QUOTE(jackytan.tt @ Jan 25 2021, 07:57 AM) The rebranding to Utsav is because Disney plans to use βStarβ as the new name for all the FOX-branded channels outside the US (the ones not owned by FOX Corp). LOL if this turns out to be true. FOX purposely remove the Star brand and replace them with FOX branding, and now Disney wants to rebrand them to Star just like the old days. We all know that Disney does not want to be associated with political toxic brand of FOX News, that's why 20th Century FOX Studios is now 20th Century Studios, but bringing back Star branding is pretty funny.. πBasically, Disney pretty much stole the βStarβ brand from Star India, just because itβs a nice name and they already own it. So we might see something like this in the future: FOX -> Star FOXlife -> StarWorld (maybe) FOX Family Movies -> Star Family Movies FOX+ -> STAR+ Star Vijay -> Utsav Vijay (or Vijay TV) StarPlus -> Utsav Plus Eventually, we will follow suit. How about: FOX Movies > 20th Century Movies FOX > 20th Century Channel FOX Life > FreeForm (Disney-Fox channel in the U.S.) FOX Sports > Star Sports (Lol 20th Century Sports sound terrible) jackytan.tt liked this post

QUOTE(Mr Loh A+ @ Jan 25 2021, 02:15 PM) It could, but for now, Disney treat 20th Century as seperate entities. They free to produce anything and not realy tied to Disney PG contents and other strict rules. However this could also happen: FOX > Ceased FOX Life > Ceased FOX Movies > Ceased Please subscribe to Disney+ ππ This post has been edited by fandom96: Jan 25 2021, 04:59 PM |

QUOTE(Mr Loh A+ @ Jan 29 2021, 10:27 PM) I think what he meant is that Njoi viewers may need to pay to access channels like AEC HD once all SD simulcast channels ceased on Astro. π
I just realize that NJOI users need to pay for Astro TVIQ. The one SD blurry-quality channel with content from the age when Japanese attack Malaya with no new programmes, is a premium paid channel on NJOI??? |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Jan 31 2021, 12:26 AM) This is called "another source of income"Β Well it is a side income for those who never subscribe Astro before, and straight go for NJOI. But for people who downgraded from Astro to NJOI and subscirbe this channel, they must be stupid π Astro should at least give a fresh programmes for that channel though, educational and kids programme are the easiest to obtain, rather than Malay-focused programmes, because its limited to Malaysia. Btu kdis programmes, regardless language, they can still buy them. Because from business perspective, they know that having UPSR/PT3/SPM or home based learning channels like TV Pendidikan is not gonna earn much money, and advertisers ain't so convinced with the viewership. Right now because schools can't be open as usual, they got no choice but to implement it back in the form of like Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).Β Slotting in airtimes in existing NTV7 and TV9 slots is still cheaper than creating a whole new channel, which would costs even more money and time. Media Prima gets another source of income from government (since they sell their airtimes to government instead of Wow Shop), and they gets to enhance its reputation/public image. And NTV7 and TV9 is already a channel that are familiar with Malaysians, and it is available across digital TV and pay TV platforms now, so it also means easy access to everyone. Looks like win-win to me.Β I read somewhere that RTM will make a channel for MOE, one like TutorTV. And then I read that SiriusTV will provide two channels for that same purpose, I wonder what the CEO really meant, are they going to provide a channel for MOE or they create channel like Astro did. Anyhow, SiriusTV talks much with still no launching date, so just gonna ignore that until they officially launch. This post has been edited by fandom96: Jan 31 2021, 12:24 PM |

QUOTE(NimalKumar @ Jan 31 2021, 01:22 PM) Sad viewer here. Astro technically 'kencing-ed' us with the fake promise to upgrade it before Deepavali. Pooodaaah π If its about black and white or old contents may not suit the HD format, I mean how about P. Ramlee's movie playing on Astro Prima and Astro Ria, or old movies on Astro Citra, those are all HD channels. I don't understand why Vellithirai didn't get the same treatment. Maybe Astro can't decide either to ceased, or to upgrade, or to replace the channel with imported one? I don't know. This post has been edited by fandom96: Jan 31 2021, 05:04 PM NimalKumar liked this post

Since TVS is now available on MYTV, I wonder will the Astro promo ads which always on TVS since the channel has no product commercial ads will appear as well? TVS even still promoting "Astro Channel 122" and not for MYTV. If Astro ads still appear, well it is a good marketing strategy from Astro. π
Anyone has MYTV..can you clarify this? This post has been edited by fandom96: Feb 14 2021, 09:20 AM |

Disney+ introduce Star branding for adult content-segment in the streaming service internationally. But for the U.S. market, it will be Hulu. And then, saw this comment. Maybe what will happen to Latin America going to the same direction as Asian market? Star branding re-replace Fox branding once again? π XypherionID, joshhd, and 1 other liked this post

QUOTE(joshhd @ Feb 23 2021, 06:25 PM) Very likely will rebrand from Fox into Star again. Like I said before, it is just a matter of when. I could be wrong but I think Astro will never get rid of traditional TV channels like what Starhub did, not at least in the near future, simply because there are still huge number of Astro subscribers still have no good access to the internet, unlike Singapore. The subscribers still depends on traditional satelite signals rather than internet. Also, Disney+ promoting campaign is just about to get started Note: All snapshot pictures below are from ContentAsia eNewsletter (22 February-7 March 2021): ![]() Maybe one of the reasons that Starhub pull off all Fox branded channels on its platform, is also because the number of Starhub TV subscribers continues to drop to 314k? As a cost reduction measures? ![]() Very likely that Astro would also introduce "Starhub TV+"-like services as well (because that's the only way to make themselves grow further these days, in my opinion la)... Imagine in the future we would be able to access those streaming apps straight on Ulti/Ultra Box someday. Considering the fact that Astro also offers Astro & Broadband / Astro IPTV services, in the future we might see things like Internet + TV + content streaming subscriptions = Astro All the "essential" stuff (to most people) of having great entertainment experience at home and on the go, in a single Astro bill. Hmm, nice la. Yes, a built-in streaming apps (perhaps for Ultra and Ulti box users) should be consider. Users can have a direct access to HBO Go, Disney+, iQIYI, etc. by simply press "apps" on their remote. StarHub from what I see, they really want to move on from traditional TV service as quick as possible, maybe because the company also managing telecommunication service. Get rid of old TV, offer streaming service package subscriptions along with internet packages sound easier rather than managing a TV channels and contents. |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Mar 9 2021, 05:02 PM) Plot twist: Disney Channels is now part of a la carte package, instead of under Kids pack ππππ This also make sense. A new Disney pack bundle with Disney+ subscription. πAnother plot twist: Subscribe to that package that has Disney channels in it, would include Disney+ subscription when it launches in Malaysia in the future ππππ Ahh, maybe the departure of Disney channels on Astro back then, is just for show. LOL... doubleM2 liked this post

QUOTE(farezekati @ Mar 12 2021, 08:48 PM) Shitty name for shitty channel. Imagine Boo, a whole ala carte channel can't even give audience the best shows and movies, no original contents, all recycle from Astro Citra. Its like watching the Astro Citra slot - Seram Sabtu but its 24-7. I can picture what TA-DAA! be like in the future. Recycle bin. Next thing you'll see, shows on Ta-Daa with multiple logo like CN, Nickelodeon, etc. Should've improve Ceria and TVIQ, and Hello instead. This post has been edited by fandom96: Mar 13 2021, 01:51 PM doubleM2 and jackytan.tt liked this post
