Agreed Panasonic and KDK is still the best.

All the new brands like Deka got problems after a year. My Deka fans all giving weird cracking sound after a year. I had to change all to Panasonic after a year. Now after 5 years, my Panasonic no problem at all. I got one standing Panasonic fan more than 10 years but still work excellently.

Dont buy Morgan. Jilaka last time bought from Houz Depo a Morgan wall fan. The cover (the round metal part) cannot even fit and close after hours of trying and much sweat and pain. In the end, i took it back to Houz Depot, the guy there told me Morgan is like this, and even he himself very hard to fix it. Wahlau, like that no need to open and wash onced its fixed?

I throw it back to them and get my money back.

Only buy KDK or Panasonic. Cant go wrong.

Not too long ago bought KDK ceiling fan, even has free service come to house to do the balancing of the fan wings.

If not mistaken, KDK is under Panasonic, and they are manufacture under same factory.

My parents house using Deka just change its motor last Nov for warranty, last month CNY motor burnt during midnight. Replacement of motor also cannot stand more than half year.

Warranty is over and they decided to switch to KDK.

My house KDK all still work, most at least 20 years old.

I find the wall regulator type more reliable. Remote control type always see people complaint, sekejap je rosak.

Panasonic owns KDK, though many seem to have more problem with panasonic remote control fans.

All my fans used DEKA, and yes, mostly slowed down right after the 1 year mark.

But try DIY to change the capacitors, it works back like a charm.

Their problem wasn't the motor, but the capacitors.

KDK but after being sold to Panasonic.

The quality is getting worst.

Their new fans with hexagon shape, when switch on, it started spinning very slow unlike old school ones.
And started having weird noise after less than a year.

Yea, I hear even KDK nowadays don't last, what a contrast to old ones at my home, over 20 years still can work. If they also cut cost, dunno who to trust edi sad.gif

Why something simple like ceiling fan also wanna kedekut material, want us to keep changing so they more profit vmad.gif Hopefully the ones at my home can keep working for longer time.

KDK and Panasonic fan also using PCB to control it, which after a few years need replacement. Or else fan will spin like snail speed.

The bearing is also questionable...

But still, with all the quality problems, it is still much better than most.

Kdk 14y2. Works well. About 3 years now. The one I installed for my parents has a remote control problem, most probably because they pressed too hard on the on off button when the battery was running out.

After so many observation, i will avoid plastic blades. It seems like those fans produce less wind volume the faster they get. Probably the flexing problem compared to metal blades. Cannot deny plastic blades are lighter.

Personally for me I use 2 rubine, 2 alpha and panasonic bayu..Panasonic is the worst, fan motor noisy and slower after 2 years of use..alpha is the best for me..fast and no need balancing..rubine is OK la..needs balancing work to be done..n one more..Panasonic if you want to replace capacitor after some.time have to get whole board changed..unlike other like alpha n rubine..capacitor esily replaced manually..if you r self repairing type like me..better get those..

Why not go for haiku. Those can last.

Look for big ass fans. It's the manufacturer for those large fans in malls.

They have small ones also.

If not alpha is good also.

i can only tolerate the non remote fan or 8/9 speed DC motor.

Dunno about alpha design, but this is good for our nation, at least we got innovators.

I was told the strength of wind does not depend on the no. of blades. More blades means the wind will spread to a wider area. So for living room buy fans with more blades. If your bed is right under the fan, buy 3 blades.

So it's like the buttons were reversed? I had some of my fans working like that after having it repaired thru third party. It's like they have messed up connecting the cords from the switch to the circuit board or something

nope.
1st speed - fast
2nd speed - faster than fast
3rd speed - faster than 2nd speed
4th speed - faster than 3rd speed.

my point is, those local brand are tuned that way, maybe too many people complaining malaysia too hot.

And always remember to follow the recommended spacing between wall, ceiling, and floor.

https://www.kdk.com.my/tips-guide/ceiling-f...election-guide/

If mounted too near to either it will block airflow, and be noisy.

Hi , i bought a fanco venice fan in Dec'17. In Jan 2019, i noticed the color fading on the blades .
Called them , no warranty .
In May'19 , my lights on the fan gave way . Called again , they said warranty only a year .
Technician charges will be RM55, light will be 150.
Thinking of changing the fan. mad.gif
Too tired to deal with them. Other rooms installed Rubine . Till today not a single issue.

If you are in KL, jalan pasar got alot, I bought at Kajang town, quite cheap, RM10 can get 2-3 pcs

to change is quite easy, there are two capacitors, but I changed only the wired capacitor

KDK or Panasonic are the best brand so far. The remote still working after 3 years.

