I am Carousell seller
Yes, there are many scammers on Carousell However unlike Mudah which ignore those scammers, Carousell takes action and put special tag on any suspicious account so others will aware of them |

QUOTE(layzieboy @ Feb 28 2018, 08:28 AM) Not everybody got the privilege to do COD lahalso many sellers required buyer to put some deposit first before doing COD. so many FFK cases ask ask ask then promise to COD then confirm to come and when the time come buyer MIA not everybody doing full time being online seller. even when u ask the buyer to come over to your place also you need to slot some time for the buyer. if the buyer MIA you lost your time and opportunity to sell to other potential buyer as well scammer preying on gullible buyers out there by baiting them with cheaper than normal price. so please don't be greedy. |

QUOTE(JennyMusic @ Feb 28 2018, 05:55 PM) if you are paranoid, even COD also not safe you better read this case https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1475584 Forumer you are complaining against : Not a forumer. Calling himseld Raymond Item being stole : 3 Units of Laptops Original thread link : Sale at Mudah Date of transaction : 30 Jun 2010 Amount loses : RM14,100 sad.gif The Story On 24th June 2010 (Thursday), I got a call from someone calling himself raymond. He told me that he is so interested with the Laptops that i advertised in Mudah.com. To make it looks real, he asking me if he can trade in his friend's Toshiba L510. I m asking for the spec, and after some hrs, he send me the full spec. I told him that i take it RM1,200 and he need to top up RM13,200 considering each of my 3 laptops selling at RM4,800. After some negotiation, i agree to reduce RM200, make it RM13,000 top up. He said that was cool and straightaway tell me that he gonna check his bank account whether he can make it that day (24th June 2010) or not. After sometimes, he sms saying that he got not enough cash and ask me if i can wait until 28th June 2010 (Monday) because he said thats was his payday. I said, okay.. i will wait. On 28th June 2010, i sms him if we can deal today as he said b4, he straightaway call me and said he got his pay by cheque and need 2 days to be cleared. Maybe on Wednesday, it will be clear and he said he will contact me back later on Wednesday. I said OK. On 29th June 2010, he call me when i m at office, saying that his friend decide to not to trade in his Toshiba, and he will pay full amount. I guess its was a good news for me. So i said, No Problem. He said, tomorrow he will contact me again to confirm time n place. He said maybe at lunch time, 1.30pm. Again, i m OK with it. On 30th June 2010, early in the morning around 8am, he call me to confirm the time. 1.30pm at his apartment at Bandar Puteri Puchong. He gave me the full address and ask me to come to his house. I said to him, that i might come after 1.30pm then, since i m working n got something to settle 1st including fixing my car and posting the 16gb 3gs to jhlee_0722 which he had paid today and expect to send before 3pm as i promise him. Right at 1.30pm, he call me said that he already at home and waiting for me. I said, i will be there 1hr later, but he said he need to be back at office by 2.30pm. I guess, i have no choice but to settle deal with him 1st, considering that I might still have a time later to go Pos Laju to send the phone. Raymond keep call me asking if i could reach his house in time, at last i arrive at his apartment area at 1408. Direct call him, and meet him at the parking area. Average guy, definitely chinese, wearing shorts and blue t-shirt (eh, u said rushing to go back to office, but u wearing shorts?). I say sorry to him for my late. He said ok, even help me carrying one of the laptop and take me to his house. His apartment is a ground floor. He even tell me that he hope i will don't mind to come into his house because he said he has a dog but then the dog was pent up in a cage. Then i said nevermind. He lock off his house padlock, and ask me to come in. Entering his house, nice and clean house i must say. Tv was open. I sat down at the couch right in front of the TV, and start to open each laptop for checking purpose while he lock up the sliding door padlock. Upon checking, i found that the laptop out of batt and i pull out the charger from its packaging to charge it so that we can test. He said its ok, i can open another one, because he dont want the real package of charger been open. I said OK. I open another one which is still in sealed. Unfortunately, that unit also need to be charge. Then, he said OK la. I trust u, furthermore the laptop is sealed. At the moment, i said how come he dont want to check? This is 14K plus deal. Hmm. nvm la, maybe he really urgent to get back to office. After that, we talk about the price again, and he ask to nego some more, from RM14,400. I said RM14,200, then he ask me RM14,100, he