Hi all. I just applied this card pb day2day debit card, and was able to verify it with Paypal no problems. I've did a mini comparison between this card and visa electron.

One thing is that there is no name being printed on this card. Anyway you can have a look at the comparison that I did here
http://www.alexjong.com/index.php/20090617...debit-card.html

I haven't tried withdrawing funds to this card yet, as I'm waiting ill the end of the months.. But I think it shouldn't really be a problem because it works exactly like Visa Electron. Will keep you guys updated on this issue by next week as I'll be doing a withdrawal by then.

Anyway, if this card is able to receive funds from paypal, then I'll prolly cancel my visa electron due to the annual fees. But I would only recommend this card to those who does not have a savings account with Public Bank. Those with a savings account, I don't think this is a good idea because I never like the idea of the debit card is link directly to ur savings account if you know what I mean wink.gif

Hi Nanakopy87. The reason why I don't recommend those who already have a savings account with Public Bank is due to security reason for the Debit card. It's exactly the same reason why I never upgraded my maybank ATM card to the latest Cherry Debit card.

Ok, let say I have a savings account with Public bank and all my salary will go into that public bank savings account. I have over 10k inside the account, and one fine day suddenly someone stole my wallet. And I only realized this maybe 6 hours later. During that 6 hours, whoever took my wallet with the debit card inside could have gone on a spending spree with all my hard earn salary. Some more this card doesn't have a name printed on it. So you pretty much understand the vulnerability for the person who has this account.

My reasoning for someone who does not have this card, but wish to apply for a Visa Electron Card. You might as well apply this card instead simply because : -
1. On the spot you can collect the card itself without waiting for 3 weeks
2. Cheaper annual fees
3. If you intend to sell stuff online, you can have an additional payment method.

Well, that's the main reason why I got it in the first place. It's kinda like another visa electron card for me but at a cheaper price annual. And my salary does not go into that account. So if let say whoever steals my card, will have no use for it because after initial deposit of 250, i went and withdraw 230 so leaving a minimum of RM20 inside. Hehehe. So if I intend of buying or paying something in the near future, I'll just drop by Public Bank and make the deposit.

Anyway, it's just my opinion only. But for those who have a current account with Public Bank, probably what you can do is transfer all the money to the current account, and only leave the minimal amount inside the savings account. Just to be on the safe side.. Again, this is only my opinion. Hope this clears up a bit of confusion wink.gif

I'll be trying to do a withdrawal by next week, and if it's successful I'll keep you guys posted in here. So before you go jump and apply for this card, let me be the white mouse to test this first. Unless someone in here would want to give it a go wink.gif

nice article you have in ur blog..... i ask a questions in ur blog about PB Day 2 Day Debit Card
i will collect my PB visa electron this thursday...

i'm still confused  rclxub.gif  which card i want to use to verify my paypal....
currently i don't have any PB saving/current account...

what i'm attracted to PB Day 2 Day Debit Card is its annual fee... only rm12...
btw, if i want to open PB saving acc, how much do i need to deposit money??

Added on June 23, 2009, 11:30 pmif i'm not mistaken, PB visa electron annual fee will be waived (rm0) if we use certain amount of money in PB visa electron ...
am i right??

Thanks..

Anyway, my suggestion for you is that. Collect the card this Thursday first. And use it probably for a year, since the card is free for the first year. But once you collect the card right, make sure you go to the customer service there to apply for their online account. This can only be done via customer service, and not through ATM. They'll give you a temporary pin number, so that you can actually access your statement online.

Since you have the Visa Electron now, then you can use that first to verify your Paypal account. Opening a bank account with Public Bank is minimum of RM250. But you can withdraw it out later. So it's not necessary for you to use PB Day 2 Day debit card for now.

If I'm not mistaken the latest one, is that if you use more than RM1.2k the annual fees is waived.

if i wan to pay installment by maybank2u online, is that possible? because i don't own a cc.
i was thinking to buy laptop online by paying installment.

Hi Leon,
I'm not sure if that's possible or not. But you can try to check with the computer shops first. But the computer shops here in Kuching, was able to sort of like get a loan for you to purchase a laptop. And it will automatically be debited from your bank account. But I think they need proof of your salary slip and bank statement. You can give it a try though..

Hi this actually happened to me once when I used my credit card. What happened was that, I went and swiped my card and it took a very long time for them to process the transaction. The counter got tired of waiting, ended up canceled the transaction by pulling out my card. I didn't get my refund until 3-4 weeks after that day. Try waiting another few more days check your balance again. Good luck..

just got my debit card today
my atm card was damage but some they gave me a MasterCard debit card as my new atm card frm RHB

question here

1. The transactions using debit card ... will it be charge with 2 or 3 % processing fee like credit card?
Basically it depends on the merchant if they want to charge you the 2% or 3%. Places like supermarket, or Petrol station they won't charge you the additional processing fees.

QUOTE
2. Is there any annual fee?
I'm assuming you are using this card.

• RM1 per withdrawal at other MEPS ATMs
• RM8 per withdrawal at all other ATMs via MasterCard network

Other Charges
• Service fee of RM20 for sales draft request

Yup.. Unless you sell stuff then probably you can accumulate first... But if you intend to buy something using paypal. It iwll first deduct the $1.95 inside paypal then followed by charging the balance from ur card wink.gif

Can, as you already know but you can't sign up for online account.

As for Public Bank Visa Electron, you must go through the counter in order to apply for the Online Banking.

But as for the PB Day2Day Visa Electron card, I'm not sure if you can actually go apply via the ATM machine. I tried to apply the other day, but it wasn't successful. Probably it was due to the fact that I've already got an account with PB from the VE.

Who knows this could be a loop hole..

Wow.. If the cherry card now can be used online especially with Paypal. Then it would probably be the best debit card now, as it doesn't charge annual fees.. Anyone care to try and do a withdrawal via paypal ? Hehehe...

Wow.. Apparently MBB Visa Debit Card seems to be the best option for now. So anyone tried to withdraw using this card already? I understand that MBB exchange rates are better compared to PB..