Other brand dont buy cos, for me the motor may not spoil so fast but the remote control will. So without remote you cannot control the fan anymore. My old fan, less than one year the remote spoil already.

Just bought Pana Bayu 5 for my living room, reason only to replace my 17 y.o. National ‘Bayu’ 4 that has recently faulty remote control, however the fan still working fine.

Apart of this National ‘Bayu’, all ceiling fans in my house are KDK, some are 17 y.o. & some are newer. All of them still working flawlessly fine.

You’ll never go wrong with Pana or KDK brand, if you target is the long term run

Three of my this fan have this issue.

Just take out the chip board and replace all the capasitors. If know how to DIY will be cheaper.
I took it to a shop, replaced 3 capasitors for each fan... One fan repair costs about rm60.

Now it is as good as new. No buzzing sound
The fan spins like new also. Before this I thought the motor weaken. It's just one of the capasitor is not powering the motor fully.

Just remove the PCB chip board. Easy to remove.

Bring it to any electrical shop. Just say this is Panasonic fan. They will know what to do. It's a common problem.

No need to remove the blades
No need to unhook the fan.

Just remove the centre plastic cover. The inner cap you may need to remove the 4 screws. Not sure yours is which model

Once you remove the plastic cover.... You can just remove the PCB board. The PCB should be clip on. Before this You need to remove the two clipped cables first.

Same as mine

Use a bit of force to twist open the outter cap.
Did you twist the right direction?
After remove this outter cover.... The center cover will have 3 screws.

I just switch off the fan when removing the PCB.
If you want to be sure, just off the main power. Better to be safe than sorry.

No problem

Better to just replace 3.

Some people because want to save a bit of money, they will replace the faulty cap.

I have 6 Deka 5blade, 1 Deka with light, 3 Panasonic Bayu and 1 National Yuragi.
After 10 years, all have problem of slow speed except for the Yuragi and the Deka with light.

During the MCO, I ordered online the capacitors and replace them, now all running fine like new. I am a DIY guy so I just solder and replace the capacitors.
You can find many videos on Youtube on how to repair these fans.

Good luck.

Initially i thought of kdk too but I bought the mitsubishi coz it looks modern

my other 2 panasonic bayu fans are making noise after 3 years, 1 is getting slower and slower even at highest speed
*
yes, agree I feel Mitsubishi looks better in term of design. Are you having the same model? If yes, how long are you using it and how is the wind on the highest speed?

yeah, i bought this during mco, like the modern design with blue led indicators

dont know reliable or not, but still bought it coz heard good comment of mitsubishi electric air con
*
yes, one of the reason I consider this model cause of the design. and brand mitsubishi.
if want to find similiar is KDK kaze ..

will try to grab one and test it.

just install the mitsubishi fan today.

at speed 1 .. really cant feel the wind, but start from speed 2, u can feel it .. speed 5 no bad

In general, is ok la , with the design, if want those strong winds, goes back to those 60inch 3 blade fan.

Hi All,

Need suggestion on these two ceiling fans below. Kind of confused which one to buy.

KDK

https://www.kdk.com.my/product/k14yz-pbr-140cm-56/
Mitsubishi

https://shopee.com.my/Mitsubishi-C56-RW5-P-...0029.2212279442

Which one do you guys think durable?

Thanks.

Mitsu is only rm400. Just give it a try.
Looks nice

I'm using this Pana DC fan for the past 3 years.
Switched on 24x7 since i started using it, never switch off ... Running all the time for the past 3 years.

No issues until today.
Still silent

My house KDK all still work, most at least 20 years old.

I find the wall regulator type more reliable. Remote control type always see people complaint, sekejap je rosak.

Panasonic owns KDK, though many seem to have more problem with panasonic remote control fans.

Ikr, they just refuse to die.

I've been tempted before by fancy remote control fans, the blades more aerodynamic, promise quiet, comfortable breeze, dc motor very energy saving etc.

But seeing all sorts of problems so many face, seems if you just tak nak pening, tak payah fikir, stick with basic regulator fan.

Panasonic and KDK are same company and the remote control fans, the PCBs will hum eventually and even if you replace the faulty capacitor, it will only stay quiet for a while then the hum will be back.
My living room KDK is squealing and such so I'm going to replace with a basic regulator controlled fan.
Though honestly I'm tempted to try the Panasonic DC motor fans but will look at the price first.

Any good shop to recommend to get KDK fan? Better if it comes with installation. Most shops just sell fans but don't provide such service.

already there. I managed to balance it by adding some tiny magnets on the edge of the blades to reduce the wobble, one fan almost no wobble after that, but don't feel that it is so proper. Feel it's better if they can replace the blades.

