Bitcoin(and similar ones) appear to be surging. What are the odds of price increase on Nvidia cards?
*
Nvidia GPU prices are going up with or without surge in bitcoin;
3090 (MSRP $1500) -> 4090 (MSRP $1600)
3080 (MSRP $700) -> 4080 (MSRP $1200)
3070 Ti (MSRP $600) -> 4070Ti (MSRP $800)

Rumours are that 4070 & 4060/Ti will only be released for sale in Q3 2023 as Nvidia seems to be adamant they want to selloff their midrange 3000 series without dropping their pricing to bargain discount level.

For those who are waiting, it looks like it will be a long wait.

I was waiting for 4070 due to it will have 3080 performance with lower power. Plus Palit gaming force card looks nice

But if too long waiting then can't tahan anymore 😅
*
Going by the 4000 series price increases, that 4070 might just be a $700 MSRP card or in other words, ur going to pay $700 MSRP for a GPU that performs the same as a 3080 that was launched at $700 MSRP 3 years beforehand, or in other words the price/performance ratio did not improve at all for 3 years other than you'll be going two steps down the family tree (x80 -> x70 Ti -> x70).

If you got the money and if its going to cost that much as I speculate, IMO better to get a 3080 as the larger memory bandwidth will scale better the 1% lows in 4K gaming.

Manli! Naiiseeeeeee... My first ever Nvidia card that I got was from Manli. 8800GT. LOL... how time flies... hahaha...
*
It was a huge plunge for me with this relatively unknown Chinese brand as that is the single most expensive component of my new built PC (with an i7-12700F), made worse that there are few English reviews of Manli products much less their GPUs. I just did a Google search of "Manli rtx review" and my review here in LYN actually came up 4th place, in Google! drool.gif

need honest opinion

currently using 3080 10GB(non LHR version) paired with  Ryzen 5600X X570mobo 32GB ram

screen reso : 3440 x 1440 ; 144Hz

Mostly playing FPS games i.e COD:BOCW ; Battlefield 5/2042 and the likes

worth ugprading to 4080?

not benchamark kind of things ya.. i know in theory its 50% faster but what in real life
*
Use MSI Afterburner to track if ur system is more prone to be CPU bound or GPU bound in ur fav games. Right now AM4 platform is ady deadened so you might just gain more longevity by 1st upgrading ur CPU to 5800X3d while stocks still last then later on change the GPU to something better ie 4090/Ti/TITAN(?) or RTX 5000 series.

A straight one generation upgrade is never really sensible and that is also repeated by many established reviewers.

I understand that it run PCIe 3.0, and it mean this board support PCIe 5.0?
*
Ur mobo documentation online indicates that it only tops at PCIE3.0 but it also says ur Alderlake CPU is using LGA1200. Interesting...

Regardless, ur mobo chipset is a H670 so its basically a Z690 sans OC capabilities, and so it just might be PCIE5.0 capable from the chipset but on the PCIE connection it has been limited to PCIE 3.0 cuz its OEM after all.

Thanks guys those commented..reason I asked earlier due to my GFx card can't detected.. hence the question should I upgrade.. sign of dead card

Turn out it's due to faulty cable sleeve

Anyway I also purchase tecware pcie Gen 4 riser cable

However when switch to Gen 4 in Bios.. the pc will boot normally..but when run furmark for 5 mins it will crash.. change back to Gen 3 in bios.. can run stable

Anyone had experience using tecware gen 4 pcie ribbon?
*
Mate, unless your running an RX6500 GPU, going down to PCIE 3.0 isn't going to lose you any perceptible performance. It isn't like running NVME SSDs. Just stick to that and you should be fine
https://www.techspot.com/review/2104-pcie4-...pu-performance/

Also Furmark really about stress testing the GPU, have you tried 3D Mark or using game benchmarks?