said he doesnt want to nego until 14K, simply because i already had trouble coming all my way to his apartment. Then i said OK lah.. After that, he bring all the laptops to one of the room, and ask me to wait because he need some time to prepare the money. I m understand because i myself will do the same if in his situation. It is RM14K money sweat.gif. Before entering his room with all the laptops, he telling me that i can turn the tv to the other channel if i insist, and after a while, he ask me whether i want some drink, i m asking for plain water. After handed me a glass of water, again he ask me to wait for him to prepare the money. After 15 minutes waiting (isnt that long? but trust me, i really have no doubt of him because it was his house. He has the house key!!), he smsed me, the SMS that i will never ever forget, the SMS i will never ever delete from my phone.. "KEY AT TV, HOUSE NOT US, SORRY" Straightaway i see the key on the tv rack, going to the room, its locked... i calling his name, silence.. i go get the house key, open the padlock, and i saw from the outside of the room, the grill has been open, the window has been open, there is a chair outside and inside the room. I was stunned for 2-3 minutes.. i go back inside the house, checking other rooms, but all the rooms was locked. The dog in the cage have some weird looks on me. I went out from the house, lock up the sliding door and grill, fasten to the guard house. I m asking whether they have see the guy (i describe the guy to them) drove out from the apartment, they said they never notice. All residents coming in, going out, so they really didnt notice. I ask them whether i can have the details of the house owner. I told to the management and security head what was happen, and they called the owner, single chinese girl (call her Alice). Alice was then come back home from office. She is working 8-6. user posted image This is Alice house, the open windows was the room Raymond enter in and out (from the window). You can see the chair outside there. There is another chair inside. Alice claim, inside the room only got a thin matress, a cupboard, and 2 box consists of newspapers. Raymond bring all those things while Alice not at home. user posted image If you can see clearly, there is a red pail there and a piece of cloth. He was preparing that as well, so that anyone from outside will be thinking that he was cleaning the windows. Alice arrive and the story is, Raymond was one of her room renter. He rent the room, paying 2 months rent (Mei and June), but never going in. 2 week before, he came to Alice office to get the house key, Alice did ask for his IC Copy, but then he manage to not giving what Alice want by so many excuses, telling that he will give her that night when he moving in to the room. Alice said, she got no choice but to give him the key and was weird because he never move in that night as what he said. She keep calling Raymond, but Raymond said he was so busy outstation, meeting client (claiming to Alice that he is an insurance agent), so he cannot pick up call. Alice don't bother because he seems like a good person, met her with his gf and the point is, he already pay her the rent. Alice was so kind, later she going to police station nearby with me for making report. She herself need to buy new sets of padlock because Raymond might be back again. The only details i got was his hp number. And Alice got his another number. For sure, both number cannot be reach. I m not going to expose the number, because i m pretty sure he will never use the number back. If happen i manage to get thru the number, i will expose it here later. I m so lucky actually that nothing from the house was stolen, Raymond just using the house trick me. If not, i maybe in trouble too. If you can see, he start all this from renting the room from Alice. He need a ground unit, for sure a room with windows so easy for him to get out, he was so smart to make it like he is not so urgent on buying, he told he need to wait until his payday.. whatsoever.. what for? he dont have to prepare the money, he just lose around 7xx to pay Alice, but looks what he got. He was successful. Talking on the phone like he was so professional, never forget to say thanks in the end of each sms/call conversation, what can i say, he was so smart. TBH, i never ever expect that i got to be cheat. But God have show me that we all need to always thanks HIM. This is HIS test to me and i guess i really need to face it. Life must go on. The Lesson To Me and You : 1) Never ever pass the stuff before money in hand, even if you are in his house. 