An upgrade from 970 to 1080 Ti should be quite the leap right  biggrin.gif

My display upto 1080p only, maybe upgrade later. DSR upto 4k.

Thinking of getting used 1080 Ti as many are selling used.

I see a few quite low, but must check if mining card or not.

970 to 1080Ti is like DVD to Blu-ray.

Becareful of deals that are "too good to be true"

Will tell him about the rma warranty.
From lelong , seller also sold here but I wonder did the seller make a price mistake again in lelong ? There is no way the price is that cheap even on promotion.
*
They said it was an anniversary promo. Also taking advantage of no SST / GST period, I guess. Limited numbers, though. Oh well, if it was a mistake then we make full use of it la. But usually zotac mini versions are cheaper anyway... With many Ti around rm1900-2000, then the mini at 1700 would be just a slight discount, but they would still make enough, in addition to pushing up shop ratings.

It's still risky to get 1000 series 2nd.
*
Agreed, but sometimes the risk is worth taking, provided you are comfortable with it. If GTX 1080Ti used for mining only 6 months by someone you know and you know the card condition still good and offer price of below RM2k, for example...

Just wanted to ask , if next year treade war happen , will gpu price decrease or increase ?
Read there are some mix results, some will decrease because they will better sell out more on asia country than shipping to us where taxes is highest among all.

How about gpu ?

Trade war between China and USA?

Some say due to such tariffs on China import, China will simply export to SEA countries then forward it to USA as if coming from Malaysia, etc. But who knows...

I recently got a 1080 Ti FTW3 for ~ RM2400 from Garage Sale. It was a video editing card not mining, with the complete box and all...

Going from 970 -> 1080 Ti was quite the leap.

But on a 1080p display  biggrin.gif  with DSR 4K, wow... the image fidelity.

i7-3770 + 1080 Ti = bottlenecked at 1080p/1440p but almost completely diminished at 4K.

Still scouting for decent 4K display, no need fancy G-Sync / High refresh rate. I game occasionally  tongue.gif

I will wait for 30-series IF... RTX/DLSS is a big thing in 2019 / adopted well.

Not sure. Try find online. TVs are good for console, but probably not for first person shooter

Well if you plan to use TV as display monitor for your desktop, have to be low input lag, baru alright. I can't find anything on that model. But there is a list of good one's https://www.rtings.com/tv/tests/inputs/input-lag

If not low input, really bad for gaming on PC. I've an old HDTV that I tried, terrible  laugh.gif
*
Some other websites reviewed similar model at around 15-25ms, but without direct measurement, take it with a grain of salt.

But using as desktop and watching movies, input lag below 50ms is probably bearable IMHO. My eyes not that great la.

Heck, I used to have a 32 inch LED TV as monitor for racing... Didn't mind it too much. Just that you literally have to move your head when read something across the monitor.

Despite dreaming of the latest and the greatest, remember that many more gamers are hoping for improvements at the RM 500-800, mainstream budget. Only when you come to lowyat then you feel like RM 1100-1900 is the normal price range for GPUs... basically the "enthusiast" budget level.

When will we see the next budget king like GTX550 Ti and GTX1050 Ti?

1050ti isn’t the real budget king

the real one is gtx1060 6GB after launch. My friend bought brand new for less than 1k short time after launch that’s a steal
*
The one less than 1k was the 3GB version, as I recall. I got my 1050Ti at around RM 650 also. Less than RM800 and can handle 1080p beautifully... I think that is the sweet spot there. Many reviewers call it "best bang for your buck".

it was really 6GB

my friend bragged about it to me lol

Probably... Prices here in East Malaysia would be higher. Anyway, that promo window was VERY small and soon the crypto fever took over... but GTX1050 and 1050Ti were largely unaffected. Prices for 1050Ti hovered around RM 750-850, while the GTX1060 6GB went up over RM1500

How do you possible to buy at below 1k for 6GB ? 3GB ?

Now 1050 ti cost even higher than you bought , RM 700-RM800 range. Cheapest are those galax card still need RM 680
*
I know, right? When they were first launched, Zotac had promo for gt1030 till gtx1060. Then the fire nation atta... I mean, crypto currency came along.

For HTPC, you dont really need gpu for some setup, eg AMD 2400G, unless you need to push 60+ fps movies on 4k or something like that.

So... My old plasma TV is out of parts, so with the warranty I topped up and get the Panasonic TH-49FX600k. 4k IPS LED, some HDR.

Any suggestions how to check input lag? I don't even know what refresh rate is this monitor running at. (Already asking Panasonic FB rep, await response).

Will use my gaming rig (8600k with 1070Ti) to try it out.
