im using lenovo p2 which is kinda pure android, it lasted me at least 5h sot with at least 40% juice left whatsapp,fb,gaming, 4g all the day (2bar signal), surfing the web
i quit rooting since i got my p2.. its much smooth than my old note 3.. lol damn right.. and its not that thick... i mean there's ppl who wan flagship lvl phone and does not mind extra thickness for battery capacity
Look at the number of people that carry power bank. Of course they would not mind carrying a phone that is thicker and can leave the powerbank at home.
i have an Elephone P4000 with 5Ah battery doesnt last me that long on high usage
i guess that the OS implementation should be side-by-side with the RAM management and battery usage control unless when u're rooted, then can choose a battery-friendly kernel
That is because Elephone is probably over reporting their battery capacity and they are using a non battery optimized SoC, Mediatek. Hence the low screen on time.
As a general rule of thumb I'd avoid any phone with a Mediatek processor
I won't even think twice when I see Mediatek SoC on a phone. Just reject from me. Cause Mediatek do no release their kernel source codes. So you don't see third party roms on it and other XDA community support on it. For people who just want to use a phone without tinkering with it.
Oh well, to me the exclusion of 5GHz AC WiFi is more serious than lack of Type-C port... I don't understand why the 5GHz AC WiFi of Snap636 SoC for this phone has been "accidentally" deactivated...hopefully Asus will push OTA to enable back the 5GHz AC (if this is even possible...).
Throwing the Corning Gorrila Glass and Qualcomm Quick-Charge 3.0 are understandable to reduce the cost...but basic 5GHz AC WiFi is a big mistake...
It's no accident. It was not "activated" because Asus will need to pay extra license fee for each function. Just like wireless charging which need to pay extra if want to "activate" it. They need to sacrifice features to save cost. For end user, you want those extra features, need to pay extra like in other flagship phones. It's about competition and demand. For most non-techie users, those are not important features as they won't even know it's not there. Even like microUSB, they don't even know what's the difference. And I would say some are glad it's microUSB cause they can re-use all their existing cables.

I don't bother legacy micro-USB or the latest Type-C connector... we can switch back and forth using adapters... just need to find the correct and reliable adapters is the main challenge... don't wanna have our M1 blows up due to flaky adapters...
But still to me the introduction of Type-C is a mistake in technology history especially to non-tech-savvy person...
Because Apple adopted it first...everyone followed...hahaha..copycats!
Yeah, the wait is getting really annoying. Once they release, we will be having another even cheaper phone with better performance **cough**realme1**cough**
So, historically, local ZMP M1 6GB is RM300 more than imported Redmi Note 5i 6GB... just a hypothesis because 6GB may not arrive here if the sales for 3/4GB is not encouraging...
The sales will depend on the price. They say "more affordable" than RN5, then they better make sure it is not cheaper by RM10-20. I am aiming for 3GB version. If it is not RM50 cheaper then I will go for RN5.
As of today, the official SRP for RN5i 3GB is RM799... but other resellers already dropped the price to RM769...So, Asus Malaysia will lock "RM799" as the target price to kill... so, they have to properly put the SRP price at well below RM799.. If Asus Malaysia put it at RM749, it'll be good enough...
Hence, as marketing strategy, during 31st May launching event, Asus Malaysia "should" offer the "Pre-order" sales price of RM699 but limited quantities... the SRP after "Pre-order" is hypothetically RM749...
Alternatively, "Pre-order" price at RM749 accompanied with 1 year Extended Warranty is also a bargain; since they vouch to upgrade ZMP M1 until Android "Q"uaker Oats...
Personally, I prefer extended warranty than other promos... smartphone's genuine mobo is not cheap...Right now, my LeMoto P2 is out of warranty and its mobo can anytime "blow" out ...
I would prefer lower price because motherboard seldom spoil. Even if it does, this is a budget phone. Changing the phone after warranty is not too bad.
You are required to attend MACC interview session tomorrow at 9AM. This is based on "Rule of Law" which claims you have close relationship with 1MDB case.
j/k...
Save money too cause I start repairing my own gadgets.
As someone once said "save money to buy diamond ring".

I had the Mi A1 with 4GB RAM for a while followed by the Redmi 5 Plus 3GB RAM and my experience with the 4GB one was better, far smoother and snappier. So I’d recommend that RM100 more, plus you’d be getting twice the storage.
Since this phone will be my second phone, I am not really concerned with slight lower performance on the 3GB version. However, the kiasu-ness in me still think of the best bang for bucks for the 4GB version.
Haha..I bought the phone quickly and did not use the HSBC discount. Wasted RM30 discount. Anyway, still a good bargain at RM599. Just wondering why the sales is still on. Looks like not many people interested in the 3GB model.
