Some screen grabs from Astro Aura and Rania channels. Clean feed though (for now, we'll see how it goes).
Btw most (or all) of the content offerings from those channels are similar to unifi TV's Pesona channel. Well, it's distributed by Surya Citra Media, the network that brings Indonesian viewers Indosiar and SCTV.
From Astro Aura:
From Astro Rania:
Bahasa Malaysia & English subtitles are available for select shows.
(I'm back. It's been a long time.) Wait, more Indonesian channels for Astro? Hooray?
Personally, IMO, I think they should add more Indonesian contents from MNC Group since they dropped MNC Channel off UnifiTV last year. I think it's because MNC's programs deserved a better spotlight but was bogged down with too much plot twists in their sinetrons, excess advertising and obvious brand plugs (*cof cof productplacement cof cof*) in their shows. No wonder they lost so much money and not caring about quality and technology much... It's quite sad.
But still, I could expect more from them, but still... I still don't like the way Indonesian TV is going nowadays...
Erm it's not "more" Indonesian channels on Astro...
Bintang and Pelangi channel will cease broadcast on 31 May 2020. So we all can assume that Astro Rania (HD) and Astro Aura (HD) is here to replace it, and part of Indo Pek.
Ah, so it's a replacement channel, then? Then again, these 2 channels could be known as a superstation that airs shows from Indonesia. Although I'm expecting they will add more from other content providers soon. For now, it's SCM that will import these shows to Astro. I think I remember they were airing news shows from Kompas TV back then, but that was later axed out when the old channels will be shut down.
I wonder what will happen to those Indo films that used to air on the Pelangi channel? Will they move to somewhere else, or it will be an Astro First exclusive? Guess we will never know.
Looks that Astro Njoi is pretty desperate these days to tell you to subscribe to Njoi Prepaid channels.
You say STOP, but Njoi say NO. You think they would let you off so easily? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 What to do? Free satellite TV service is like that one la. Even though you enjoy watching Astro channels without monthly fees, so they annoy you a bit during this Raya. Send one SMS not enough, so they multiple times in a day, to remind you to spend money on them.
Maybe because SMS messages from Njoi is not considered "spam", so perhaps that explains why sending "STOP" wouldn't work like how you would to stop receiving ads or spam SMS from the sender.
Btw those who subscribe to Njoi, do you guys face similar situation like this recently? ----------------------------------- UPDATE: Just few minutes ago, he still receive another SMS from Njoi... 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Njoi seriously don't wanna let him go
Lesson learnt: They won't 'senyum' at you until the day you go subscribe to their 'Pek Senyuman'
Huh, that's bizarre. Usually, they have the right to stop sending you messages immediately the moment you texted STOP or UNREG, but... It seems like Astro just won't let you go and keeps pushing you to subscribe to their service. Even if you have ever cancelled yours.
Isn't this violating laws for them to keep doing this on a regular basis with no rights for you to stop it?
After 1-2 weeks of crawlers running on the screen that the 3 Disney Channel's may be dropped, Singtel decided to put the plug to drop them .... The same goes for Starhub, which has also dropped them earlier today .... Seems like Disney is greedy and asking for a ton of money. DreamWorks Ch also launched today (as a replacement).
Or, there could be a possibility. Disney+ will launch across the SEA region in the next few months. They've recently announced that D+ will be launched in Japan this month, so I'm guessing they will probably follow suit here, too.
If they launched, I'm guessing Disney+ will be a Starhub-exclusive platform in Singapore, Astro in Malaysia, and... Indihome in Indonesia? Well, who knows.
Or they might as well launch it as a standalone OTT service? Similar like Netflix?
It's more likely that they will, and at least include prepaid plans that viewers can subscribe to, much like how Viu and Spotify let you buy 1-day or 1-week premium pass without the use of a credit card.
But, let's see if this is actually plausible or not.
During MCO, many customers begging Astro to open up cartoon channels for free, eventually Astro opened up Cartoon Network. Now complimentary viewing of channels has ended, and some customers now turn against Cartoon Network, urging Malaysians to "ban" or "boycott" Cartoon Network because of some LGBT "issues".
Hmm, what you guys think?
Keep in mind that those pride special promos you see ONLY applies to certain Cartoon Network feeds OUTSIDE the Southeast Asia region.
Cartoon Network Asia would never air these promos because they already know that those are a very sensitive issue which is considered taboo in some countries, especially the religiously conservative Malaysia. CN even edits certain shows which had featured a gay/lesbian couple (especially the kissing scene, of course), to adhere to the local broadcasting regulations.
