it will be great if u can share your tyre size and your car model.
For V12
Fuel Efficiency :C/E
Wet Grip: A
External Rolling Noise: 70 db/ 71 db/ 72 db

For PS4
Fuel Efficiency :C/E
Wet Grip: A
External Rolling Noise: 71 db

have you check on the euro rating? is it the same? I pull out all the rating on the model but different size will have different rating so i am not sure about your size.

It's quite a simple decision actually. Just answer this question: do you have the budget for PS4? If you do then no need to think much, by all means just go ahead with PS4 coz it's well proven on average as the best tire in the market now. If the answer is no, then go with the V12E2 coz that's the best value for money available now in Malaysia (unless later we can find the new Falken FK510). I'm using the V12E2 now on my wife's car and I'm very happy with them, excellent dry performance, good wet performance, and low noise level too which is quite a rare trait for this type of tires (UHP). I'm yet to try PS4 but compared to PS3 which I'm also using now, I can really say the V12E2 is every bit as good if not better on the dry and lower noise! PS3 is probably only better than the V12E2 on aquaplaning resistance. So I don't think you would go wrong with choosing the V12E2 either. FYI, in the latest test by Car & Driver magazine the V12E2 even managed to beat the highly regarded Goodyear F1A3!

In summary your decision lies on how much budget do you have?

Any sifus here know the difference in rolling resistance between these 2 excellent tyres? Read somewhere v12 is highish.

Well to me the V12E2 is not noisy anymore and it's also tested by Car & Driver Magazine for only 66db noise level which is very low already (normally even comfort silent tires are tested around 67-69db). Anyway since you have budget for PS4 then just go ahead try that coz it's widely regarded as the best tire now. Note though that during that test by Car & Driver Magazine, the PS4S was more noisy than the V12E2! biggrin.gif

POOR Aquaplaning for V12

Not based on my experience though. I'd not go as far as saying poor but still decent in that area. I know that you're comparing it to CPC2 which is a mid level tire with lots of water grooves in the tread hence quite understandable that the CPC2 would be better in aquaplaning resistance. In contrast the V12E2 has more bigger tread blocks which makes it good at ultimate dry grip which sacrifices a bit of the aquaplaning criteria. Note that aquaplaning is also just 1 criteria in wet performance, which is only evaluating it's behavior when going thru water puddles. There's also grip on wet surface when no water puddles which IMHO the V12E2 is still pretty good. Given the relatively cheap price of the V12E2 even compared to lower mid level tires like CPC2 and Primacy 3ST, I'd still say it's a very good buy for a UHP tire category.

Yes, that too! So overall its still an excellent buy. I'm just waiting for the Falken FK510 to come to Malaysia and take over as the best value for money from the V12E2, otherwise the V12E2 is still the most recommended cheap and cheerful tire. biggrin.gif

Heard so many good reviews on hankook V12 Evo2. I’m on PS3 and looking for replacement unfortunately my preferred tyre shop does not carry this hankook model and suggested PS4 for my size 205/55R16 at RM380 before gst. I’m interested to give the hankook a try and looking for tyre shop recommendation around cheras/kl area. Before ps3, the stock hankook ventus prime2 is below my expectation...without fail giving me wheelspin out from busy junction especially during wet condition.

Ventus Prime2 is just mid-range tires so cannot compare with UHP category PS3.

Try call these sellers for the V12E2:

that two are from different category. V2c2 is more to budget tyre. While v12 evo 2 is UHP tyres. Saw alot of negative feedback for v2 c2 and also its made in indonesia. If consider v2 c2, i would choose s1 noble2 over it. But still, v12 evo2 will be the best bang for bucks for me.

V12E2 is true UHP (high performance) category tire, while V2C2 is mid-range tire only. On Hankook products, the classification is like this:
Low end tires: Kinergy model
Mid-range: V2C2 and Prime2
Entry level performance: S1 Noble2
UHP: V12 Evo2 & S1 Evo2
Extreme: RS3

Not sure about the FK510 availability, browse through the official, no such product available. But strangely, a recent campaign listed FK510 in their poster :

Anyway, i just dropped an email to them to check whether the availability is real or not.

Ic, we'll just have to wait and see then. Hopefully not too long anymore since this tire was already out for the last 1-2 year already. If this thing comes along and the price is similar to the V12E2 or the previous FK453 then that should make the market very interesting as there'll be more choices for those who want top performance tires at economical prices. I still have another 2+ years to go before I need to change mine so for me I still got time. smile.gif Otherwise I'll just settle back to the V12E2 or maybe by then already got V12E3? biggrin.gif

I too am eagerly awaiting for the FK510, but seems like time is not on my side since i'm in need to change before mid year.

Seeing how FK453 was priced, i realise it is slightly more expensive than v12evo2. So likely that FK510 will be priced at a slight premium (optimistic) to FK453, or will be really close to what PS4 is selling now. It will be at least another year for the supply to stabalise and the price to moderate, so FK510 won't be the econo-performance choice i guess...v12evo2 will still reign in this space.