2) Bring someone with you. 3) Dont simply be tricked to a smart guy. 4) ...... You can list down yours. The Lesson To Alice : 1) YOu got the money, you dont have his details, you give him your house key?? sweat.gif 2) List down yours Nevertheless, I will ask CODEX help.. smile.gif After some consideration and for the goods of us, the number is : 1) 0176808454 2) 0176383086 ************************************************************************************************ 19/7/2010 I got some information from our forumer, saying that he saw someone selling same model laptop as mine which has been stolen, and he got 2 units. I m manage to get seller phone number, and directly sms him regarding the laptop. He said he got 2 units and he selling on behalf of his fren. After giving him some reasonable talks, he agree to provide me with the serial number for both units but as he said, he need some times, because both units still with his fren. He need to wait until his fren reply him. 20/7/2010 It was 2.30pm, I am on my way to Ipoh to buy a new unit of iphone 3gs from one of our forumer when the Laptop seller sms me saying sorry because he just woke up and late to reply. I said its ok, and directly ask regarding the serial number. He said that he only got 1 unit with him now as he said the other one has been sold by his fren. I said never mind, just let me know the serial number. Surprisingly, the serial number he gave me is the exactly same with what was written in my receipt. I was like... shocked and thank god when i got that serial number from him. I convince the seller to reserve the unit for me as i m serious buyer and promise him to deal after 3pm tomorrow (21/7/10). He said okay. In the meantime, i m asking one of forumer (my fren) to delete all this thread details as the seller might come across this thread and decide to cancel the deal. On my side, i already check the seller detail and i pretty sure that the seller is not the one who steal the laptop from me. Already speak up with those guys who successfully deals with him and he seems like a good guy. I have contact my mom later to ask for her advise whether i would just come with my frens to meet seller OR else. She directly call the head of Balai Polis where i reported the case to help me on it, and the DSP (Ketua Balai) straightaway asking one of his officer (Inspektor) to dealing with me. The inspector has call me and ask the details of the meeting and i told him as what i have been discuss with the seller. I have call back the seller and set up the place and the time to meet and it has been decided. KFC Giant Kota Damansara 21/7/2010 9pm. Seller said okay. 21/7/2010 Around 11am, i got informed again by another forumer, there was a guy selling the same model too.. i m surprised as this time, the one who selling the laptop is the one who i got those 3 laptops from. He even know me and still have my number in his contact. He said that this time its was bought from outside seller (a girl) and that girl accidentally saw his thread (he never closed his thread even tho he sold off those laptops to me long ago) and ask him if he want to buy hers at cheap price and later he can sell at higher price. Thinking of the profit he might get, he bought the unit from that girl who claiming that it was an unwanted birthday present from her bf and open another thread to sell this one. I sms him and as well as the 1st seller, i manage to get the serial number and voila!!.. its also the same as the one in my receipt. I was like.. WOW.. very thankful to god. I keep this info (not yet telling the Inspektor) and setting up with him to meet at Shell Giant Kelana Jaya (Beside LDP) 1130pm. 8pm, i reached at the Balai Polis, and waiting for the inspector to arrive. He said he was rushing from Ampang and ask me to wait. 830pm, he reached and we discuss a bit on how we gonna deal with both sellers. I went to Giant Kota Damansara 1st with the Inspector and a detective who drove the police car (not patrol car tongue.gif ) Arrive Giant Kota Damansara around 930pm and direct call the seller. I m waiting for the seller inside the KFC and 5 minutes later he arrive. Very honest and kind looking guy to be honest, and definitely not the culprit. Checking the serial no to double confirm. Later, the inspector come and ask for his IC. He interrogate the seller on where he got the laptop, what is his relation with the real owner (his fren), etc. Finally, the inspector ask him to follow to Balai to have further interrogate with the IO (Pegawai Penyiasat Kes). Went to his office (he is working on that time) nearby to talk to his man in charge. The inspector ask me to go to the other meeting place with the seller (using his car smile.gif ), seller never have problem with it. He said he doesnt know his fren (the fella ask him to sell the laptop) well, just met him at restaurant several times, and he ask him to sell the laptop as he has been offered some commission. He never expect that it was a stolen item and he said he will never agree to sell that if he knew it from the 1st. Later, reach the Shell Giant Kelana Jaya, the other seller reached with his gf 10 minutes later. I came to him and he ask me if i need the receipt as