QUOTE(Suk @ Jun 4 2009, 11:31 PM) Class B subnet got 60K+ IP's available. Wow. Lets put it into a scenario. If other 4MB user getting other IP's mean they gonna have almost 60,000 4mb streamyx user. Lets say of the 60000 4mb users, half of them are torrenting/downloading at an average of 400kbps. It Means: 30000 users X 400kbps = 12000000kbps which means 12000000kbps divide by 1000 = 12000Mbps which also means that total of 12Gbps of bandwidth is used. NO JOKE This post has been edited by andrew9292: Jun 5 2009, 12:08 AM |

QUOTE(prasys @ Jun 5 2009, 01:07 PM) Bias calculation. Its impossible to have 60000 4Mbps users at time. For instance today , I am just surfing the web , checking my e-mail , facebook and IRC. I am just using around 50-100 kilobits per second. so your calculation is somewhat biased and it doesn't take account into what 4Mbps users do. Yes some of them do torrent , others like me (at this time) - would be using it for productivity stuff (i.e researching, IMing , and IRCing) Yeah that's you. I agree it's rather bias, but among my circle of friends, lets say 20, i know about 15 of them that are heavy downloaders... so yeah. But if you take into account the other thousands of 1mbps users that torrent...that figure is easily reachable... |

218.111.4.XX
========================================================================== VisualRoute trace to newswww.bbc.net.uk ========================================================================== This trace was started on Jun 10, 2009 10:48:58 PM. The host 'newswww.bbc.net.uk' (known as nol-vip01.cwwtf.bbc.co.uk) has been found, and is reachable in 11 hops. Also, it responded to HTTP requests on port 80 (it is running server Apache, which responded in 701ms). The TTL value of packets received from it is 49.In general this route is reasonably quick, with hops responding on average within 164ms. However, all hops after hop 6 in network 'TMNET' respond particularly slowly. The DNS lookup was completed almost instantaneously (less than 2ms - this may be the result of caching). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUOTE(fabianz03 @ Jun 14 2009, 08:36 PM) NO...not really... Mine was an UPGRADE from 1Mbps to 1.5Mbps. Only a certain batch and amount of users that signed up on a certain promotion period a few years back, when streamyx was still new in the market got it...not all.My friend recently about few months back, who signed up about the same time as me.... got a call from TM too, saying that his account will be upgraded to 1.5Mbps (he did not do anything). A few months later he found out that his speed was miscapped to 512kbps...but he isnt particular with such things as he just read email and MSN mostly... Damn weird, pings are much less but it buffers much more... I'm getting ready for my next complain now. How the hell can the ping be lowered yet we cant receive full speed. Only one answer : Throttle.

QUOTE(BugFace @ Jul 1 2009, 05:39 AM) Well, I told the TMPoint lady I previously emailed help@tm.com.my and that help email support told me under 3km can receive this service. She just look straight at me and repeatly said that only under 2km and preferably under 1.5km. She then talked with a senior staff who confirm to her what she said was true, including unable to downgrade etc. Yes under 3km can receive service ONLY IF the copper in your area and house is good. To reach max speed of 4Mbps (no other affecting factors such as routing), 1.5km will definately can, but with Malaysia's copper line that has not been upgraded since i dont know how long.............. anything near to 3km or more is questionableShe then kept saying once I signup at TMPoint there is no turning back unless the technician/contractor specifically gives me a letter after testing my line to allow for downgrade and that word of mouth does NOT count. Repeat that signup at TMPoint is final there is no going back, she also told me yes maybe your line ok during testing after a while later if have trouble I can't downgrade even if the issue can't be fixed by them that I will need to stick with it through whole 1 year period. I went to TMpoint Jalan Burmah, Pg. Any neighbors around you that use 4Mbps? If yes then u can take it up to TM. But i believe they have their reasons for telling you that your wont get the expected speed if you subscribe... and that informing you there will be no turning back for u. Normally they will just sell you the service and just make you regret for that 1 year period... At least now, this particular TM Point shows some sense of responsibility. QUOTE(llkh @ Jul 1 2009, 11:53 AM) same here bro..can u imagine, i get different colors of answers everytime i step into TMPoint...and i mean the same TMPoint?! they told me my area has available ports but not supported but can apply but rejected..and then before u know it...a few days later, the contractor called me to test my speed and then even before u can believe it..u r accessing lowyat.net with a 4mbps connection at the comfort of you home ...with Premium IPs u got lucky ;p how far are you to the DSLAM?all i can say is..persistence and patience helps a lot when dealing with TMPoint BTW 218.111 damn slow lately, starting 29th July |

QUOTE(defnose @ Jul 27 2009, 11:36 AM) Hey guys, i maybe in a wrong section but cant be fcked to open a new thread. Anyways im using 1.0mbps shitmyx connection and a few months back i was able to play my Battlefield 2 online. The online server is based in Australia but until recently, probably starting April i was not able to play online anymore because the ping i get was ridicoulousy high!!! 1st of all, not maybe. U are in the wrong section... I constantly get kicked by the server because of high ping. Im located in Country Heights, Kajang by the way so im thinking of upgrading to 2.0mbps since 4mbps is not available just yet. So what is the problem actually? Cause i was playing fine but now cant even play mann.. Is 2mbps worth the upgrade or shitmyx gonna give me the same fcking slow connction problem? Or do i need to configure something? 2mbps will only help you if u get the 218.111 ip range, otherwise it's equally useless... |
