Just bought my Samsung UA50NU7090 for my small living room usage.

Seem cannot find much review on this. Is this an old model? Alot review mostly talk about UN7100 only. what's the different between this nu7090 and nu7100model?
*
Basically it is part of the NU7100 series family .

NU7090 is further limited to having only 2 HDMI and 1 USB port , compare to the 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports on NU7100.

The rest of the specs are identical , the TV performance should be the same as NU7100 & NU7103.

Hi sifus,

I have always been silent reader and i really appreciate all the inputs from the members here.

As SST is going to be implemented tomorrow, I am thinking of getting a 4K UHD TV.

I am considering Samsung 55 inches UA55NU7100KXMM but I saw Panasonic TH-55FX600K.

Can you guys give me the pros and cons of it? If its too sensitive to comment abt it can you PM me?

I saw both priced at RM2899 and I more inclined to Panasonic as it has HDR10?

But I like Samsung OS and I own Note 9. So...

I am undecided now and I need advice soon cos today is last day.

TQ
*
HDR10+ is basically a HDR format with dynamic meta data like Dolby Vision except it is much less popular.
Don't worry too much about it , there are hardly any HDR10 + content right now for it to be a concern.

Both TVs are compatible with current HDR 10 format, that's what you should care about.

You should consider your room condition first before buying the TVs , for a dark or dimmer room goes with the Samsung , for a brighter / living hall where you also need a wider viewing angles , get the Panasonic.

Good day sifus, want some opinions regarding Samsung NU7400.

My usage is a bit different, as I looking for a 4k TV not only to watch movies and possibly console gaming, but I also looking for one as a PC monitor, which shall be my main usage. A good 4K HDR is a nice addition even if it is limited.

I was browsing at a SenQ shop today and observed between Samsung NU7400 and Sony x7000f. The NU7400 seem to have quite a nice black and looks smoother (the shop is demoing The Avenger movie laugh.gif) while the x7000f looks good showing the bright scene (the clip of people surfing with lots of colourful balls on the water ? sweat.gif).

However the shop doesn't demo both TV on same scene so I could not judge on the colour, I fine with either two.

The main concern for me is the response time and input lag as I am gaming on my PC. Assuming the x7000f is a replacement for x7000e, the input lag is around 20ms, which seems excellent by what rtings.com said, i am not sure what's the input lag for NU7400, as I look up and down on internet for reviews and nothing comes up.

Does anyone have the NU7400 can comment about the input lag ? I read generally samsung has lower input lag than other brands.

My budget is around rm 2,000 - rm 3,000. Both NU7400 and x7000f seems to be within my budget range (NU7400 50" is around RM 2,900 at the SenQ shop)

Thank you smile.gif
*
Input lag is very low ( roughly 13-15ms ) , one of the lowest among TVs.

The NU7400 is a bit better since it has a wider color gamut , but this advantage is only visible in HDR content playbacks . It also comes packing with more smart TV features than the Sony model ( such as smart remote control , 5G WIFI & TV mirroring ...etc )

If you plan to use the TV as a monitor & sit relatively close to the screen , you will notice color and brightness downgrades by the edge of the VA screen . That is caused by the poor viewing angles of VA TV . The edge of the large screen will experience a dramatic angles shifting when viewed from a close distance . This is where IPS TV becomes handy.

understood. i just wanted to know the max Mbps this tv can support.
*
Theoretically for WIFI streaming , it can allow speed up to 1Gbps ++ . But the CPU of the TV (which is kind of weak ) also play a part in processing the data , 100 ~ 400 mb/sec is a more realistic expectation.

Base on many of the TV models I have inspected , none of the current TVs ( except a certain China brands such as TCL ) has a gigabit Ethernet port.
Including the high end QLEDs and OLEDs. It is pretty safe to assume most of them has a 10/100 , 60 mb / sec is pretty much the reasonable expectation.

For modern day Apps streaming , that should be sufficient. Primary because streaming videos suffer a major loss of video quality ( bitrates ) in the process of transcoding .
For eg , the 4k movie on Netflix is of much smaller size than its 4k bluray counterpart . In reality , the so called " 4k " streaming video quality is more or less the same as what you see from a 1080p bluray disc , which is quite a bit of downgrade .

If you want to stream very high quality video files such as 4k Bluray Rips and remux from your HTPC / NAS , the Ethernet LAN port is unable to handle the massive data transfer . You have to rely on WIFI streaming but this can be problematic due to many of the 2018 basic 4k TVs do not support 5GHz WIFI.

Your alternative , is to connect the TV to an external storage via USB which can be very hassling .

*
More or less the same , but the NU7103 has more smart TV features than the NU7100 .

thanks for the info

I'm getting 2 units of 7100, so I'm quite screwed since I was thinking to hardwired it to connect to NAS, so do I need an external media player?

or the 10/100 mb is sufficient?
*
It really depends on the quality of the files and how it is ripped.

For the pristine source of Ultra HD Bluray quality , there will be some buffering and stuttering around.

You are better off with a media player .

mine nu7400 also dont have.

guys any of you paired bookshelf speaker to your tv? i cant get the smart remote to control the volume of the speaker. cheap but good edifier r1280db.

i wanted a soundbar but the good ones are too expensive to justify as a soundbar.
*
The thing about Samsung TV is , they NEVER update their OS .
They may add a feature and two via firmware , they don't upgrade your OS to the newest version , at least not via WIFI / Internet.

