Yeah, one company is a conservative, the other liberal. Itâs all political.
The Star name has a history of its own, so rebranding it back to what it was would be a great idea.
Though, they couldâve retained the FOX name had Murdoch not sold 21st Century FOX in the first place. But why did he sell it?
Good question.
According to the BBC, "Disney wants Fox's business to create a larger suite of movies, television shows, and sports, as it invests in its own online streaming platforms to compete with Netflix and Amazon."
Then Disney dropped the Fox brand, so that Fox could focus more on their broadcast network in the US, as well as their news outlets as mentioned earlier. Disney picked up the 20th Century division where Fox had left off, to avoid confusion with the âFox Entertainmentâ brands, though Disney can legally use the Fox name.
For example, Fox Searchlight was renamed to Searchlight Pictures, 20th Century Fox was rebranded to just 20h Century Studios, and so on. And now, Disney has planned to rebrand their Fox channels to Star, as Disney+ will introduce the Star brand later this month.
