MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) - A Colombian military helicopter crashed during an anti-drug operation on Saturday, killing all four crew members on board, the country’s army said in a press release.

The Black Hawk helicopter came down in the southwestern Cauca region.

The military said the aircraft had been found and the cause of the crash would be established after a technical examination.

Military personnel could not reach the site of the incident earlier due to bad weather conditions.

An Afghan National Army helicopter carrying senior officials has crashed in bad weather in the western province of Farah, killing all 25 on board, a local official says.

Naser Mehri, a spokesman for the provincial governor, said the helicopter crashed shortly after taking off from the mountainous Anar Dara district in the morning of October 31 heading toward the nearby province of Herat.

He said the copter crashed in bad weather. A Taliban spokesman said the militants shot it down.

Mehri said the passengers included the deputy corps commander of Afghanistan’s western zone and the head of the Farah provincial council.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yusuf Ahmadi claimed the militants had downed the helicopter but failed to provide evidence. Defense Ministry spokesman Ghafor Ahmad Jawed rejected the Taliban claim of responsibility as “totally wrong.”

On 3 November, a Russian-made MiG-29 multirole fighter crashed during a training mission in Egypt.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this point, the Egyptian pilot managed to eject safely.

No further details on the modification of MiG-29 aircraft have been released.

The aircraft belonged to the Egyptian Air Force (EAF). According to Russia’s Kommersant newspaper, MiG-29 fighter jet was supplied by Russia to Egypt as part of a commercial contract in 2018.

Also, the Russian aircraft corporation confirmed that EAF’s MiG-29 multirole fighter crashed in Egypt.

“We are in possession of the latest information about the crash of a MiG-29M belonging to the Egyptian army. Our technical experts will travel to Egypt very soon to help in the investigation,” said in the corporation.

The corporation, which unites state-owned military and civilian aircraft construction companies, did not provide possible reasons for the crash. It could not immediately be reached for comment.

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) C-130 cargo aircraft crash landed at Nur Khan airbase in Rawalpindi on Friday.

The aircraft caught fire after the hard landing and the pilot and the trainee pilot were reported safe by authorities.

The PAF C-130 was on a routine training flight, said a spokesman for the service and added that the fire was extinguished and all crew members are safe.

A board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters to ascertain the cause of the incident., added the PAF spokesman.

The C-130, a US manufactured four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft, is the workhorse of the air force’s fixed-wing transport fleet.

The tactical transport aircraft was inducted into the PAF in the early 1960s and has remained at the forefront of relief operations during natural calamities.

Apart from transporting all manner of cargo, the aircraft is also used by paratroopers and special operation forces when performing airborne operations.

TOKYO (REUTERS) - A U.S. F/A 18 fighter jet crashed in the Philippine Sea on Monday after experiencing mechanical trouble during routine operations, the Navy said in a statement.

Both pilots were immediately rescued and are in good condition, it said, adding that the crash was being investigated.

One pilot has died in a T-38 training aircraft Tuesday night at Laughlin Air Force Base in Texas.

In a post on its Facebook page, Laughlin said that the other pilot has been transferred to Val Verde Regional Medical Center. The names of the pilots will be released after their next of kin have been notified.

Laughlin said a board of officers will be convened to investigate the crash.

Another T-38C Talon crash in November 2017 resulted in the death of one of its two pilots.

A chopper bound for a military event crashed in Tarlac province on Thursday.

The Philippine Air Force said 12 people, including Deputy Minority Leader Anthony Bravo and some soldiers, were on board the Sokol helicopter when it crashed around 2 p.m. at Colonel Ernesto Ravina Air Base, also known as Crow valley.

Former House Secretary General Cesar Pareja, who was among the passengers, said the pilot suffered head injuries while one of the crew had a broken arm.

"I have minor scratches along with most of the passengers. The helicopter crashed just as we were about to land in Crow Valley," Pareja said.

Authorities said all passengers and crew are safe.

The training aircraft crashed in a firing zone of the Air Force in Rasulpur

An Air Force training aircraft crashed in Tangail, killing its pilot Wing Commander Arif Hossain. The plane crashed in the Air Force’s Telki Firing Zone in Rasulpur on Friday around 3:30pm.

Madhupur Fire Service Station Officer Delwar Hossain confirmed the incident to the Dhaka Tribune. Local fire Service, police and Air Force officials went to the scene to conduct salvage operations shortly after the crash.

Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Madhupur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Ramendra Nath Biswas said: “Bangladesh Air Force was conducting an exercise in Arankhola union from November 22 to 27.

“Around 3:40pm, an F7-PG aircraft crashed in the Madhupur forest and caught fire, leaving the pilot Wing Commander Arif Hossain Dipu dead on the spot.”

Turkish media reported that rescue teams have been dispatched to the helicopter's crash site in a neighbourhood in Sancaktepe district, Istanbul.

According to the Yeni Safak news outlet, a military helicopter crashed in Istanbul on Monday, leaving several soldiers wounded.

Four soldiers have been killed in the crash, one injured, according to Hurriyet Daily News. According to the preliminary information, the crash occurred as a result of a technical malfunction, the NTV channel reported.

Twitter users have uploaded pictures of the crashed aircraft as well as alleged footage showing the moments before the incident.

HYDERABAD: An Indian Air Force (IAF) trainer aircraft crashed near Yadgirigutta in the Hyderabad city outskirts on Wednesday morning, while the pilot parachuted to the ground safely.

According to police, the incident happened at 11.30 am in Bahupeta village near Alair in Yadgirigutta police limits.