like i said earlier, i suspect either the GPU or riser cable dead.. hence i bought a new riser ribbon... coz my original was Gen 3.. ended up its the cable sleeve giving problem

since I have bought gen 4 which is double the price than gen 3..  im expecting to get gen 4 speed right? else why waste on gen 4

i've tested  direct gpu to mobo can get gen 4 speed without problem...

anyway im going to exchange the cable tommorow...
p/s : i also have emailed tecware on compatibality ; but they yet to reply
*
LOL if you understand the article that I linked to, you'll know that ur not gonna "get" PCIE 4 speeds since even Gen4 GPU aren't yet able to saturate the PCIE bus at 3.0 speeds. So nope even if that riser is working fine, its not going to double ur GPU PCIE thru put speeds as would the Gen3 to 4 tech would indicate.

But I get it, you paid for a PCIE 4 riser and so you should expecting it to work on a Gen4 setup. If you can get it RMA replaced, that's the best. However its not the end if you'll be limited to PCIE 3 as I shown above.

And as I said, have you tried other benchmarks ie 3D Mark or game benches looped for 1-2 hours? If they can run fine and produce acceptable results, you'll be fine even if furmark borks it as it isn't intended to test riser cable stability.

4060TI rumoured to be priced USD $500 and will perform similarly to 3070Ti... which was MSRP at USD $500 too. Will be relying on DLSS3 fake frames to get that "better" price/perf comparison with Ampere.

TSMC main competitor is Samsung and they have the whole might of K to catch up, but right now the real threat is order cancellations from nearly all their customers which will delay their development, allowing Samsung and others to catch up.

And why they cancel? Coz recession coming and when that happens market will be down, so eventually prices for 5000 series will come down, but the question is will YOU have the money to buy then.

They’re GPUs are definitely targeted on the higher end, that’s why you see the 4090 keeps getting sold out in western markets, because the recession does not affect the rich. Samsung foundries customers are definitely more lower end than TSMC so a recession will affect them worse
*
No matter how many 4090/4080 got sold out, it would still be bad news for Nvidia if their bread and butter xx60/70 series GPUS do not sell well enough. And if its true the rumoured asking prices, in a challenging market, they aren't going to do well here.

Unfortunately, x60/x70 series are not Nvidia bread and butter.
It is their high performance computing series that contributes the most to Nvidia margin of profit.
*
Incorrect. NVidia's main revenue still comes from gaming. And majority of their popular cards still comes from xx60/70 series, if you go see sales figures of US/EU market and in the Steam GPU survey. But their professional computing are rapidly rising and might overtake GPU sales percentage revenue if they keep giving stupid prices for performance not much more than previous gen.

I'm more happy with the fan noise. Now I cannot hear the GPU fans anymore.

Nice ghetto mod, did you connect the fans to GPU board or direct to mobo fan header? Have temps improved?

Mine is under the desk. Fan speed curve is set to min 20% and max 80%. Product description shows the Arctic f9 to run at 150 - 1800 rpm.

The only time I will ever put the rig on my desk is if I have all noctua fans in my rig. Not going to happen anytime soon as I still cannot accept the killer premium price of noctua fans.

Buy one every 2 months, sure can afford wan lol.gif Or else BeQuiet oso can work quietly.

He is a liar. He is actually referring to RM2.3k mining card 3080TI.

Maybe, but I would give him a benefit of a doubt and who knows if he really got jalan for brand new ones. I think if its like Manli or OCPC 3080Ti prolly can get at decent prices kua.

After all I oso never knew until recently that its possible to get 3060Ti from C Tier AIBs(Manli, Arktek, OCPC) for the price of 3060 nonTi from B Tier AIB(Zotac, Palit, etc) lor.

But if he really lying then he just killing his rep here. So I think should give him chance to show lar ya guys cool2.gif

Intel Arc, another main stream player coming in..

Intel (and to an extent AMD too) have been known to play with figures and charts that make them look good but actual scenario for 99% users won't have even close to their results. As usual, trust benchmarks from reputable sites.
