Astro uses variable bit rate, so it is constantly changing all the time, depending on the scene and motion of the video.

*
Still in the VBR, you can set the min and max bit rate. If too low, then when you see something like flash or sparkling water (fro example), it will look blocky because the data is compressed to max since the difference between pixel is almost none. smile.gif

A software bug in the ultra box that causes data corruption on the sim card/smart card?
*
If data always corrupted, then it is hardware issue, but too many different issue most likely software related.

When booting up, the self test is probably adequate to filter out possible hardware failure in general. smile.gif

I have an ASTRO IPTV in my apartment with 10Mbps asked to upgrade to 30Mbps and was told not supported. What is so ironic is that my neighbor has a stand alone 30Mbps maxis fiber! Informed Astro about that, was told to change mine to Dish setup and apply for standalone 30Mbps. Why can they just upgrade? Can anyone explains why?
*
Old condo are on copper wiring for phone lines like yongtjunkit said. So, fiber can only go to the switching on the ground. Then the signal has to be converted to electrical and data is converted to electrical signal. There are limitation on how far it can go with this technology and normally the limit goes to 30Mbps reliably.

They cannot support IPTV because they need to have allocated bandwidth for video, leaving the bandwidth for Internet lower than 30Mbbps. That is why they are unable to provide you the package.

🤔, if there’s any technical issues such as decoder kaput, requires installer to fix at customers premises, wonder how would astro handle that?
If wait till after 1st April, customers would probably not be happy with Astro

Astro is essential service. No restriction on that smile.gif

Literally appeared, for less than 1 minute.

Now Fox Movies already resumes as usual.
I don't remember whether many other channels shows this or not...
*
This is normal since the channel is from the US. Basically it happens twice a year in February/March and September/October when the sun is aligned behind satellite at same elevation angle causing solar outage and usually lasted in minutes.

Wanna ask this Sharp TV model got problem or not? Coz I plugged astro to this tv and all I got is just sound and the HDCP nonsense
*
I downloaded the manual and found nothing mentioned about HDPC. Most likely that this is an old model that has no HDPC compliance. However, you can go around it by using a splitter.

Try Google for Bypass HDPC.

Hopefully they are not going to cut Wrestlemania this weekend. The past 2 years they cut off some parts of Wrestlemania just to fit local ads. WTF betul
*
Any program even live in the US also got time slot for advertisement. 1 hour drama actual length is around 40 min, padded with ads. It is up to the party that buy the program to fill in or not the ads slot.

I'm facing similar issue too! I am using Astro Ultrabox, but it should be the same right? Chatted with Astro and Unifi's customer service, both saying that there is no issue on their end.
This happened since yesterday midnight.
*
Their side no issue because they are not watching laugh.gif

Hahahaha so the issue is with Astro? So I just gotta wait till they resolve it? Actually my mum's the one that's watching but looking at it buffering irritates me.

I believe the cloud storage service is from 3rd party. What they see in their operating room is from their own storage.

So, the easy answer to customer would be no problem seen biggrin.gif

I don't have problem because I'm not streaming from cloud these few days laugh.gif

Anyway, Internet traffics are congested lately due to MCO.

Weird leh...

I'm using Maxis Fibre, and I do not experience any streaming issues on Astro Go now.
Few hours ago, there is some poor video quality issue, but right now seems normal ady.
Some TM's CDN for Astro streaming server related issue?
*
Most likely related to certain nodes that can't handle heavy traffic. Sometimes the hardware can bogged down to heavy traffic and need reboot biggrin.gif

Previous days I try using Astro Go, no issue also.

Even "Connected PVR" users are facing some issues now.

That banner won't go away.

So I would call this Astro Streaming Server Crisis 2020, as it affected pretty much all streaming services from Astro, from VOD to Astro Go.

Last ngiht watch program from Search menu, the program streaming just fine on HD.

THis morning I think there is minor changes in GUI I think. When enter the number of channel to watch, usually you see the channel but now I see channel and small windows for current and upcoming program. I think was not shown before hmm.gif

Now respost even to show Program Guide very slow. CAn take probably close to 10s to pop up. Changing channel also slow to switch. I think this is not Internet related.

Hey guys does anyone know how to solve my issue? My Astro Ultra Box have been working fine until a few days ago after a power trip during a thunderstorm. Since then my Ultra Box is facing an issue where it is unable to connect to internet through wifi. Anyone faced a similar issue or knows how to solve this problem?

This happened to me 3 times already if not mistaken.

I have recorded program. When I fast forwarded the program, the UBox just turned off. No light at all as if PSU is off. Press and hold power button would not reset the unit. I have to power down the adapter and then power up to get the unit functioned again.

Bug?

HBO broadcast that movie to all it’s pay TV operators then Astro can replace the show/ movie with another one?

Astro is fed with program purchased by several providers through Astro receiving satellite. Therefore, even live telecast will also be delayed through Astro to certain extend (depending on program) for censorship etc. before programs are uploaded again to Astro satellite to its customers.

Comedy Central on Unifi TV does not delay the channel by 1 hour like Astro.

Last time Astro said because Comedy Central channel shall now reach to more viewers as the channel brought to the TV platform, and Unifi TV viewer's isn't as much as Astro, so delay by 1 hour is "necessary".

Delay 1 hour is one thing. But who knows, what they do is just slotting in ads, and nothing else?
Like now, reduced workforce in Astro...
The channel delay is still there, but who knows in reality, they aren't modifying the content also, besides putting that text scroller randomly, telling viewers to stay at home to stop the spread of COVID-19?

You think the censorshipman is so hardworking to monitor 24/7 on every single channels to see if there's "unsuitable content"? I don't think so. You think what, China is it? 😂

By any chance and at any point of time, if the censorshipman on Astro is slacking off at work, I would rather see them not letting the public know it, cuz for sure "those communities" will make noise.
*
Any broadcaster need to follow regulation on censorship whatever. Delay can be due to available program slot and program priority. Even RTM also missed censoring movie even they have plenty of time (i.e not even live feed) biggrin.gif

What you mean by "Delay can be due to available program slot and program priority."? What I mean is, the delaying works done by Astro themselves, not from channel provider.

Standard censorship on TV broadcasts sure would have, such as censoring F words, which is quite common sense la...
I'd rather see the censorship works being done by the channel provider themselves, rather than Astro meddling with their channel, including delaying few minutes from the original.
IMO, Astro is being very extra to go and delay the feed for the sake of censorship. Duh, as if Malaysia's crime rate will confirm go down a lot if they do that  dry.gif

Same goes to Comedy Central... It is more adult oriented, and I believe most of the shows are rated 18, that's why they think it is necessary to delay it, to "screen" the content and see if there's "unsuitable elements to Malaysians".
Seriously, if those viewer don't like the channel, instead of go complain to Astro for "promoting/encouraging negative values the youths", why not they just set a PIN to Channel Block it or use Parental Control feature?
We're not paying Astro to censor content la  mad.gif
*
Yes delay by Astro due to Astro need to follow its program slot time. The program provider will not do any censoring because they just feed the program to their satellite only to be downloaded by each country service providers. Then each country will do censoring and then upload to its own satellite to be received by subscribers. The program provider do not provide customized service to each of his customer.

Basically means, use your laptop, and open Astro Go using browser.
Connect HDMI to your TV.

Tablets that supports display output (either HDMI or VGA, or any), can just output it to whatever screens you want (TV, projectors, monitor, etc).

Anyhow, it shall be wired connection, and not wireless type like Chromecast or Miracast.
*
Many can support something like Direct WiFi nowadays and so do TVs.
