Have you guys done this? maybe it has something to do with the overseas flag?

From the maybank FAQ
11. Can I use my Maybankard Visa Debit outside Malaysia?
You can use your Maybankard Visa Debit abroad provided you activate the overseas flag prior to your departure. The activation process can be done through our Maybank ATMs or through our 24 hours customer service centre at 1-300-88-6688. Your Maybankard Visa Debit can then be used for retail purchases at any VISA merchants and cash withdrawal at any ATMs with a VISA PLUS logo.

hmm will go try this. maybe it'll work? smile.gif

btw called public bank just now, seems that I have to wait one whole month after my debit card issued to receive my pin number, through mail. sweat.gif

just went to a public bank branch and applied for the Visa Electron debit card yesterday.. the officer there said have to wait for 2 weeks then they will mail a letter to your house to inform you where to pick up your card then the 3rd week only can go and collect.. wah need so long meh? I needed the card to book air ticket and hotel online.. is this card able to do so ?
*
i waited one whole month for the card to arrive and have to wait another whole month for the PIN number to arrive... taking very long time, but with all the positive feedback, i hope the wait is worth it.

btw, i have activated the overseas flag for my maybank debit card at ATM machine just now, still got rejected by paypal. sweat.gif

tried using Amazon with Maybank Visa Debit Card, don't see any problems yet, just placed my order waiting to be shipped. Unless they only charge my MVDC after shipping that i don't know. haha. Anyone mind sharing his/her experience with Amazon?
*
they will only charge you once your items are ready to be shipped, tried with a credit card before. if something goes wrong with your card, they only contact you when they are ready to ship your item. happened to me when I was using AmBank's debit card. forced me to use credit card. sad.gif

didn't see any problem like this for Public Bank's Visa Electron card... maybe that's why it may take a long time to get the card. sweat.gif

I tried using the Maybank Visa Debit Card to purchase items from Amazon, but for unknown reason my transaction cannot be go through. stating i got some problem with my card. Unless someone can enlighten me whether i key in my wrong card number 3 times or the Visa Debit Card can't be used in Amazon online for transaction?
*
so it's true that Maybank visa debit card can't be used for online purchases at the moment... maybe you want to try to apply for a PBVE card or tunemoney.com card? both of them are proven to be usable online. smile.gif

but a debit card is pretty useless for me if it doesn't do online transactions. don't mind about the annual fees, just allow me to do my online shopping without fail and I'm pretty much satisfied... smile.gif

Haha, they did not charge me RM12, I got it free. tongue.gif

Btw, I do love their free annual fees, which is quite good. Unlike Public Bank, you need to spend >RM1200 to get your annual fees of RM24 to be waived.
*
open new account with Maybank visa debit card - free

convert from ATM card - RM12

i've read all of the post.. since most people favour MVD and PBVE eh? wub.gif

i'm the MVD holder.. and just applied for PBVE.. hope that i cud get it fast..
btw.. what type of savings that PBVE have? islamic or conventional?
*
i think it's the other way around... for now I prefer the PBVE over MVD... but MVD is very convenient so hopefully something will be done about the problems it's facing right now. smile.gif

If i'm not mistaken, i got my Public Bank Visa Electron PIN No just a few days (less than a week) after i received my card at my designated branch. You can start using your PBVE even if you do not have the PIN no. You just need to go to deposit money into your PBVE account via Public Bank cash deposit machine. Then you can make purchase at Amazon.com right away. Make sure you key-in the correct billing address.

By the way, you might also want to register for PBVE online banking so that you can keep track of your spending from time to time. It's a free service.
*
i registered for my PBVE through online app form. maybe that's why it took so long to process the PIN number? Will try to call customer service again. Impossible that a PIN number can take so long to issue. sad.gif

hmm.gif i'm considering it. but i want to use it for gaming purposes like buying games online, buying game time online and stuff.
Some time ago, when i asked the customer service about PBVE, they said:

"You may utilise your debit card for internet transaction provided the merchant is not categorised as a mail order, gaming or auto debit merchant"

I was curious why gaming was not allowed so I emailed them a second time. They said:

"We wish to advise that it depends on the nature of business that the merchant identified themself while they applied for their credit card acceptance facility with their banker. You may try your transaction first."

duh.. if i'm buying something from electronic arts or blizzard, i think they would definitely identify themself as a gaming merchant. doh.gif

Anyone have any experience using PBVE for buying games online?
*
heh? like that also can? never heard of such stuff leh. sweat.gif

i think there's no problem buying from anywhere as long as they accept visa though. it's not logical to have such a restriction.

EON Impian card ehh? for starters, not a very attractive name indeed. anyone willing to try it?

PBVE is giving me a very headache-y time. seems like they've sent my PIN number but i didn't received it. now they want me to wait AGAIN because since they can only send out my PIN once, they now have to cancel my current card and issue another card in two weeks time, to be collected at the nearest PB branch. Another two weeks to wait for my new card, and further two weeks to wait for my PIN number. Ohh gawd this is foolish. So far none of the debit cards have really made me satisfied. sad.gif

I'm pretty much better off borrowing my mum's credit card... sweat.gif

PBVE is the best choice so far, but bad experience for me nonetheless... refer past posts from me for more... but still I give them the benefit of the doubt. they do have a good reputation as the best debit card around.
