Not really worth it, but I guess if you want to get more fps out of your 4k setup, it's quite ok. Furthermore if you're rendering 3d stuff, I think it might be totally worth it considering how fast it could render.

Can't brain paying almost double the price for a 2080ti tho comparing with 1080ti at launch, with not so much improvement tho. Hoping 30 series has better pricing, back to 699usd please.

QUOTE(mbr @ Sep 14 2018, 10:22 AM) Prices until March was pretty high as ASIC miners for Etherium were not widely available and not sure on RTX release, so value and resale of older cards were pretty good. Things are kinda different now... 980Ti is 2 gens ago... Even GTX1070 is closer to RM1600 now than last year's RM2200 price Eh i sold mine last month. So

QUOTE(mbr @ Sep 14 2018, 10:30 AM) RGB costs lol I see it on Amazon for USD 410 (used) , so roughly RM 1650, so I guess people feel RM1.4k is a good deal If anything, once the benchmark is out, and if 20 series didn't do so well. The price for 10 series and below could maintain how it is, considering how expensive the 20 series is. Meanwhile I just jump to 1080ti, because no way i'm paying almost double for 2080ti.

I'd wait for other benchmarks first instead of relying on that one. But if that's the case, then that's really a nice performance increase. For those on 4K displays, it seems worth it to go for it, in my case my display still 1080p Still the price is way too expensive, praying AMD and Intel comes up with something good tho, if not those gpu prices will just increase further.

Below 2k for 1080ti is possible yes but most likely just Zotac brand. Other brands like Asus and etc will still be more expensive as usual. Wait when 2080ti out sure price will drop more.
I on the other hand just buy 1080ti and sell my 980ti before resale value drop more. But in this case 1080ti price also drop, so kinda a bit of dilemma that time haha. But considering my old 980ti is older and will drop like crazy, i think it's a safe bet rather than waiting for 1080ti price to drop further.
Also I game on 1080p setup still with 1080ti. Kinda overkill? But will last me for quite a while. Thinking of going 2k at least for the sweat spot for the card, rather than 4k, since need to lower some settings and etc.

QUOTE(edmund_yung @ Sep 17 2018, 02:31 PM) If both 980Ti and 1080Ti drop 20%, you will lose RM200 selling the 980Ti cheaper, but you save RM500 getting a cheaper 1080Ti. That's how I see it. The thing is, not many people is buying the 980Ti ATM with many people dumping their mining GTX1070. True also. I kinda got a buyer before I even sell it so I just let it go fast, considering that most will likely go for the 10 series rather than the 900 series. It will take a long time to sell and I even might to drop the price even more in the long run. Plus upgrading early just in case the price of the 10 series might actually go back up to normal, in case 20 series doesn't really perform that well.

QUOTE(Eoma @ Sep 19 2018, 02:25 PM) Prices are uncertain too now, with that article on wcfftech talking about trump tariffs and how they affect the AIB partners. Almost all AIBs said prices will increase. Why would it effect us? Thought it's US issue only. I guess a lot just want to make more money then if they charge more outside of the USA

Looks like I made the right choice for myself, buying 1080ti over 2080ti.. haha The boost are significant in some games but it's not that far off for most games. But, I guess for raytracing game it will be another story ofc This post has been edited by Rei7: Sep 19 2018, 09:28 PM

For those wanting to get 1080ti, I guess it's not bad to get a 2080, better performance a bit, and has RT and tensor cores. But yeah more money, but not so bad, if you don't mind paying a bit more. If not just get a 1080ti

QUOTE(silrave @ Sep 20 2018, 01:18 AM) haha ya i think i will go for 2080 But yeah 8GB VRAM for 2080.. while 1080ti has 11GB. So that's that to consider also.

QUOTE(silrave @ Sep 20 2018, 11:12 AM) ya now i am thinking wan 1080ti or 2080 Nvidia actually doesn't gimp old cards anymore. I use my 980ti with latest driver and it still give the same performance. I even had an older driver backup just in case they really gimp. I never needed to use it lol. Tho I worry if they might gimp the 10 series in favor of 20 series this time lol I'd go 1080ti, it's way way cheaper, it performs the same as a 2080. Despite 2080 having the RT tech and tensor cores, if raytracing game settings can only do 40fps for 1080p, what's the point of that 4k display lol. I don't see a need for RT yet. Maybe the next gen 30 series could handle RT better, but right now it's not good for those with higher than 1080p displays. Plus if you buy a 20 series now, what games can you even play with raytracing feature? None atm. If you want 2080ti I'd say go for it since it does a lot better with 4k, but 2080 nah.. 1080ti will do, cheaper as well.
