WOW. Got rich people in that area? As far as i know, those high end alot vip area like bangsar, taman tun, mont kiara, hartamas, kota damansara, sierramas...

I checked with a few heavy downloaders in that live in those high class places, all don't have experience this capping thing... but there is not much people for me to get feedback from tho...and i'm not sure if they are on leased line, you know, those guarantee speed kind of line, but very expensive... anyone who live in those kind of area using 4mbps experience cap?

It's okay, think positive at least now they don't give you the service if your area cant support it. Better than give you and let you pay for nuts later ; )

FYI, REAL SNR and SNR Margin should never be confused with each other.

SNR is your actual SNR
SNR Margin is the margin between you current SNR and the minimum SNR your current line needs to be stable.

For example if it says SNR Margin is 6, it means that:
(your minimum SNR margin for you current line) + 6db

lets say your minimum margin is 6dB, so it means:
(6dB) + 6dB = REAL SNR Margin of 12dB

----------------------------------------------------

So lets say, the minimum margin to run 4096kbps is 12dB.
Your modem reports an SNR MARGIN of 8dB, it means 12dB+8dB = 20dB SNR (REAL)

20dB SNR will put you in good with little or no disconnection problems ; )

REAL SNR Classification:
6bB. or below = Bad and will experience no line synchronisation and frequent disconnections
7dB-10dB. = Fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions.
11dB-20dB. = Good with little or no disconnection problems
20dB-28dB. = Excellent

29dB. or above = Outstanding

most likely not because your attenuation is high...
increaseing DSLAM data rate will further increase your attenuation.

best is ask a TM technician to check for you ; )

can anyone 4mbps use do the speedtest on all ther china server and post the result at there? because i'm going to show TM that not the china website problem but is THEM! thanks!
*
Speedtest.net only has a few China severs, it will be highly unlikly the site you are going to visit is at the same location with the speedtest servers.

I would say do a traceroute using Pingplotter freeware and see where the problem lies.
Most of the time it would be TM's poor IP routings tho. IMO, there is nothing you can do about it unless they change the routing for your IP range.

Mind sharing what website you are facing problem? I'm locked in 218.111.4.XXX / 218.111.5.XXX. Maybe we can do a comparison between our IP ranges?

Tonight 218.111.4.XXX is screwed, 60ms pings to lowyat forum and 130+ms to Youtube. Ususally 9ms to lowyat

edit.

I'm wondering should i complain? This is not the first time 218.111.4 is slow at night.
And it seems that I'm locked on to 218.111.4 only...

andrew if u try to ping TMnut DNS(202.188.0.133) I guess u'll get the 60+ms ping as well, it seemed that TMnut DNS is screwed up for past 2 days.

Last night is the worst, when I disconnected and reconnected again, I kept on getting invalid login/password. Call CS and have been told that my area is "upgrading" now, then told me it'll be finished by today, end up today problem still remain the same.
*
I'm in PJ Kota Damansara, upgrading here?

I see, but for me things seem fine in the morning, only after 7 or 8pm things slow down but still acceptable. Yesterday's slowdown was worst, cant even watch Youtube without buffering.

Now things seem fine tho thumbup.gif

any experience on how to dealt tis problem ?

Mind posting your "Line Status" page and Speedtest results? Need to see your line status to double check the Noise Margins and capped speed...

Mis-capping quite common due to TM's lack of control on their "ground technicians"

okay, now i feel the pinch. running on 218.111.4 / 218.111.5 / 218.111.22 ( I have never got this .22 before )

Latency to USA rise around 50ms+/-
BUT speed drop almost 50-70%

local region (asia) latency ok, speed dropped.
Philippines slow. ( supposedly today is implementation of AAG )

Kota Damansara area.

It also seems like all my international speedtest are limited to 1Mbps!

I dont think it's just wangsa maju and melawati area problem...

^ Same thing here. Confirm it's some kind of capping system or bandwidth distribution. All international links are limited to 1mbps to almost all of us here.

Why? What is the reason behind this?

Just tested a 1.5mbps account on 118.XXX IP at another house @ SS2. It was able to achieve full speed to international (Los Angeles, New York, London).

I cant even speedtest tonight. Speedtest.net and Speedtest.TM also same,

pings are still okay for local (<80ms) acceptable
but somehow the speedtest keep lagging.

for example rise to 0.4mbps, then drop to 0.2 or 0.1, then slowly rise to 0.2 then stuck there.

after one minute move abit again.

loading webpages need to refresh several times.
checked DNS all fine, switch DNS also same.
check ping times to websites also within normal parameters, just slightly higher than normal around +-50ms
use proxy just slight improvement.

gila punya. i'm busy with examinations so TM is lucky this time...

Something is wrong here, youtube latency is very low, suggesting a local server. But i still cannot stream with full speed on it.

My guess is they are setting up a local youtube mirror, but as usual..... Maybe they just need some time in setting it up... (i would like to believe in this)