It could have been CN's fault for not redirecting their FB page based on region, which was why these promos would pop up unexpectedly, even though CN Asia has a separate facebook page.
Off topic. Seems sirius tv have some new info [attachmentid=10522589]
Ooh~ Goodie! Looks like Sirius is about to take over Malaysia!

Just want to ask why 8TV (channel 148) always blackout during airing programme. Others channels don't have this issue.
Maybe it could have been some technical issue, or it could be because the original broadcaster not allowing 8TV to broadcast its shows outside its FTA signal, which they shouldn't have done that, because they have the right for them to air a certain show for free, even for Astro or Unifi TV.
F.... By this point, looks like astro is pushing their customers to upgrade to newer boxes, especially those who rely on old TV sets that are slowly becoming obsolete over time.
But the good news is that Astro could be upgrading ALL of its SD channels very soon. Only time will tell when.
- lazy to bother about aspect ratio - not too concern about aspect ratio - assume that viewers don't care about aspect ratio; not everyone cares about blackbars shown on top and bottom of the screen - "my engineering course teaches me "SD is 4:3, HD is 16:9", so Astro Awani is SD quality, so 4:3 is the correct one " - "care so much for what? as long got picture appear on screen, then I happy already." - "stretched image and letterbox only mah. it's not that you can't watch also." - nobody in Astro tells me to make it 16:9 fit to screen, so since no ones tells me that, then I better don't create unnecessary trouble by 'messing around the settings'. - "stretched image? tell that customer to change the aspect ratio mode to "LB Expand" on their TV or Astro box. if the customer still not convinced, tell that customer 'SD is 4:3, HD is 16:9'" - "I just select and follow the predefined/preset settings on my system here. I don't want to touch other stuff. I don't wanna lose my job for creating trouble later. " - "there's too much office politics here. I better don't create new office politic just because of aspect ratio thinggy. - "huh? aspect ratio? what is that? I only know SD and HD." - "aspect ratio is a very complicated, complex, and confusing stuff to understand. I better don't touch it." - "tell that customer, because SD is transmitted in 576i while HD is transmitted in 1080i which gives you 5x more picture detail than SD.... use irrelevant answers with some technical terms in it, then customer would buy it and keep their mouth shut. - "customer still not convinced? just act dumb."
Relatable on every aspect.
Meanwhile in Indonesia, RCTI and SCTV, even though they have HD channels, they still stuck in 1990's era technology. Movies and shows are being aired at the wrong aspect ratio. What's supposed to be made for widescreen being stretched to fit 4:3, what supposed to be made for 4:3 in letterboxed gets boxed even further in 16:9.
Yikes. I thought by the year 2020, we already have neutral widescreen HD format like the other national TV networks.
Anyone know this channel in YT? They on acid or smtg?
Of course, a 10-year-old Roblox/Minecraft fan made this.
Kids these days are always imagining things with their own cellphone, but has no knowledge about how to make it real. Imagine how surprised would it be if their parents found out he/she was making Astro channel mockups because they thought Astro should make new channels every day.
Sometimes mockups can be created with many things, like say using animation creator sites to make things like idents, lineups, and such. The worst offender has got to be the ones made with GoAnimate/Vyond.
I guess their parents forgot to put their Google Family Link on.

Except if that kid has talent and skills to make decent mockups using his dad/brother's laptop, he could make something like this.
Astro's sense of humour, to share stuff like these.
Meanwhile in Indonesia: "64.5m IDR for that? Get yourself one of these, and you could be enjoying all the PL matches. Yes, all of it. It's less than 2m IDR."
That's right, Mola TV held all the rights to air the Premier League in Indonesia now. And even WWE, too. And it doesn't cost more than 70k IDR per month. Astro? Eh, big difference from here to there.
Today I found out that FX has ceased transmission in Indonesia since last October. I think this has to do with the launch of Disney+ Hotstar and FNG basically shaking up the Asian pay-TV market ever since Netflix dkk. took over the world of television
Or maybe it was because of FX's low ratings and their provocative programme which some people find really "not suitable for conservatives"?
Well English programmes not really the fan-favourite for common people. But hopefully Astro did not make that kinda decision, FX is my favourite channels for limited award-winning series.. 😭
I agree. FX is too good to let go for most viewers. So far, I've enjoyed several Showtime shows that were being shown on FX before it was pulled out.
But, apparently, the Philippines also saw FX being pulled out of their platforms, too. Confirmed when I was diving into the Sky Cable and Cignal channel list pages. So, I guess, FX is now exclusively available in Singapore and Malaysia. And I'll hope they stay that way, now that FX has exited other Asian countries due to FNG's descision.
