Maybank debit visa card can't even used for online transactions at all. Both paypal and google checkout decline the card.

Have you guys done this? maybe it has something to do with the overseas flag?

From the maybank FAQ
11. Can I use my Maybankard Visa Debit outside Malaysia?
You can use your Maybankard Visa Debit abroad provided you activate the overseas flag prior to your departure. The activation process can be done through our Maybank ATMs or through our 24 hours customer service centre at 1-300-88-6688. Your Maybankard Visa Debit can then be used for retail purchases at any VISA merchants and cash withdrawal at any ATMs with a VISA PLUS logo.

Tried that. I activate from ATM to PERMANENT already, still cannot verify paypal and google checkout but can be used to pay my hosting bills at namecheap.com

I have no idea if its me or what:

Last Tuesday I was pumping fuel in Shell station island pump no.7 on the Shah Alam highway. As usual the pre-authorized debit took place with the amount of RM150.00.

On Friday as usual they credit the RM150.00 back and till today no deductions were made for the petrol which was RM60.00.

They deduct at the end of the month or what? Just checked my balance at maybank2u online and still the same balance.

Edit: By the way, I am using Maybank's Visa Debit

Maybank seriously need to buck up their services. I just got my replacement card for the past 2 weeks and when I insert the card at every petrol station, it got declined everytime.

I'm going to change to Public Bank tomorrow and take advantage of their new Mastercard.

^^ Just go get a replacement card, I've been using my Maybank Visa Debit card to pay for petrol at Petronas and it always works.

Not again? If it is, then it would be the 3rd replacement card. Besides, their Visa Debit cannot be used for online transaction, afterall.

Ironically Namecheap, the company behind domain and webhosting business, accepted my payment for billing using Maybank debit visa card.

Well so far, only that one.

After dealing with so much problems, I decided to ask something here.

Anyone here purchase anything from yesasia before? If yes and it succeed, can you please tell me what debit card are you using and how long would I need to wait before I can use the card (if apply for new registration)?

I have something rather important to purchase from yesasia now. So far I've tried MBB Visa Debit (which is virtually useless) and Freedom MOL (which requires securecode and have been waiting for almost a week now for the securecode to arrive via mail to my house).

hello all
i would like to apply a debit card primary for purchasing stuff online . is maybank visa debit card a good choice ?
atm i only have account at maybank and no other bank else ..
*
Be reminded that Maybank debit card is useless when it comes to conducting transaction online. There are other alternatives such as PBB Visa Electron, Ambank NexG and Eon's MOL Prepaid Freedom card.

I've tried with Maybank card to verify my paypal and my Google checkout but all these payment gateways rejected Maybank debit card. Although Maybank has promised by end of 2008 that we will be able to conduct online transactions, it's still clear that we are unable to do that at the moment.

All Public Bank ATM do support "UnionPay". Besides that, Public Bank ATM also supports MEPS, VISA, VISA Electron, PLUS, Mastercard, Maestro, ATM Bersama (from Indonesia) and NETS (Singapore).

Public Bank ATM card?
Did they rolled out new services for their ATM already?

As far as I know, they were two separate things in the past. hmm.gif

Yup, you can buy the debit card from 7 eleven but your parents may need to sign the consent form provided together with the starter pack. As for bank in money, yes, they can do through cash deposit machine available. smile.gif

Public Bank introducing new debit card PB Day2day Debit Card. Seem like they want to replace their ATM card with this VISA debit Card.

They offer 1% rebate on grocery & petrol until year end.

What do you want to know about NexG? Every card has their pros and cons. They work well on online purchases but I somehow dislike their monthly charges.

You can apply for any debit card from Public bank if you are under 18, provided you are 12 years old and above and you will need to have your parents sign the consent form. smile.gif

Oh kk. I tried to verify my card on visa which may work but it rejects. Then i tried my maybank debit card, before it rejects, now it show another weird ass error :
Before you can add this credit card to another account, you must contact the PayPal Credit Card Team at cardproblems@paypal.com. A customer service representative will respond to your request shortly. If you would rather add a different credit card to your PayPal account, you may do so at any time. Thank you for your cooperation.

As far as I know there are only a number of cards that work with Paypal. NexG, EON MOL Debit card and Public Bank Visa Electron are the cards that works with Paypal based on personal experience. As for Maybank debit card, it's not working for most of online transactions. smile.gif

The only successful transaction conducted online with Maybank Visa Debit is when I paid my hosting to namecheap. Other than that, most of the times, it won't work.
