Precisely the point. Drifting Ferrari for silly buggers sake is ok but for full time competition sakes is not financially viable. That was why after Manabu Orido's RiDOX Supra was involved in a transport stage accident, he decided to retire. D1GP is not a cheap affair either as the maintenance and upkeep of a drift car is pretty expensive at competition level. Have you checked how much a set of Yokohama Advans R-Spec tyres cost nowadays? That's just for starters and we're not even talking transmission and clutch rebuilds after 2-3 race sessions. So to those who think it's as easy as "Owh, I think I'll enter my 599GTB for the Ebisu D1GP event this sunday since I can whoop em' RX7 ricers" have obviously never owned a car nor have they found out how much a simple cam belt change for a ferrari costs (Hint: It's about GBP 1500 per interval just for cam belts LOL)

Just got this

Popular Racing Franchise Drifts Onto Mobile Phones This Fall

The thrilling high-RPM franchise explodes out of the underground and on to the world stage with Need For Speed(tm) ProStreet. Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced that Need for Speed ProStreet for mobile will make its way onto mobiles across Europe on October 26 and across North America on October 30. Specifically designed for mobile handsets, the game lets anyone with a cell phone experience the excitement of being firmly in the driver's seat.

With Need for Speed ProStreet, players hit iconic street racing locations and strap themselves into one of 16 licensed high performance cars. Racers can use nitrous boosts to burn rubber on as many as 11 intense road courses, and smoke eight other competitors as they go full throttle in a tricked-out car. Winners will earn cash to upgrade their car at the Tuner Shop or even get a new ride!

"We are very excited to release another great mobile version of this racing franchise that is so popular with our fans," said Travis Boatman, VP of Worldwide Studios at EA Mobile(tm). "Need for Speed ProStreet delivers the adrenaline-fueled racing and drifting that you've come to expect from the Need For Speed franchise, while offering accessible gameplay and controls designed specifically for mobile phones."
Need for Speed ProStreet will become available for purchase and download from most major mobile operators in North America and Europe. For more information about Need for Speed ProStreet or to determine availability for your mobile phone, please visit http://www.eamobile.com

Seems like they are reaching out to the mobile community, although we might expect GBA/DS-style quality for the mobile versions.

CZero: I think the point is doing it for fun is still fine, but once you tried going D1GP level the costs soar sky-high. Heck, the sequential gearboxes of some of the cars in D1GP worth more than the cost of the car in stock (Orido's RiDOX Supra were last drifted with a Hollinger sequential unit, and mind you those are not cheap).

Not to mention accidents (VERY common). I've been to the inaugural D1GP Malaysia, and accidents happened to some of the cars that participated (varying levels of seriousness). This practically draw the line between the normal guys and those who are practically miles above them.

If you are talking about JC drifting the LP640, he is doing it with no costs to bear by himself. Hell, remember the time any of the Koenigseggs crashed or anything?

Yeah but so far in all the trailers and screenshots we've only seen the 2005 GT-R Proto design.... not the newer 2007 design which is so much sexier tongue.gif tongue.gif

Oh well another alternative is to wait for someone to customise the car's model/skin to match the newer design..

is the CPU req 3.0Ghz single core P4 Prescott or what? or P4 with HT? or a dual-core Core 2 Conroe? or a quad core Core 2 Kentsfiled? or any of the AMD stuff?
3.0Ghz on each of these choices have significant performance differences.. heheh... man they should revamp how they state their requirements... somehow..

In other words, as long as you have a graphic card that is recent enough (and obviously needing to be at least upper-mid range), then the game should run fine (as in, not maxing out the settings and the like).

It is a good thing that EA is not alienating the PC group for their games, some of the other games become too PC-focused that you need a top-of-the-line PC just to run them fine.

first of all, they still listing the CPU clock speed instead of actually mentioning the required CPU range, this is not accurate at all, for eg a Pentium E2140 can tapao Pentium 4 3 GHz already biggrin.gif

so this game don't have DX10 features? unsure.gif

still based on PS2.0 hmm.gif really friendly enough for old pc users hmm.gif
