The auto contract renewal is mainly applicable if your subscription has the new TV packs.

The moment you sign up or switch to the new packs, it means you are deemed consent on that auto contract renewal rule.

Let's say now you're on the 23rd out of the 24th month of the contract period, and you don't want anymore contract afterwards. Then you'll need to inform this to their customer service, and then you'll have to pay the pack price of 0 month contract from the 25th month onwards. Example:

Premium Pack 1
24 month contract price: RM129.99 per month
0 month contract price: RM154.99 per month

The price difference for their new packs between 24 months to 0 month contract period is up to RM25 per month.

You'll receive a SMS reminder 1 month before the auto contract renewal kicks in.

It is inevitable. More and more linear channels will be closed in the future.

The reason why they impose contract auto renewal rule, is to continue tying your legs, and they don't want you to suka suka terminate Astro anytime you want, as it is making them financially insecure and volatile.
To them, if you don't want ongoing contract, then choose the 0 month contract option, which you'll pay a bit more every month.
If still not happy, then don't subscribe Astro at all in the first place. It's as simple as that.

They'll notify you on the 23rd month that your contract will auto renew. If you don't want, then tell them to change to 0 month contract option.
That way, it's considered as no contract auto renewal.

To you, it's wrong. But to them, they find that it is the right way for their pay TV business to sustain in the long run.

VSS - more channels termination. Even their streaming bundle is too complex to understand compared to unifi tv.

Same goes here at 69.90 i can get full channels and apps like bbc player; spotv, bein sports, netflix, siar, disney hotstar & lionsgate play.

Looks like they don't want to let you go...
Reason either one below, or both, or all:
1) Lousy hardware
2) Lousy software quality
3) Lousy engineers

Astro has been facing financial problems for many years due to various of reasons, mainly are customer terminating its service, more and more video streaming services, and increase costs of content due to USD>MYR currency exchange. Pay TV providers around the world has been facing the same situation, and even for a monopolistic company like Astro can't run far away from this.

Because their profit is low, so their operating costs will need to be low too. To sustain their business in the long run, now they offer a choice to their employees where Astro will compensate the employee if they resign/leave the company voluntarily. Because the lesser the staffs working in Astro, the lesser the money they need to pay ALL their staffs.

Even TM also offers VSS to its staffs now... But this time it's open to their 50 years old and above staffs...
