Running Windows 10 pro (ehem copy...) with a 120GB SSD (Check my Sig), no prob.

Full MS office 2013, and some other small programs.

25++ GB remaining.
What you should be worried is that IS the remaining 120++GB enough for games (^-^)

Do note that the lower your freespace is the shorter your ssd Lifetime is a good practice is to leave atleast 10% free space at all time ,you can learn more here

Many many thanks!

Better than the video I saw before on this.

Will try to keep SSD for OS, OS related software and frequent used non OS software. Other files can be kept in HHD.

Surprising infor. Ha.

I am using Win 10 on my desktop (1 TB HHD). I think with Win 10 home basic it was taking up about 160 GB when it was new. Now used space is about 232 GB (did a lot of cleaning the other day).

So, glad to hear you can still run with 120 GB SSD and Win pro!

So going for 256 GB SSD! Ha.

If fresh install Win 10 takes about 10-15GB only.

I think you having such big usage is either after upgrade you didn't clean up old windows file, or still have a lot garbage file from previous windows, or it include all the program files.

256GB SSD currently is sufficient with full microsoft word, VPN and download tool..
around 10 steam game still sufficient..
unless you plan to keep a lot movie/music and picture, than 1TB SSD also not enough..

all my picture are store in Icloud and my movie/music all directly stream from service provider... since we hv fast 50mbps internet now..

my experiences in SSD i changed 3rd time already.
1) in the year 2013 Kingston (SSDnow 128gb) lasted for about 2 years plus. lastly failed by can't detect at all all in suddenly. works well until the end of the day.
2) 2nd is the sandisk 120gb, this is the worst of all only 1 year then now it's not totally break down the reading speed still maintain 550mb/s but the writing speed dropped to 186mb/s. using crystal disk to test read and write.
3) 3rd just bought last week Crucial MX500 250gb 3D nand tech, test the read/write speed , read about 560mb/s write 513mb/s average. will see how long this beast can perform until then.

by the way just formatted to win 10 pro 1803 build, raw install with drivers everything included total consume about 36gb.

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB, it's not downgrade at all.

Things I like are
-no app store
-no One Drive
-start interface are not tiles crap thing
-don't need to sign in Microsoft account
-smaller size
-lower CPU and ram usage (good for long term as wouldn't meet cpu bottleneck as soon as regular version)
-only rolls out major important update
I got mine from pir@teb@y, but downloaded wrong language pack, changed system language later

Gonna install this on my tablet. 32GB internal storage ain't enough for W10 Home.

Noted and thanks.

Just wondering whether you had about 10% unused GB on your SSD. They say this will prolong the SSD life.

36 GB after Win 10 Pro? Maybe I dont really need 256 GB. 128 GB may be enough for me. Ha. But of the price difference is small, better just get the 256 GB SSD.

lol yes i was very free that day i experiment the win 10 installation. i tried fresh install the first win 10 version, after install then auto update to the latest version build, the results is occupied 46gb! and then after that i format again and fresh install, this time i straight away do fresh install latest build. the result is occupied 36gb. means if u fresh install the latest build compare to install the very older version build and then auto update to the latest version, the difference is much. and also very very waste time the auto update from old version to latest version. now i save this latest 1803 build ISO file in a bootable pendrive.

Thanks.

I got the free Win 7 to Win 10 upgrade about 2 yrs ago.

Please PM on how and where you got the Win 10 OS for the upgrade.

Need to format and reinstall Win 10 on that laptop as it is not working well now.

Thanks.

What a bad luck sad.gif
Would you happen to install any 3rd party (soft/hardware) maintenance tools aside ccleaner?

Desktop- My primary samsung 128gb ssd, aged 5years+ and they running strong till date.
Laptop- Using solely samsung 128gb ssd too, aged almost 5 years for heavy programming, heavy editing (hundredth of layers), 10hours/day music streaming..more like a daily drive and it running strong till date too. Trying my best to not reaching reaching my last 20%. flex.gif