the last time deal. I said nevermind, want to check it first. Check the serial number to double confirm, and give a sign to the inspector. The inspector come, asking for his IC and asking him to park his car properly. Later he ask him pretty same questions with the one he asked the 1st seller. The different is, this seller has already lost his money (he bought from the gurl) while the 1st seller not losing anything. He never ever expect the one on his hand was the one he sold off to me. He kinda shocked when i show him the receipt which he issued to me when i m purchase from him. He even have the receipt book with him and he double check the serial no. What to say, lastly, he also need to follow the police to Balai. Reached balai around 12am, the IO interrogates both sellers personally. I also helping them to explain everything. What we all do know, the one who can bring out the culprit now is the 1st seller since he might contact him anytime to collect his money from the sale. The seller keep contact him but he never answer it. He claim that it was a normal thing for his fren to not answering his call. So, we just need to wait for the culprit to call the seller. After all the discussion, the IO call her officer and the officer command to remand them both. Sadly, both need to be remand for maximum 4 days. I was like, haihz.. how could this happen. I dont want them to be remand in lockup. But then this is police case. The officer said to me "Not for you to worries, leave it to police, OK?". hurmm.. i went back home after been asking to do so. 22/7/2010 I keep sms the inspector to know the status of both seller whether still in remand or already released. No reply. Later around 10pm. The inspector call me saying that he on his way to bring the culprit to Balai. They already setting the between the 1st seller and the culprit. So, he ask me to go to balai to identify the culprit. Me and my wife went to Balai as what i have been ask to. I really hope thats will be the guy who steal the laptop so that the case will end soon. But, when the inspector reached Balai with the 1st seller and the culprit, it was definitely not him. I m pretty sure that is was not him. Later i ask the inspector to contact Alice (The Landlord) to double confirm that wasnt him. When i reach home, the inspector call me to ask whether the (014******) is my number. I said yes, and asking how he knew it. He said that my number were in that last guy handphone. I m confused because that guy was definitely not the one who deal with me. I come out with a possibility that this last guy might be the mastermind. He might be the one who actually contacting with me from the 1st while he send another guy to meet me on behalf of him. When the incident took place, this guy might be in his car (BMW 5 Series) parking nearby and the culprit (his kaki) might get off from the house with him. But then, while the IO might agree with me, they cannot charge him because he was not the one who deal with me. This guy claim that he got the laptop from someone he didnt know by jalan-jalan at Plaza Kotaraya, and the culprit will come to him to offer these hot stuffs. So far, at least he already meet the culprit 10 times and yet, he never knew the culprit contact number whatsoever. As for his phone that have my number was in it, he said that phone was a 'gift' from the culprit for buying so many items from him. Worse come to worse, police only can charge him for "EMITTING STOLEN STUFFS". Not for stealing the stuffs because he was definitely not the conman. There is some sort of details that police still working on it. And i cannot dispose it here. As for now, this is all what i can share with u guys. And plz, plz dont ask me who is the 1st seller and the 2nd seller. They both has been released on 23/7/10 around 8pm and that news really2 made me relief. I will not expose their details here. Those who knows, plz keep it to yourself as they both wasnt the culprit. |

QUOTE(JennyMusic @ Feb 27 2018, 07:37 PM) Does anyone sell or buy stuff on Corousell ? I think there are 70% of them are scammers . Both Mudah and courousell not safe to sell your items . im both seller and buyer. so far so good since i opt to COD both buying and selling. last transaction that i did is selling a mac book. both carousell and mudah are not dangerous to use. only buyer are stupid to not to think logically. always opt to COD if buying item >rm50, that is my rule of thumb. and another rule of thumb is if its too cheap, there are something fishy about it.Please share your experience . |

its actually a gamble to buy things from mudah or carousel. But I do get very cheap tickets/hotel bookings which I buy via mudah and carousel for example i manage to get rm200 for a 1 night stay in Marriot, 350 for 1 night stay at ritz calton and etc.etc. Yes I was cheated twice and rugi about rm200. But I gained a lot also from the discounts i obtained.
