470W power consumption for the card alone (it's even more than some gaming PCs in entirety) is not exact pretty and let's just hope that this is not the norm for next gen GPUs
Seems like 450W is way too much for some cases to handle too:

The 12GB version has more CUDA cores, more SMP, more tensor and RT cores and uses a wider memory bus width. So it all adds up to boost the crucial 1% frametimes, which tightens up framepacing and stuttering.
Yes of course, that doesn't mean it's worth the RM1.7k extra over an ordinary 10GB 3080, but to call them identical is inaccurate.
Guess I'm stand corrected then (nVidia GPU lineup these days are starting to get quite confusing especially at the top end)

This is the exact reason why you should never buy new and fancy tech at launch - you're essentially paying companies to do QC for them, and the usual early adopters tax
To buy 9800x3d need to bundle with mobo. But to buy 5000series need to bundle WHOLE SYSTEM?! O.M.G!!!
Seems like buying hardware only benefit those changing whole PC.
Artificial shortages, yay But on a more serious note, do you really need the latest and greatest hardware to run most PC games these days? Unless you really like to squint on every single graphical detail most people out there doesn't really need a 5090+9800X3D
When almost every brand goes to TSMC and order chips. Obviously queue is happening. Then you have Intel or AMD not competing. The best automatically becomes "best seller" and shortage happens. Its not artificial, the obvious production queue is there. When Intel and Samsung fab catches up. We'll see better availablity if they start using Intel or Samsung.
Well I seriously doubt the two can catch up to TSMC in any meaningful way soon
So I checked stores around Lowyat and I think they only have about ~5 RTX 5090, but all need to buy with one PC SET. 1 dude from China bought RM 24k PC Set with 5090.
They have about dozens of 5080 tho... But still need to bundle with PC
I was prepared to spend 12k for 5090 so it's an odd feeling when it is not good enough for to buy a product
4080 Super and 4090 is all out of stock in lowyat, so I guess my build will have to endure being GPU less for awhile.
Those prices... you can buy a half decent used car
Apparently, the 50s GPU are in severe shortage , the entire world is struggling to find one. In USA they've only managed to ship a few hundreds of 5090 GPU. So expect the shortage to last for awhile longer.
On top of that you also have to compete with the Chinese and Scalpers who have fat wallets.
I was in Japan few days ago and can confirm they were indeed doing the lottery draw on who get a chance to buy it.
Msg'ed a couple of local retailers got the same replies PC bundles only. However , one of them eventually got back to me later with a sneaky note they can let one go for RM22K. Didn't mention the brand.
Good god, somehow Nvidia manages to make this GPU launch even more of a dumpster fire ...and I thought that the great GPU shortage of the pandemic is already bad enough
