Before i bought E228WFP, i was planning to get 2407WFP. But i think my Nvidia 5900XT graphic card is quite outdated and could have hard time to support the high resolution 1920 x 1200, so i decided to get E228WFP because i do not wish to upgrade my graphic card. So to everyone who wish to get 24" or above, must seriously consider whether your graphic card could support the big screen first.

QUOTE(§layerXT @ Aug 5 2007, 01:54 AM) That's why getting only 20" is sufficient. Wasting money getting 22" coz the optimum resolution is the same. I don't agree with this. Even though, the optimum resolution is same for both 20" and 22", the 22" screen is significantly larger. My E228WFP is cheaper compare to some 20" wide-screen, so i don't feel wasting my money. You might argue that 20" might have better quality panel, better response time or richer color, i feel its too small for me. I would feel wasted my money for a smaller 20" screen. For me, the viewing fonts on 20" is way to small and i hate that. Different people, different taste. |

QUOTE(Sony Trinitron @ Aug 5 2007, 09:37 PM) i loled reading your post. 20" at 1680x1050 is perfectly clear, and those claims of font being too small is just so funny!!! I loled reading at your post too. Everyone's know that 22" is not the best quality LCD. The way you bashed 22" is like the the world's going to end. I'm using E228WFP and i've compare 22" and 20" side-by-side. Of course, the viewing angle of 22" sucks and the color is not as great as 20", but its not pure ugly, blurry and unsharp as claim by you. About the 22" LCD you viewed at PC fair, is the 22" plugged using VGA or DVI cable? |

QUOTE(The Scent LYN @ Aug 12 2007, 08:29 PM) Hello peeps! Got my 22" Dell. By deafult, LCD screen Is it VERY BRIGHT. Just lower down the brightness will do well. DVI connection is for better quality image. 1680 x 1050 is the only best resolution for your 22".Happy with it but why izzit TOO bright? Izzit because im using Analog connection and GeForce2? (Waiting for 6600GT to arrive)? I set to the highest resolution, 1680x1050. Thx. |

QUOTE(jolipoli81 @ Aug 14 2007, 08:05 AM) A 6-bit panel can produce 262,144 colors (64 colors per RGB channel) while an 8-bit panel produces 24-bit color by outputting 256 colors per RGB channel, resulting in a total of 16,177,216 colors. To compensate for this, 6-bit panels use special dithering techniques to simulate colors that it can't natively produce (usually by making adjacent subpixels flash between two colors to create the illusion). For a lot of people, a 6-bit panel is as good as an 8-bit one and they can't tell the difference, but there are others that can see the difference and it annoys them.Just in case you're interested, the easiest way to tell the difference between a 6-bit and an 8-bit panel is by checking out the viewing angle. 8-bit panels have a wider viewing angle than 6-bit panels (around 178° for 8-bit panels compared to anything between 130 and 170° for 6-bit panels). QUOTE(akachester @ Aug 14 2007, 01:39 PM) Yes, personally tested it before. 720p movies will still cause artifacts and pixelation using 22". The one you should look for when watching movies is only Full HD 1080p to get total perfection movie. No wonder my 720p HD movies always pixelated on my E228WFP. |

QUOTE(akachester @ Aug 20 2007, 02:03 PM) AFAIK, the thing that is not good about TN panel is because of the bad viewing angle. Meaning, if you are looking at the LCD from the sides, you will see the images to be quite blur.. I think when you view the TN-panel LCD from side, the screen will turn darker and the colors will be appeared washed out. This post has been edited by ckkean: Aug 20 2007, 03:06 PM |

QUOTE(Dreamworks @ Aug 20 2007, 03:13 PM) So if I view directly should be no problem right? The colours okay? If you view directly in-front of the TN-panel LCD will be no problem la. You will only notice the difference between TN-panel and other panel (S-IPS/S-PVA) when you view all panel side-by-side.By the way, everyone seems to recommend Dell, but what about Viewsonic and BenQ? Both of them also around that price Everyone recommend Dell because of its extended warranty claim & excellent before/after-sales service. And they deliver your LCD to your doorsteps too. |
