I'm considering between 2.0L CR-V, 2.0GL CX-5 and 2.0L X-Trail. Which is a better SUV?

QUOTE(jschong1980 @ Apr 7 2018, 09:41 PM) The X-trail gets my vote because it is a 7-seater and it is the cheapest. It is like an Suv+Mpv 2in1 combo package Between the CR-V and the CX-5, the CX-5 seems superior in almost every aspect. Honda is plagued with quality issues and killer airbags. |

Have you test drive all 3 (or 4)? I have and for me the Xtrail 2.0 seems under powered. The engine sounds quite loud and yet no pickup.

The World first X2, not really expensive actually but it beats all of the above in branding & handling.

Never tried the CX-5.
I'd go with the CRV simply because it has a Turbo engine, LED lights and fairly nice interior (except the gear lever). Speaking from an owner's perspective, I really like the X-Trail (2.0L version). It's not fast off the line, but as far as I can tell it's mostly because Nissan programmed it to be as smooth as possible. Cornering wise it is also pretty stable and fun. It struggles slightly going up hills but otherwise power is adequate. You're not supposed to speed in an SUV anyway given its high CG. Edit: The X-trail's engine is much quieter than the CRV's. I'm not referring to the turbo whistle. This post has been edited by TDUEnthusiast: Apr 8 2018, 02:42 PM |

I have tested all 3 cars but Honda only have the 1.5 turbo for test drive so I can't really compared them. During X-Trial test drive, I did noticed a little slow in response/pickup during acceleration but I thought it it could be due to my driving style. How long have you have you car? Can you share more on your X-Trial experience on (1) handling (2) workmanship (3) comfort (4) maintenance (5) comfort (6) after sales service (7) reliability (8) NVH price is secondary to me. |

The CRV 1.5 T is my vote.
My opinion. The CX-5 loses out on space but its a better drive. The Xtrail is practicle as its huge. The 2.5 is powerfull and now got super discount, really poisonous. The CRV sits in between. Dont forget to just go try these other vehicles. Renault Koleos Hyundai Tuscon Kia Sportage NOTE : The CX 5 has a Diesel in Malaysia. Mileage must be awesome... QUOTE(jschong1980 @ Apr 7 2018, 09:41 PM) X-Trail only 2 airbag = cannot acceptCX-5 very nice, but the top 2 spec model is DIESEL. Also the GPS is not as functional as CRV. CRV, perform its function (as an SUV) very well, support android Auto (i like it), no auto folding side mirror, no active noise cancelling for the cabin (overseas model has it), no handsfree boot door opening system (overseas has), no seat memory function (overseas has). |

QUOTE(jschong1980 @ Apr 9 2018, 10:54 AM) I am only considering 2.0L models between CR-V, CX-5 and X-Trail. What would be your recommendation? I have not heard any major QC issues from the CRV. Takata airbag, well even now Toyota is having a recall. However do take note that the CRV 1.5T is selling better than the 2.0. So which means later on second hand value also will be better for the 1.5T. Does 2.0L CR-V manufactured in 2018 have QC issues? The base 1.5T also has slightly better trim. Looks like you are playing the 140K range. The 1.5 T is 155K. The new Xtrail red ( i think its 144K ) is a very tempting offer. But its red. Hope its not like the Mazda red whereby you cant repaint it back. The Mazda red is so special that you cant get back the same red as factory. |

Got the 2018 2.0 CRV for 140k since January for the specs, SPACE, comfort and reliability.
No major issues so far except the occasionally rattle here and there. FC is not great and avg about 10KM/L for city and highway but adequate power for family use. Front looks good and back looks are subjective... CX5 2.0 GL has poor specs - and no LED lights and no leather seats which is a must for me. Handles better than the CRV and looks good. X trail 2.0 - super dated interior and lousy specs with 2 airbags only! Under powered when i tested it. Unless you take the 2.5 but thats another grade altogether... I personally like the Forester 2.0iP also but wife didn't approve lol Just my 2 cents, hope you find what you like soon |

how about exploring the new Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0?
if not enough power can opt for 2.4 version. 7 airbags, 4wd, rock solid, 7 seater, larger boot space, better handling compared with xtrail. |

if looking for premium suv, mazda cx5 2.5 is good buy.
if looking for value for money family suv, the outlander 2.0 is good buy. if looking for all round including fc n resale value, the crv 1.5t is good buy. if looking for used suv, x-trail is good buy. |

X trail for 7 seater and 360 camera view angle.
Crv for their Honda sensing tech which is fking amazing. Cx 5 only drove once. Too small for my opinion. Rest I forgot |

QUOTE(Dwango @ Apr 13 2018, 07:43 AM) CRV looks like one you're driving to pasar malam to buy groceries and pick up the kids at school whereas CX5 looks like one you will be driving to a 5-star hotel to pick up guests. This i have to agree lol. Outlook wise, my 2 cent goes to cx5 for the premium feel. |

QUOTE(ze2 @ Apr 10 2018, 04:34 PM) Thanks for the feedback and enjoy your new ride. Thanks! The strut bearings were defective right from the start, and not only myself but others are facing the same problem as well..the good news is that no issue after the replacement changeAm surprised that the suspension parts are more prone to damage you mean? Strut bearings are defective or damage? |

QUOTE(jschong1980 @ Apr 10 2018, 05:44 PM) What do you mean by "the X-trail has only 2 air bags for both 2.0 and 2.5 variants, why even consider that"? In other words, do not even consider the X-trail as it has only 2 airbags for both their variants. Compare that to e.g. CR-V or CX-5 which has 6 airbags, which one better? Specs list can be found here - http://www.nissan.com.my/vehicles/x-trail/prices |

I just bought CRV 1.5 TC 2WD. Love it so much! you tint windows all black black and damn good it looks. Performance wise, for me, such a big car and it's easy to handle. the pick-up also good. Boot so large! No regrets buying this car.

Is it bumpy at the back passenger seat when crossing road bumps? |
