That depends on what you have right now
If it's a Wireless N router, yes
If it's a Wireless AC router, no

Nevertheless, no matter what you get from TM, it's always going to be crap
You want something good, you're gonna have to fork your own money

Be patience. The first phase of the free upgrade is until 31 December 2018
And the 2nd phase is until June 2019
I really don't get why people need to make so much noise about this

I myself didn't get any email about free upgrade in 2016 but nevertheless I still get the free upgrade from 30 to 50
And again I didn't get any SMS/email about the RM10 upgrade from 50 to 100 but nevertheless I still got it

Did you test on wireless?

It's not about what WiFi card you're using, it's about how bad is your wireless interference
Try again with ethernet cable. If you can get 50Mb/s on ethernet cable then the issue is with your wireless signal, not TM