The IAF's Kiran trainer aircraft crashed in an open land at the village. The aircraft was completely damaged.

Pilot parachuted out and due to hard landing, he sustained a leg fracture, ACP Bhongir, M Jitender Reddy said.

BERLIN (Reuters) - The German Air Force said on Friday that there was no suspicion of criminal activity after a malfunction forced a plane carrying Chancellor Angela Merkel to the G20 summit in Argentina to make made an unscheduled landing.

Earlier German daily Rheinische Post cited security sources as saying the government was checking whether the incident on Thursday had a “criminal background”, though the sources added that investigators would typically look “in all directions” after such an incident.

But a spokesman for the German Air Force said there was no suspicion of any crime, adding: “It’s a standard check of the radio equipment that failed.”

Merkel was on her way from Germany to the summit when the government’s Airbus A340 made an unscheduled but safe landing at Cologne-Bonn airport late on Thursday.

Der Spiegel magazine said the government plane’s entire communication system malfunctioned, constituting a serious emergency, with the crew forced to plan the landing using an on-board satellite phone.

The air force spokesman also said the plane had not discharged jet fuel before landing in Cologne, contrary to earlier reports.

Merkel called the incident a “serious malfunction”. She and German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz were due to resume their travel to Buenos Aires early on Friday, but they will arrive after G20 leaders start their discussions.

Six Marines are missing after a Marine Corps KC-130 aerial tanker and an F/A-18 Hornet have crashed off Japan, officials announced on Wednesday.

One Marine has been rescued alive while search and rescue operations continue for the other six Marines, who remain missing, a Marine Corps news release says. The rescued Marine is being treated by medical personal at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni.

The crash happened about 2 a.m. local time on Thursday about 200 miles off Japan’s coast, the Corps news release says.

“The aircraft involved in the mishap had launched from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni and were conducting regularly scheduled training when the mishap occurred. Japanese search and rescue aircraft immediately responded to aid in recovery.”

The crashed Su-25 military jet has been found in mountains near the city of Maralik, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense Artsrun Hovhannisyan informs.

The two pilots - Lieutenant Colonel Armen Babayan and Major Movses Manukyan have been killed in the crash.

The military jet of the Armenian Ministry of Defense went missing at 10 a.m. this morning, 14 minutes into the flight.

The cause of the crash wasn't immediately clear.

Rescuers in eastern France are searching for the two crew members of a fighter jet which crashed in a mountainous region on Wednesday.

The wreck of the Mirage 2000-D was found near Mignovillard in the Jura region, at an altitude of about 1,000 metres (3,280 feet).

It vanished from radar during the morning on a low-altitude training flight, AFP news agency reports.

"We hope we'll find them alive," an air force spokesman said.

"At present they are reported missing."

There has been no contact with the pilot and navigator since the jet vanished.

The air force spokesman, Col Cyrille Duvivier, added that there had been no ejection signal.

Commenting on a report that a parachute had been found among the wreckage, he said it was too early to tell whether it had belonged to a crew member or the plane itself.

The plane vanished from radar at around 11:00 local time (10:00 GMT), shortly after taking off from the Nancy-Ochey air base.

The area has received heavy snowfall in recent days which, along with low visibility, could make the search operation more difficult, officials said.

The plane is understood to have been unarmed during its flight.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Friday that the rescue operation at the crash site of two Su-34 fighter-bombers continues.

According to the ministry, the search-and-rescue operation involves Tu-142, An-12, An-30 aircraft, Mi-8 helicopters. Another six vessels of the Russian Pacific Fleet were deployed to the search area.

"Pilot's body was found in the area of the search-and-rescue operation. The body of the deceased pilot was taken aboard a vessel involved in the operation in the area," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry reported that two Su-34 fighter-bombers collided on Friday morning while maneuvering during a training flight over the waters the Sea of Japan 35 kilometers [22 miles] off the coast.

Both crews (of two pilots each) ejected, but only one pilot has been rescued so far, while the first body was found earlier in the day floating in an individual life-support raft.

"A vessel involved in the search-and-rescue operation found and lifted on board an individual life-support raft with the body of a Su-34 pilot," the ministry said in a statement. Another six ships and vessels of the Russian Pacific Fleet were deployed to the search area.

The Russian Defense Ministry has launched an investigation into the incident.

A Dassault Mirage F1 air-superiority fighter and attack aircraft crashed after a technical malfunction in Morocco on 21 January.

The Moroccan air force Mirage F1 fighter jet crashed on landing while making a routine training mission, according to the Royal Air Force officials.

The crash of A Mirage F1 fighter jet from the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) occurred around 12:30 local time in the Taounate region.

The pilot ejected before the crash and is being evaluated for injury, according to the Morocco World News news agency.

A Tu-22M3 long-range bomber aircraft crashed on Tuesday in Murmansk region, Russian news agencies quoted Russia’s Defence Ministry.

The incident occurred at 13:40 local time at Olenegorsk Air Base, Tu-22M3 long-range bomber aircraft crashed on landing while making a routine training mission.

According to preliminary information, on board were four crew members, two of them – the commander and navigator – survived. The status of other crew members is not reported.

Russia’s Defence Ministry was not immediately able to confirm any casualties.

The crash is under investigation, the Russian news agencies said.

An aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) crashed on Wednesday near Mastung in Balochistan, according to a statement released after the incident.

The F-7PG aircraft was on a routine training mission at the time of the incident. The crash led to the martyrdom of the pilot.

The PAF statement added that a board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters to determine the cause of the crash.
