denies report of Rafale fighter aircraft crash

user posted image

QUOTE
Egyptian military officials have denied some Russian media claim that Dassault Rafale fighter aircraft crashed.

On 29 January, some Russian media claimed, with reference to Egypt source, that a Dassault Rafale fighter aircraft of Egypt Air Force has crashed during a routine training mission.

Later Egyptian military officials categorically denied Russian media reports and stated a possible provocation against the background of the started phase of negotiations on the purchase of an additional 12 Rafale fighter jets for Egypt’s air force.

The Arab Republic of Egypt could sign a new deal with Dassault Aviation to purchase an additional twelve Rafale fighter aircraft.

On 16 February 2015, France agreed to deliver 24 Rafale fighter jets (16 two-seaters and 8 single-seaters) to Egypt at a cost of $5.9 billion in order to equip its Air Force with a latest-generation multirole fighter capable of meeting the country’s operational requirements and enabling Egypt, with full sovereignty, to secure its geostrategic position in the region.

In June 2016, Egypt started negotiations with Dassault to acquire 12 additional Rafales which was an option on the original contract. But Egypt has been facing opposition from the French Treasury to obtain the same favourable financial package it obtained for the original order.

Later the Scramble Magazine has posted that a K-8E Karakorum jet trainer of the Egypt Air Force has crashed on 28 January 2019. The pilot was unfortunately killed in the accident.

Initially it was reported that a Dasault Rafale was involved in this accident, but this appeared to be incorrect. It is reported that the pilot of the unfortunate K-8 was a Rafale pilot. He was one of the first Egypt pilots flying the Rafale.

Pakistan captures two pilots after Indian warplanes shot down

user posted image

QUOTE
Pakistan’s air force said it has shot down two Indian warplanes after they crossed the boundary between the two nuclear-armed rivals in the disputed territory of Kashmir, with two Indian pilots being captured.

The civil aviation authority in Pakistan later shut all airspace in the country to commercial flights.

The dramatic escalation came hours after Pakistan said mortar shells fired by Indian troops from across the frontier dividing the two sectors of Kashmir killed six civilians and wounded several others.

Pakistan’s army spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor said Pakistani troops on the ground captured the pilots.

He added that one of the downed planes crashed in Pakistan’s part of Kashmir, while the other went down in Indian-controlled section of the Himalayan region.

The injured pilot is being treated at a military hospital. Maj Gen Ghafoor said the pilots are being treated well, but made no mention of them being returned to India.

He struck a conciliatory tone, saying: “We have no intention of escalation, but are fully prepared to do so if forced into that paradigm.”

Indian air force spokesman Anupam Banerjee in New Delhi said he had no information on Pakistan’s statement.

IAF jets shoot down Pakistani drone that crossed border in Rajasthan

user posted image

QUOTE
The Indian Air Force shot down an unidentified flying object that was detected over the Indo-Pak International Border in Rajasthan. Top defence sources said that the unidentified aircraft, likely a drone, entered Indian airspace this morning.

The Indian Air Force scrambled fighter jets in response. The jets shot down the Pakistani aircraft with air-to-air missiles.

Indian Air Force radars detected the drone's presence in Indian airspace at around 11:30 this morning.

The IAF immediately scrambbled Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jets from the Nal Airforce Station, located on the outskirts of Bikaner. The jets took to the skies and took down the drone by firing an air-to-air missile.

The drone's debris landed in Pakistan on a sand dune name MW Toba.

Interestingly, just before news broke in India of the Indian Air Force shooting the Pakistani aircraft, Pakistani Twitter exploded with speculation that Indian Air Force had carried out another airstrike, this time across the Rajasthan border.

Several Twitter handles tweeted photos of a broken metal object, saying that it the debris of bombs that Indian Air Force jets had dropped in Fort Abbas in Pakistan's Punjab.

The Pakistan military said there was no airstrike and that the photos of the metal objects were fuel tanks dumped by Pakistani jets flying in the area.

The development in Rajasthan comes at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan are high and when militaries on both sides are on alert.

Old air force plane crashes

user posted image

QUOTE
SONGKHLA: Two air force pilots and a mechanic were slightly injured when their old AU-23 Peacemaker crash-landed in Khlong Hoi Khong district around noon on Tuesday.

RTAF spokesman AM Pongsak Semachai said the single-engined plane took off from the 9th ad hoc air force command in Pattani province at 11.56am, heading for Wing 56 in Khlong Hoi Khong.

It suffered an engine problem as it was approaching Wing 56 and the pilot made a hard, forced landing in the grounds of Wat Bang Sala in tambon Ban Phru of Khlong Hoi Khong.

The three crew were slightly injured and taken to a local hospital, said AM Pongsak, also director of civil affairs.

The air force received the AU-23 Peacemaker gunship, a utility transport plane, from the United States in 1972. The US used a small fleet of the modified Peacemaker, originally a single-engine Pilatus PC-6 Porter built in Switzerland, for counter-insurgency missions during the Vietnam war.

All were later sold to the Royal Thai Air Force.

Two dead after Chinese navy plane crashes

user posted image

QUOTE
A Chinese navy plane crashed in Hainan province on Tuesday killing two crew members, the military said.

A short statement said the crash happened during a training exercise over rural Ledong county in the southern island province.

No one else was reported to have been injured after the plane hit the ground and the cause of the incident is being investigated.

Footage that purported to be taken from the crash site started circulating on social media after the accident.

The mobile phone footage, which news portal 163.com said was taken in Hainan, showed smoke rising from piles of wreckage next to a damaged water tower as bystanders gathered at the site.

The person who uploaded the footage said the plane had hit the water tower before crashing into the ground.

The PLA’s official statement did not specify the type plane that crashed, although unverified witness account online said it was a twin-seat Xian JH-7 “Flying Leopard”.

The JH-7, which entered service with the navy and air force in the 1990s, has been involved in a number of fatal accidents over the years.

The pilot managed to land the aircraft safely. The 64-year-old navigator, who is not a soldier, was thrown off the runway and suffered serious injuries, including back injuries. Hospitalized, he is in a stable and conscious state.

He has been hospitalized and is currently in stable condition.

According to Colonel Cyrille Duvivier, spokesman for the Air Force, the passenger in the rear seat of the fighter did not belong to the Ministry of the Armed Forces and carried out a “theft of information”, he ejected “little after takeoff “for a” training mission “.

“His state of health is not a cause for concern,” the spokesman said.
