thats is...if u can find it la...i think by now hard to find brand new ones...mine oso had to buy second hand....

mebbe u can ask some of the forumers who are bulking biostar products if they can get u think board. i think jy14 might be able to get u this board...

take note that biostar has 2 s754 mobos that can support pcie. the tforce 6100 and the other one i forgot liao.

thought u guys might like to see this... i got very itchy and decided to install the Colorful 8600GT Ultra Edition and run 3D Mark 05...card is on stock (clock window is unchecked!)

rig specs as in my sig...just replace the 8800GTS with the 8600GT. EVERYTHING is on stock.

user posted image

notice the 3D Mark 05 main window...the card is detected as an 8600GTS.

also look at the background in the red box. the GT only loses out by around a hundred points to the stock MSI 8600GTS OC thumbup.gif

im impressed biggrin.gif

full size pic (1680*1050) is in the spoiler biggrin.gif

Just wanna know does the bundle of the colorful 8600gt ultra comes with any programme to overclock the card?Is it stable if I were to overclock it to 700mhz?Meaning like I let it be while I'm downloading overnight or something?I'm really impressed with the results at stock speed already though just wanna know whether it can tahan if overclock 50mhz more.
@sniper
I thought you looking for a 7300gt mah in your sig,so I thought I could sell of my 7600gt and get shawty's 8600gt ultra.tongue.gif

refer to the card's clocks on both shawty's and mine.... he OCed his 86...mine was running stock... also hes running on Vista...i was running on XP. i think if he were to run on XP the scores will definitely be higher.

i did try OC to around 680/1100 and my marks were near shawtys (more or less cant remember....)

which is whats making me itchy to try and OC the card again wakakkakakak

EDIT: the results has been yummy so far... 06 punya turn pulak biggrin.gif

I'm also using the XFX 8600GT XXX edition card. Already pre-OCed, so why bother overclocking again? Stock cooler runs fine, wonder what's the fuss about? I got it for RM495 without having to wait.
*
the beauty of pre-OCed cards is that they tend to OC higher than non-pre-OC card....

eg.

pre-oc card max OC = 680/2000

non-preoc card max oc = 640/1800

or something like that....just an example...not exact figures...

no idea why its like that though...mebbe pre-OCed cards tend to have higher voltages to core and mem from factory. just a wild guess...

laptop cpu cooler???

personally i wouldnt recommend it...unless ur talking about desktop cpu cooler...

laptop cpu doesnt produce as much heat as desktop cpus. so the heatsink needed in laptops arent as good as desktops.

but if ur card is an 8800 series...i would recommend sticking to the stock cooler.

IMHO the best 8600GT to get right now is definitely the Colorful 8600GT Ultra Edition.

Good Cooler, Full Solid Caps etc etc etc... stock clocks are really good...can even beat GTS if OC just a little bit more.

but...not sure of gaming performance though...i only bought it to use with my HTPC biggrin.gif

@slash

run 05 la... 06 is CPU dependant. 05 is a better judge for the GC as the CPU doesnt affect the scores as much as 06.

then i suggest u just bear with the scolding from ur mom lor...besides, the 05 installer isnt as ridiculously big as the 06 installer.

problem with 06 is its not a really good benchmark to compare...coz of the cpu thing...05 is much better as the CPU doesnt effect the scores as much as 06.

i dont even have 06 in my pc...not even the installer...deleted long time ago wink.gif

Nope, i did that to all my GC even when i'm on AGP, why?
Because it's easier to plug out the HSF while it's hot as the TIM is on liquid form, not in hardened mode.

The core will get damaged easier when you plug out the HSF when the TIM is hardened. smile.gif
*
just to further clarify in case got some people who reads this is a super n00b....

....make sure u do this while the PC is OFF!! dun do it while the card is plugged in then the pc is on and running.

that one will definitely kill the card

not enough ler 450w. ive tried with my CM Real Power 450w ACLX.

cant take load for too long...after awhile the monitor goes kuku and then no picture liao.

even 3D Mark 05 oso only got 8k with my 8800GTS.

after my personal experience i seriously would NOT recommend anything lower than 500w