Without the blades, the rod has no wobble at all.

I dont understand why. My ceiling fan, 3 of them i install semua okay.
Did you check whether all nuts are tight and the blades not in reverse position? Modern ceiling fan mostly easy install.

But since you try balancing the blades and it become stable, probably the blades got defect.

Maybe the blades are not so perfect, truth is when I bought these khind fans online, they ship it with the blade jutting out.. really weird. They look fine physically but no idea if there is hard to perceive defects. All 3 fans from different sellers but similarly wobbly just 1 is better than others.

I bought KDK and Panasonic online before and they came in one box, and are fine after install.

Anyway further updates, called Khind to come and check, first time check the guy wasn't that good, gives lots of excuses and very unwilling to change stuffs. Even say Khind is like that hah..

Second time complain, the next team came and does things better.

Overall the wobble issue is resolved, the problem lies with the motor. They changed the motor unit and it's balanced now. Changing the fan blades didn't solve anything actually.

I prefer Panasonic Bayu (5 blades) and Elmark 520 (5 blades) 56", easy to install myself.

Depending on the 'lemon'-ness of the unit, I have had Panasonic Bayu (5 blades) now in use for 15yrs,
survived de-installation & moving from previous house to a new house..
but there are also 1-2 units which start to make bad 'grinding' sounds after ~5yrs.

Didn't have time to troubleshoot that one problem yet.

My preference for Panasonic is also because of the remote - you can practically use 1 remote for all the same fans,
and there's no issue of missing remote/faulty remotes since you have so many spares.

I've been using the 2x of Elmark 520 for ~5yrs (?), one of them now seems to be slower (with same speed across the 2).
Probably need to change the capacitor. Never tried changing one before.

I have 1 unit of Rubine Vasto (3 blades) 56" installed already now for 1 year - because I was looking for a fan
with LED lighting but the Panasonic one costs close to 2x more than this model.

Pros :
- Small motor size & nice design.
- You can feel the wind pressure.
- Light ABS blades.
- LED light with 3-step dimmer.

Cons :
- Bought it from shop. Shop technician installed it but wobbly.
- Had to wait for Rubine technician to come over (after 4-5 days installing) to fix the wobble.
- Dislike the Warm White LED after long usage (wife gets headache with Warm White lighting).

I thought all fans come with small weight that you can stick on top of any blade to balance the fan. You need to experiment where to locate the weight.

I'm presuming it was not mechanical sound but humming sound like electromagnetic or or transformer in power supply.

This normally due to degraded capacitor which functions as to rotate the fan blade. If the capacitor becomes totally bad, the fan won't turn. This capacitor can be bought probably around RM6 in electronics spare part shops. Sending for this kind of capacitor replacement will cost around RM60~70 I think.

Over the years it will become bad. That is why old fans usually make this sound laugh.gif

No, I don't think KDK or Panasonic have these kind of stuffs too (mine is all 3-bladed) Anyway according to Khind they only do balancing for the ABS blades fan or those fans more than 3 blades on.

Yes, a bit is normal unless it bothers you and you want it to balanced.

I remember most of my fan come with black square about 4mm thickness weight. You suppose to stick it on one of those fan blades to remove wobble. You need to experiment to find on which blade and at best location. I never used one anyway. The wobble just very slight only.

My latest fiber type blade of Panasonic fan has none, stating that the fan is precisely engineered to be balanced when installed the blade properly. So, no weight required and it was well balanced as stated after I installed.

I see. Never had 3 blades one before. My Panasonic with 5 blades (it was said fiber) has no weight either since it is said to manufactured it precisely. So, weight is not required.

It is a new brand. Products only started coming onto the market last June.

Not much is known about them.

I looked at it but turns out their fans are kind of expensive for the specification and design not that nice.

In the end I bought an Alpha Vannus Pico and a Rubine Ampio as I needed 2 smaller sized fans.

All fans are the same these days as nothing is made to last any longer.

Any ceiling fan recommendation with wide angle wind coverage?

I’m using kdk sensa 5 60” fan now but only people sitting directly below the fan can feel the wind.

My ceiling height is 11ft and living room size is 15ft width and 11ft length.
The new fan must be compatible with fan hook only. No luck to go for bigger 70” or 80” fan.

Panasonic not good, but if u know how to repair then ok... After few years humming noise start to happen, not because the motor is going to kaput, is the capacitor issue, replace it and it should be fixed, there is 3 of it need to replace.