The only saving grace for the FK510 would probably be fuel economy and refinement. From my findings from a US site when randomly browsing (too bad lost the link), the FK510 is a touch lighter. And from the EU labelling, depending on size, generally most of FK510 has 1dB advantage against v12e2. Another things is that the FK510 has additional rim protection on all sizes, not sure about the v12evo2 on this though. (http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/Falken-AZENIS-FK510-Press-Release.htm)

I guess it would be a good alternative to ps4 for those who just don't want to be associated with brand snobbery or wanting to be a little different than the normal choice for performance. Hope the FK510 can be priced right, anything less than 10% lesser compared to ps4 will relegate it to a really niche choice to those that are falken brand loyalist or those that prefer the tread pattern of FK510 (like me).

*
Hmm back then when I was still looking for my 17' size 225/50/17, the FK453 was way much cheaper than PS3. The FK453 at that time I can get for only around rm350 while PS3 was at least rm525, so I doubt that the FK510 price will be close to PS4. Falken should realize that it's not yet in the same first class brand as Michelin/Pirelli/Goodyear/Continental/Bridgestone. A bit higher pricing than V12E2 is fine since it's made in Japan as long as not overpriced like Toyo T1S or Yokohama Advan Sport. In the UK video that I posted, the FK510 was priced at only around 60% of PS4S or 80% of F1A3, so the pricing trend should be similar here or even better.

Ah yes, for rim protection the V12E2 is practically almost none, at least for size 225/45/17 that I use now! My CSC5, F1D5, F1A2, PS3 all have much thicker rim protection.

If really it is around 80% of F1A3, then the pricing should be quite close to the MC6, not bad actually. Meaning the pricing should be similar to FK453, also indirectly means that FK510 will officially replace FK453 in our market. But by seeing the campaign poster, both are listed alongside, which begs to question what is the standing of FK510 for falken malaysia....

I'd take the FK510 over MC6 coz MC6 is not yet proven. I'd rather take the V12E2 over MC6 too, coz more proven and cheaper some more. Continental Malaysia should've brought in CPC6 instead, or at least brave enough to arrange real comparison test with PS4 to prove their claims.

Well I'd say similar to CSC5 & CSC3 with Continental or PS4 & PS3 with Michelin, both models are still available where the older ones are slightly cheaper but still in the same category.

Anyway just ask Falken again when the time comes for you to change, who knows maybe by then it's available already, then you can buy and provide us your feedback.

It could likely be available by that time, but being new intro into the market and supply not stabalised, the pricing could be a put off. Even with really popular michelin, when the ps4 was launched, the pricing was 20-30% higher compared to now.

So i'm likely to veer my choice to the v12evo2 as i just found a tire shop that sells at reasonable price. Unless, of course falken malaysia choose to launch it at a reasonable price from the very beginning.

On a side note, stay tuned for possible hankook new releases. Hankook will be participating in The Tire Cologne, an international trade fair on tyres and they seem a little secretive, just promising there will be product "world premiere"; hopefully the evo3 series laugh.gif

Well depends, sometimes new releases might give lower price to introduce new product and gain market too. Then once demand picks up, they'd gradually increase it. This was the case with PS3 and RE003 if not mistaken. With PS4 probably different case coz already very well proven predecessor so they were confident with their pricing, also maybe initial product was still made in Europe then subsequently can get cheaper due to made in Thailand.

Hmm they only indicate about all season successor to the Kinergy and they also only will bring their Audi show car using the S1E2 so maybe not yet Evo3 series or else they'd have that same car shod with the newest UHP Evo3 series.

If it is as you mentioned, then there's some hope for my wait smile.gif

I still think hankook may introduce evo3 series, as mentioned in the article, they "promises other world premieres" after mentioning the new all weather tyres. Fingers crossed icon_rolleyes.gif

*Till this day, falken malaysia has not replied my email regarding the availability of FK510. Why the heck then publish the email address when no one is attending to it??!!

Yup, if still not yet available then at least can still get the V12E2, or try find S1E2. Or maybe you want to be a guinea pig to test the MC6? laugh.gif Btw what is your current tires now? Cannot really recall if you have mentioned before...

Maybe Falken staff here also still no idea yet so delaying to give responses, that's usual.

I'm using 215/45/18, but since this is odd size, i'm looking at 225/45/18.

On my area, the best i get for v12evo2 was RM400 (all in), s1evo2 seems like no one knows other than for SUV size (like for the new VW Tiguan).

