Prepare yourself with a big screw-driver and a hammer. To open it up is not an easy task. Ive opened 2 adapter in my life. One is iBook G4 and the other is PB G4. Both had the same level of difficulties.
Once open, need to do some reconnection back... soldering is the only option. As to essemble it back... almost zero success... unless using a hard tape and a powerful gum. "Gam gajah"??? believe me, Naaaaah... not good enough!
Goodluck....!!

QUOTE(MacDaNife @ May 10 2007, 07:23 AM) Guys, with all the reports of power adapters exploding and batteries catching fire; are you sure you want to do this? Sometimes, it's cheaper to spend a little. Certainly safer. I do agree on this. But some of us here do not have the liberty to spent money easily. The only option is to repair it (by hook or by crook... DIY). So I think, this is the best way for those on a low income.... like me (sigh) To my surprise, even after my own DIY on my adaptors, it still good and running for the 2nd year now

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ May 10 2007, 01:23 PM) @AppleMacUser, If it works then good. Just be cautious when ur using it - and ensure the tape doesn't melt due to heat. Also, definition of 'low income' is unique to most individuals. In my opinion, most of us would say we're earning enough - but hey, at the very least u have sufficient $ to get urself a computer. What about families (of 4!) who lives of RM1k per month? Be thankful with what u have Thank you for your concern. After 2 of my adaptor gone KO, I am now become so darn particular of its well-being and the usage itself. I am thankful what I have earn now but the fact that I cant afford to buy a new adaptor when you most needed is very much disappoint me..... No worries... I got 2 of it now and working as good as it is...