Kdk n Panasonic. But not the remote control ones. The old school ones. My Panasonic batu remote control ones with sleep timer all. Very fast kaput. But the old school ones still running fast like new after do many years. The bqyu remote I think 3y already gone case.

*
so far my own finding is fan with 2 or 3 blade (less blade) have wider wind coverage, curve on blade also play some role. Higher fan speed also have effect as the wind push further the coverage is narrow.

I have 3 Sharp fans, more than two years and all are working fine.

Last year, one made noise but it had a 3 year warranty. The repairman found little pieces of stone in it. So he said complete all renovations before installing the fans. Good tip, I think.

I am using Alpha Vannus Pico 36" and Alpha Vannus Luna 56" both with LED and DC motor.

I look at it this way, a KDK 48" DC motor fan with LED cost RM749 from CIMA Lighting, cheapest I surveyed. An Alpha Vannus Pico cost RM280 from House Lighting at Puchong.

Good fans, quiet operation, fairly powerful and good wind spread relative to its size.

DC motor gives it a quieter operation. However not sure about whether it saves any electricity as it is not something we use that often. Definitely the cheapest DC motor fans in the market.

The downside? Remote once drop then it does not work. Thankfully a new one is not expensive to buy.

Other than that I would highly recommend it as does my Aussie tenant who uses it far more than me as she mostly opens the window and uses the reverse function rather than switch on the air conditioner.

Wow... Sharp is rare. Which model did you bought and how much? Sharp ceiling was selling pretty cheap a few years back before a sharp increase.

I bought a PJW176 for RM299 couple years ago. Even my SIL who worked in Sharp also cant get this price when she saw I had this fan box in my living room. I just installed it earlier this year and it was surprisingly pretty good. I used to installed a yuragi 4 blade and bayu 5 in my room but I dont know whether it is the unstable current in my room wiring, both also very fast spoilt and even after changing all the capacitors on the board, it still hum. The Sharp runs very quietly except that cover is slightly bend and rub against one part. I did not know how to dismantle it to quick fix but it is not as annoying as panasonic fan ommm ommm ommm...

Update on my panasonic DC motor fan.

It's still working fine until today.
Switched on 24x7.
The only time I off it is when I clean the fan. Otherwise it is running all the time. I have a dog in my house. That's why.

Happy with this purchase.

I have only seen fans with remote control in the last 10 years. Is there a reason for the control to affect the power?
It's like switching it at the wall or asking somebody to switch it, I think.

I like remote because there are fewer holes in the house wall.

When i moved in to new house more than 10 years ago, i equipped all upstairs with panasonic fan, the entry level kind, 3 metal blade, around 4 of them.

I equipped downstairs with 2 alpha fan, 3blade forgot model, translucent black plastic blades. (One with remote, one without)

I like alpha, super silent, even with speed 4 or 5.
Wind dispersion is quite wide.

Where else, the panasonic ones are...waste of money.
At speed 2, the wind really biasa, angle dispersion lousy, have to be directly under the fan. Using higher speed not much difference it is just louder..u wont sleep well with that db level.

Whether alpha last or not, its 50 50, the remote fan dead.
The non remote one lasted me around 11years, recently the speed unable to adjust beyond speed1. Wanted to repair but service center not open due to mco.

Bought and installed alpha vannus 3blade 56inch remote, allblack.
Cheap, lesser than rm300. Performance good, quiet as usual and wind is not bad.. maybe lose alittle to my previous old alpha, perhaps due to the design of the blades.

Wanted to test buy those fancy hidden fans with led lights on marketplace, around 200rm, looks modern and awesome, see if worth it or not, can test on 2ndfloor living area.

Biggest problem of cheap fans are the low speed is not low enough or low until no wind

I think it has nothing to do with expensive or cheap. It is just what the manufacturer think how fast the rotation should be at each speed setting. This depends on what capacitor value they decide to fit in.

Few sellers I met also said KDK quality not as good as before, as they also need to sell more to sustain their business. May be other fan brands offer them better incentive hence they want to push other brands before KDK and Panasonic. Jus my speculation

I was tempted to get Usha but the fan doesn’t have a safety cable and earth wiring which really baffles me.
Usha fans spin like a fan on steriods, it’s so fast that it unleashes the paranoid in me worried that something might break off while I’m asleep.

With AC fan you can change the PCB but if it's a DC ceiling fan, how do you change it to make it back to normal?

Don't buy fanco wall fan.
Fanco's after sales service is superb, the best warranty service i ever recieve. However, no mater how the fan fixed, it still had sounds. All my room is using fanco wall fan due to low ceiling height. All of thr fan also has noise when swing.
Those who are sensitive with noise, please stay clear from fanco wall fan.