I last checked for my size FK453 is around RM450, so i presume FK510 will be around RM510 (my unscientific pricing estimate, just follow the series number laugh.gif )

Recent good news is, i just got a reply from falken malaysia rclxm9.gif :
Attached Image

From his reply, indirectly maybe does seemed like certain sizes already available in the market if know where to look for it. That means good news for good performance tyre seekers, looking for something other than ps4/mc6 smile.gif

I still have another 2+ years to go before I need to change mine so for me I still got time. smile.gif Otherwise I'll just settle back to the V12E2 or maybe by then already got V12E3?  biggrin.gif

On my cars now I got F1A2, V12E2, and PS3, currently all around 50-65% treads left. Prior to those, I used F1D5, CSC3, & CSC5. Why?

i can confirm that ps4 is much better on all aspect when compares to v12.

the most noticeable are steering feedback and aquaplanning resistance. damn good yaww

opinion is based on my previous trackday at sepang. with ps4 on the front and v12 on rear..

however this doesnt mean v12 is bad and not worth it.
its still the best bang for buck cheap uhp exist for now. 🤣

Yup, that's why I always say, if got budget then by all means just go for PS4 coz it's arguably the best tire now and you won't go wrong with it. Then if your budget is much more limited then go for the V12E2 as that is the best value for money.

Don't hold your hopes high for the time being and hold on to your guns. If you can wait, you wait. I checked from another shop, it is currently more expensive than ps4 when i checked last week.

Official launch at august, so current supply quite limited and marketing of fk510 is unofficial. Better wait until at least launching to see whether got any good deals. Or else, wait till next year when supply is more consistent and the price stabalises.

That's good news. Rm400+ for that size is pretty cheap already. That price is more inline with what I have expected which is a bit more expensive than the V12E2 but still much cheaper than the premium brands.

M One Tyre JB

Here down south, a lot of tyre shops quite against falken tyres. Even i asked the largest falken dealer in JB, so kanasai way of replying me, the way the person talk to me makes me want to give him a middle finger. M One is the more understanding one that is willing to go the extra mile to help me get the quote i require (albeit very high)

Yes, please help me ask. I'm curious to know, and thank you in advance smile.gif

If rm735, might as well just get PS4 or Continental Extreme Contact Sport, only around rm600/pc, some in Klang Valley can even offer below 600 for PS4 in that size.

I sometimes envy you fellors in the selangor area, earn more than us down south, but things cheaper or at least similar price range  bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif

Shit that "singapore premium" attitude by the business people  ranting.gif Salary and rental lower than, then how can your operating costs be more than those in KL/Selangor??!! Please also don't say logistic costs, because there are 2 damn large international ports in Johor state and some more just a bridge away to one of the world's busiest port country!! vmad.gif

Other things aside from car stuff also more expensive there? Maybe essential things like food and housing are cheaper there, no?

Excellent! That is only like 70-100rm more expensive than V12E2 so just about right price range.

anyone here know does v12 having 205/50/16?  at 1st i would like to change to yokohama v701.. but nationwide out of stock.. told my tyres shop.. so my alternative would be v12 or ps4... anyone know roughly how much does those tyre cost?
*
V12E2 does not have 205/50/16 unfortunately. PS4 should have but much more expensive, maybe around or over rm350/pc. Other alternative you can try is the Goodyear F1D5 which is similar directional tire like V12E2 and V701, and should be much cheaper than PS4 but not sure how much.

F1D5 is a pretty good UHP tire. I used that before and quite happy with it. IMHO it performs very close to PS3, a bit less aquaplaning resistance than PS3 but almost similar overall wet grip and dry grip, so still a pretty well balanced tire. I used until >50k km before I changed them. The small negative about this tire is it can be chipping out a bit much if driven hard, but PS3 is also like that and no big deal coz the tire still holds up well.

Very hardly go that area, last time went around there was more than 5 years ago.

Who did you contact for the price? Maybe i try asking whether they have some form of outstation delivery support.

On the other hand, anyone coming down south, i offer tambang RM100 to transport black donut biggrin.gif

Housing, depends on location, but despite the glut, the prices aren't coming down. 70% of properties sold there are above 500k. Normal hawker here start asking price average RM6 per meal without drinks; supermarket food court close to RM10. I don't know about those in your area, but i guess won't be that much more.

Computer/IT/electrical stuffs, your area definitely cheaper; sometimes singapore cheaper even after considering the transport hassle. Car service price, similar price level and sometimes a little bit more expensive as the consumables are more expensive to procure. Clothing/apparels, pricing a little subjective and not so direct, but from what some of the ladies saying, the trend in the south is slower. Water cost, hands down Johor win, the most expensive in Malaysia (but not a bad idea to discourage wasting).

But salary wise, Selangor area about 20% more on average vmad.gif The only thing those in the south can be grateful is the traffic jam not as insane, but we do experience a fare share of it on trip to and fro singapore.

My pricing estimate was kind of there and some more same price as v12evo2 here, but FK510 not available here cry.gif

Then I suppose your best bet for now is still the V12E2, or you just wait a few more months and check again if the FK510 already available there and with more normal price range.

No choice lar.....can't really wait. The factory tyres left about 10% thread left and some are already at the thread life markings. Further, the front outer sides are chipping/flaking off badly because the thread fully ran down.

I'm also from Penang and yes, the tyres price here is always way more expensive than others.

Bro chrischiang, maybe you can go to mainland like BM or Kulim. The tyres there might be cheaper.

FYI, I was quoted by Akina Tyre for Hankook V12Evo2 at May18, included GST.

195/55/R15 = RM210
215/45/R17 = RM340
225/45/R17 = RM360
