i can't wait the delivery period to sabah... and scared if the parcel not treated well
but i originally was waiting for seasonic vertex
but bad luck i guess
*
Seasonic's Vertex will be in Asia markets on Jan 2023, but that's only the gold models...
I've heard from around that platinum rated ones will hit the market only on "Q2 2023".
FSP ones already on the market including their platinum rated models which are already available in Taiwan, but somehow they're not in MY. MY only has the gold models.

Just got mine ASUS RTX 3080 TUF Gaming 10GB @ RM3099.... Hope can last for 3 years.... upgrading from RTX 2070

Found something weird.... when idle, the GPU clock remain as 1.7Ghz. I thought it supposed auto lower the gpu clock during idle.

What setting I had missed out? My previous 2070 will auto lower the gpu clock when idle.

check your power management mode in nvidia control panel, if it's not "normal" change it to that
if you're running g-sync/g-sync compatible monitor, select "enable for full screen mode" instead of "enable for windowed and full screen mode". usually g-sync being enabled in windowed mode cause problems to me as well.
then perform a clean boot (shift + shutdown, then turn off power for 15 seconds)

4070 ti , with capable of new tech and rival to 3080 up to 3090 ti

do we admit it good?

3080 / Rm3300
3080 Ti / Rm4800

with current dealer, retails.. side of pricing, look like yes for me.
*
unfortunately the performance/dollar stagnates when compared with 3070 Ti. when speaking of a new generation which offers better performance, by right the performance/dollar should be observably higher than previous gen. but when the new gen is almost the same as previous gen...here's the stagnation problem. it's a repeat of Turing, minus the introduction of RTX during that time.

spending $799 for 10-20% more performance than 3080, which sold at $699... sweat.gif
this season's GPU lineup is completely junk.

last time I used to own 1060 strix lol. OCed it like mad, iirc hitting more than 2000MHz, about 200MHz offset from the OC clock shipped by that strix card. still didn't even come close to shit tier 1070 SKUs.

When u guys talking about gpu tier, is it tier in term of reliability or overclock ability?
Is it card like zotac, palit etc will have short life span than asus?
*
in terms of overall build quality, including heat dissipation, VRM quality etc.

basically low end, mid end, high end SKUs.
low end SKUs e.g. MSI Ventus, Gigabyte Windforce
high end SKUs e.g. Asus Strix, MSI Suprim

even though I may say the low end SKUs "shit-tier", it still performs well enough for the chip to do its job, at least enough to not have buyers much to worry about unless you're doing overvolt and stuffs. say if you buy a MSI 4090 Ventus (priced at RM 8k), maybe it runs a little bit hotter, has poorer VRM arrangements and maybe it has zero power limit headroom as it locks at 450W. but it runs exactly like a 4090 simply because it is what it is. no matter how much you may OC your 4080 Strix (priced at almost 8k), you will never reach the poorest 4090 level, and it'll still be leaving a huge gap in between.

but people said oc 3080ti can match 3090 performance... no?
*
3090 special case. sold at $1499 MSRP, yet offers 10-15% more performance than 3080 which launched at $699 MSRP. when 3080 Ti launched, the FE trails behind 3090 for a mere 1-3% (ain't joking).

Yet it still burned. At this point, i might as well get the RX 7900 XTX.

cablemod also replied to the thread.

they sold 40k+ adapters, only 5 incl the one shown in the thread. 4 of them, before this one, were due to user error (adapter not fully plugged in), as worded by cablemod themselves. there is a chance it's still due to user error in this case no matter how well documented it is, but wont deny there is also a chance it could be cablemod's adapter defect, simply because the user had already built his PC with 4090 way before retrieving cablemod's adapter, and it seemed to be without issue until the installation of the adapter.

don't forget the game is AMD-sponsored title...doesn't have DLSS, mediocre ray tracing so that it doesn't wreck havoc on their Radeon GPUs, and poor optimisation on NVIDIA cards. all of these are very noticeable on every AMD-sponsored titles.

$69.99 base price for an unoptimised game and getting gaslighted by EA

RE4 gooding though, superb performance. one of the very few with strong and optimised engine atm.

now I wait for starfield. its engine, creation engine, has been unoptimised since a decade ago.

another alternative is super flower leadex vii xg which I'm having atm
similar design as corsair, 2x8-pin to 1x12vhpwr
slightly cheaper than corsair

But if i can recall Superflower only provided 5 years warranty for their PSUs, other major brands mostly are 10years

this is true for Malaysia, only 5 years warranty. unsure why they do that
in NA, super flower gives 10 years. no basic human rights for malaysia
but they're still one of the best though, sometimes OEM for EVGA (RIP EVGA), sometimes OEM for Corsair

Bit late here but for some series like Leadex VII XG, it is 10 years, confirmed by Sun Cycle. If you check on their website it is also listed as 10 years. For older Leadex III is 5 years.

eh thanks for confirming, means my PSU is valid for 10 years then biggrin.gif

Anyone experience in the middle of intense gaming, PC monitor suddenly goes blank and displays "No signal detected"? Need to turn off socket and restart then only the computer will boot. I'm wondering if this is a symptom of not enough PSU juice? Running on 3080 EVGA FTW3 Ultra.

does it shut off ur PC? I had a friend who owns an EVGA 3080ti which shut down his PC when he was trying to play game with us.
the culprit was the PSU and changing PSU worked for his case

did u have this issue last time or this happened only quite recently? there's a chance where the transient spike (short power draw burst) from 3080 is messing with the PSU and the PSU can't handle such spike anymore. nvidia ampere was notorious on transient spike

Yes it shuts off my PC totally. But the computer fan was running along with it's LED. I noticed this symptom when reviewing YouTube videos on PSU unability to cope with power demand.
This issue started after upgrading to 3080.

Edit: Which PSU your friend using now?

Haven't done any research yet. Was trying to figure out and problem and saw the posting here.Any recommendation to consider first? I will work it out from there.

Never thought it was the PSU as it was solid and the power draw from my monitoring was just around 600W max on my system using a power meter at the socket.
*
avg power draw no problem, but ampere was notorious on having a sudden spike of power draw burst up to twice the avg power draw. some PSUs can tahan a few ms but if the ms is longer for the said burst (very often so), then the protection kicks in.
better to get 1000W+ for ur next PSU. those rated ATX 3.0 is better because they can handle even longer and higher power spikes.
