citigold requirement is got 200k in your account then only eligible
*
yes you are right, you need 200K cash in deposit account
money in other unit trust/shares/assets are not counted of course
but your 200K could be used in citigold's unit trusts etc

however they have a strange exception
if however for some reason you don't have 200K in hand
you put in 100K first, then within 6 months or something it has to become 200K

Well, i did email Citibank asking about their Citigold last week and here is some of the answers from them :
Citigold customer will need to maintain RM200,000 AUM. The total
Assets Under Management (AUM) of RM200,000 may be from a combination of
the following:

- Savings Account (SA)
- Current Account (CA)
- Time Deposit (TD)
- Investment (UT)
- Housing Loan (HL)
- ODTD
- Insurance (BancAssurance)
*
Yes correct, this AUM are the things you can do with your money with Citibank
"Asset Under Management" they hold your 200K under them.
Any loans and assets outside not counted. Unless you have cash outside which you agree to transfer to citibank within a set ammount of time.

And by the way, just like HSBC Premier, there will be no handling charge when you withdraw money using your Citigold VISA debit card at any overseas Citibank ATM.

I used my regurlar (non citigold) Malaysian Citibank ATM card for my checking account (not savings, dunno) to withdraw several times in US, no handling charges, plus the coversion rate was very good, better than VISA/Master card of course. Comperative to money changer.

Yup ... conversation rates are good, no handling/admin/withdrawal fees but the main hassle is to find the bank itself. Finding the bank itself in a foreign land can be an adventure on its own.  ohmy.gif

You were charged some fees right ? It should be between RM8 to RM12 if you use the Cirrus (or equivalent) network.
*
Nope none whatsoeever, when I say no overhead, i mean it, nothing. Come back and check your current account statements.
And the exchange rate is very good!

Of course if you use Cirrus, PLUS, VISA Interlink there will be charges of about RM10, but Citibank ATMs in US big cities are very easy to find, not like Citibank in Singapore find 50 other ATMs then only got one 1 Citibank ATM. And Malaysia even worst about below 10 centres.

In NYC and LA Citibank ATMs are everywhere.

Oh. I have always been under the impression that there is some sort of handling fee for regular Citibanking customers to withdraw money at overseas Citibank ATM. Thanks for clearing that up.
*
mine is a checking account. rhye? what is yours
we need to double check if it is the same for savings or not
not sure savings may be charged for overseas transactions
UPDATE: however i heard the exchange rate is not so competitive already
quite high similiar to VISA

------------------------------------------------------------------

you know i am very impressed with Citibank ATM machines, almost same software around the world.
the one of the few very ATM machines (if at all there are others) which actually talks to you in your local currency and foreign currency instead of just letting the system calculate in the background without you knowing the exchange rate.

Let's say you have a malaysian ATM card and you put it into a new york Citibank ATM.

You select Cash Withdrawal, USD $500.
The screen will confirm:
QUOTE
Your MYR XXX Checking Account Balance: RM 20,000 (yes it says RM)

You want to withdraw: USD $5,000
That equals to : (the money converted in RM using the exchange rate which is the actual ammount dedcuted from your account)

After you do this transaction your MYR XXX Checking Account Balance would be:
(blah blah blah in RM)

Shall I procced? Yes/No

one word, impressive!

hye, wah you also used checking account, then we need confirmation from another forumer using savings account who has tried overseas. i guess of course the conversion would be the same but i wonder there would be any service charge imposed.

the malaysian website however says both savings and checking accounts can be withdrwan overseas, so doubt about whether it works or not, but just charges.