For eg , if the models from 2017 are using tizen 3.0 , it will be using tizen 3.0 forever while the 2018 TVs will be using tizen 4.0 .

I am not sure if this has anything to do with you not finding the Unifi TV apps .
Maybe it is not yet supported for the newer Tizen version.

anyone using Samsung 55" Q6F 4K Smart QLED ? (hardly seen anyone mention about QLED model)

recently brought the Samsung 55" Q6F 4K Smart QLED during thanksgiving/black friday week

been using it almost 2 week and it works great with apps like Netflix, Hulu Live, Sling and Amazon Prime

kinda wonder how much is this model selling back in Malaysia ?
*
Not good , the QLED TVs don't sell very well in MY unfortunately .

Especially not the Q6FN model , which feels like a slightly improved NU8000 but cost so much more.
Because of the pricing ranges , Q6FN feels a little unnecessary . If someone want an upgrade over NU8000 , they should just go for the Q7FN or if they want the best 4k QLED , the Q9FN.

my 1 month old 55 inch nu7400 screen cracked already.

where to repair and how much estimated cost?

do warranty covers cracked screen?
*
That is unfortunate , how did it crack ?
The screen is the most expensive component to replace within a television . Replacement will probably cost you 90% of the price of a whole new TV .

Samsung is currently planning the debut of their 2019 QLED TVs

They are also planning to bring in their 8k TV Q900R ( in 75 " and 82") for the first time in Malaysia , pre-order freebies including their newest S10+ Galaxy flagship phone ( 512 GB ) and Galaxy tab S4 .

The entry level Quantum Dots TV , 49 inches of Q60R will also be available to preorder for a short period for a price tag below RM3000 .

Other QLED models to join the launch include Q75R and its respective upgrade Q90R , the latter of which is going to be the flagship 4k QLED TV for Samsung in 2019.
Both of these 2 models are going to utilize the more advanced Full Array Local Dimming.

Two mid-range sound bars HW-Q60R & HW-Q70R will also reportedly joining the TV line up .

The official Price list I've gotten

Q900R 75 " : RM 59,999 (Flagship 8K )

Q90R 65 " : RM 18,999
Q90R 75 " : RM 29,999

Q75R 75 " : RM 19,999
Q75R 65 " : RM 13,999
Q75R 55 ": RM 7999

Q60R 49 " : RM 4999 (* Pre-order price 2999 )

No bro , it is yet to be released .

*
Nope . Not at this moment at least , things may change if Q70R suddenly become the hottest selling model in MY but I really doubt it with that price tag.

A weebit of correction here : Samsung has renamed the Q70R to Q75R in our country .

Anybody took the 49" Q60R RM2999 offer? RTINGS stated poor HDR performance but youtube review indicate brighter than Q75R. Kind of confusing.
Kind of interested to buy either as PC monitor. the price diff between these 2 models are huge though RM2999 vs RM7999, so prefer if may grab Q60R.
Opinions?
*
Youtube review , that's where the problem is .

And I assume you are talking about ABT electronics , they are an electronic shop .
You can hardly call those reviews , more like unboxing previews . The sales pitch should be obvious by now , they want to sell you those TVs.

Real TV reviewers are hard to come by thesedays as they find themselves in very difficult position .
When you say not so good things about the TV , the PR of the brands don't take them nicely .

As a result you end up getting boycott from their event , they will never send you anymore TV to play around .
Either that or they send you cherry picked unit to garner positive reviews while actual product being far less competent , Samsung is particularly guilty of this .

Are you saying not to get the Q60R then? Half a year has gone by and Im still looking to get one, perhaps the newer models now biggrin.gif
*
Not at the default MSRP ( 4999 ).

There are a lot of compromises behind the 2999 promotional price tag .
Looking at how many features they have removed , the Q60R is not so much different than NU7400 which can be found at cheaper price now.

Not saying the TV is bad per se , it just means the 49" Q60R is not the affordable , dreamy, full-featured QLED TV we thought it was .

No local dimming ( which explains the mediocre brightness rating ) , no Freesync/VRR support , No 120 hz native refresh ( Not to be confused with 100 motion rate listed on Samsung's website )
Good thing is this TV probably has the best color volume out of the bunch of TV in this price range thanks to the quantum dots filter , so you still get something out of the QLED line up.

What about it at 2999? Seems like the NU8000 is going for about 500 more or so, as the newer model is coming out

You definitely get more bangs for your money on NU8000 , too many features have been removed on the 49" Q60R.

Bought it. While checking out the store (Best Denki), they also have the new Q75R on sale already for RM7K (vs RM7999 MSRP where most shop sells).
Compared them side by side a few movies couldnt tell much of a difference. The 7FN is definitely brighter.
*
Brighter , more colorful to say the least .

Something is off with the Q60R and Q75R this year , even the anti-reflection they used are the semi-gloss one . ( Q7FN uses the full glossy coating which is more expensive and better at fighting off glares)

I have expected more from Samsung especially when these babies have a default price tag of RM5000 ~ RM7000.

There is literally no reason to upgrade to the Q60R / Q75R over the Q6FN / Q7FN .

49" Q75R would be the perfect console, true-HDR gaming TV in the bedroom if Samsung My had a little bit more common senses in their thick skulls, would've made more senses in our local market. Just the right size. But maybe no.
*
Arrogance has got the better of them , especially when they don't even have any competitor in the sector .

Sony and Panasonic have basically given up on the VA LCD market , no other brands are making competent enough TV to threaten them in the mid range LCD market.
Bad practice for the display business .
