Busted out DMC4 over the weekend... the game holds up so well still, freaking ridiculous that 10 years later not a single action-adventure game has rivaled DMC4's combat depth.

DMC5 will have online coop. Not much details yet, but I'm thinking it's probably for Bloody Palace. Still... thinking about the possibilities of online MP combo videos is mind blowing.

QUOTE(Morales @ Nov 3 2018, 10:50 AM) Well I played the demo at TGS twice this year and honestly, I had some mixed reactions. While I'm very happy the design of DMC has been retained (it's quite DMC4 esque), I'm a little weary about the change in combat. You see in previous games, the combat design was based off fighting games - which means you have a lot of mechanics like jump canceling, button buffering, just frame inputs and general frame data. With DMC5, they've streamlined a lot of that and it's like a hybrid between DmC and DMC4 now. You can't really jump cancel anymore, moves are not as dynamic and if you attempt to do something similar - the game just wouldn't allow you to keep an enemy being juggled in the air infinitely (like you could in DMC4). That said, the revised combat IS fun. It's definitely not bad and it'll definitely help new players have more freedom in the game because the execution barrier in DMC4 isn't what I'd say newbie friendly. New players can do cool shit in DMC5 much easier than before is what I'm saying.. Pre order? Well... I know I'm playing this game day 1. I'm a sucker for DMC. You can always wait a few more months before deciding. Capcom will be showing more of the game, so perhaps that will help your decision. |

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Nov 7 2018, 05:07 PM) Both are trash. Their combat hand hold you to do shit instead of you doing your own stuff. Imagine playing a fighting game where all you need to do is press 2 buttons. Your standard is high, Saiyan Bayonetta got fairly close to matching DMC4 though. Thanks for the reply |

Alright, so on the PS4 Pro - performance is fairly solid 60fps most of the time during combat. However there are noticeable drops especially when terrain in the level starts shifting, doesn't hamper gameplay but well it's there. This was the same case back on DMC4 on PS3/360 and also DMC3 back on the PS2, so nothing new here.
Now what bothers me is the fluidity of the cutscenes. It's quite juddery and the transition from gameplay to cutscene feels awkward. In any case, I'm so glad DMC is back the way it is. There's definitely a mash of DMC4 and that ill-fated reboot DmC and I think this is a happy balance for both veterans and newcomers. Can't wait for March! ---- On that note, the "NEW OFFICIAL" timeline for DMC is: DMC3 > Anime > DMC1 > DMC2 > DMC4 > DMC5. Yeah, you read that right. Lmao. No capcom, you can't just re-write your bullshit simply because you knew you fuck'd up ages ago. I'll continue to pretend that DMC2 never existed.
