i also suspect.. the reason theres a lot of gaps.. amd has a gpu that can challenge the 3080
*
Same here, also somewhat explains why there is a RTX3070Ti/3080Ti hmm.gif

It looks like nVidia is anticipating Big Navi in someway or another hmm.gif

Samsung yield issues? sweat.gif

Looks like scalpers will have a field day if it turns out to be true sweat.gif

It made sense if Nvidia priced their 3070 @ 499 to compete with the consoles. However, they could have priced 3080 at a higher price point if they think AMD has nothing to counter.
*
I think they are reserving it for the Ti variants hmm.gif

Me on the other hand thinking Nvidia may also lower down the pricing because they want to make gaming affordable in these difficult times where ppl are saving up money due to covid9.

Its a win-win situation here.
*
Also partly explains the Samsung node, it's much cheaper than TSMC icon_idea.gif

Don't dare to value it now because I think my card has depreciated like a rock after Ampere's announcement sweat.gif

2080 Ti for the price of a 5700 XT (with a slight premium) is a steal though brows.gif

I don't know, but this could be bad for the FOSS/Linux community due to nVidia's track record on supporting their hardware on Linux sweat.gif

May end up accelerating RISC-V if things go south sweat.gif

I guess it's still better than Intel/Apple buying ARM though tongue.gif

Surprisingly the FE temp is lower than its predecessors
Maintaining at around 75-ish degrees

But since the upwards pointing fan design, both CPU and Ram temp increases slightly
*
That's still normal though... the RTX3080 is indeed a very fast card, as long as you can handle the higher power consumption laugh.gif

The downside is that the card's performance per watt seems to be rather disappointing sweat.gif

Rather interestingly enough that even this card still doesn't saturate PCIe 3.0 x16 hmm.gif

with such performance for 4k gaming, finally we are really transitioning from 1080p to 4k gaming. i believe this time we will see more 4k gaming monitors rolling out and the price for 4k gaming monitor soon will become affordable. Pretty well done nvidia. But we are not done yet, now lets see what AMD can bring on the table biggrin.gif
*
I hope that 32 inch 4K monitors with HDMI 2.1 and decent HDR support will arrive soon.... fingers crossed hmm.gif

yeap still normal, kinda surprised to see how this 3xx watt consumption GPU produces less heat compared to the previous gen cards.
even then, it's a very good trade off as of now. Lower price (hopefully) at a higher performance.
*
Yeah, certainly a pleasant surprise out there tongue.gif

Amd always no.2. Whatever they offer, nvidia gonna counter back with super/ti variants.
*
...and that's always good for the consumer - they will always fight back with better products or lower prices tongue.gif

I kinda miss the times where GPU price wars between the two camps were common tongue.gif

Which is why I never recommend TN panels.

3080 will be CPU bottlenecked at 1440p for a lot of games. It's nice to see 100+ FPS on some of the games that is previously having low FPS though.
*
Even a low end VA panel is better than TN... laugh.gif

Asus having the cheapest card is weird though (especially their cards tend to be incredibly overpriced here) laugh.gif

Perks of being early adopters

This is why buying hardware at launch is a bad idea (same goes to other brands as well) tongue.gif

The early adopters often gets the short end of the stick laugh.gif

A little heads up - depending on the motherboard and if you have an additional expansion card, the main PCIe slot may fall back to x8 3.0 (or x8 4.0) bandwidth:

There might be a slight performance loss when you go from PCIe 3.0 x16 to x8 icon_idea.gif

Suddenly got a lot of pseudo EE in here.

This situation is really top (moon) kek

Gotta thank the early adopters beta testing for everyone, including Nvidia

Funnily enough the scalpers are the one that lose the most because of the capacitor issues laugh.gif

Those scalpers are banging their head right now after they found out they bought those flawed cards and now they can't sell them out laugh.gif
