Definitely not too late. These sorts of things will start becoming a real problem decades down the road when you keep doing the same routine/eating the same stuff...

It's a relatively early in the new year. This is a perfect opportunity to start a new resolution I think.

Diet : Calorie deficit
Exercise : Resistance training and sensible cardio

Do the above IMMEDIATELY and you will lose your FAT and improve your cholesterol level. You can start gym at any age as long as you are physically abled to carry weights

I cannot recall but last time my Cholesterol was also higher than stated range in the diagnostic report, but the doctor said actually the range was not correct. Mine is okay rclxub.gif

Yes, need to read medical journal. Opinion on medical always change from time to time because what was right then might not be right on recent discovery. The cholesterol is produced by your body about 70% and the other 30% is from food. Most cholesterol medication is statin base and it has many side effects too. You can Google it. What the drug does is just to cheat your brain by telling your body has enough cholesterol already. Your body reaction is to reduce or stop cholesterol production.

On the uric acid, what is your favorite food or drink that you usually take? Do you always take seafood, drink and juices like orange, grapes or do you like soft drinks?

Nope. It was just normal clinic doctor that talk to me. Medical is always something mystery. You can ask doctor as short question even if yo go to clinic for flu. I think they do not mind giving simple brief explanation. To prepare for questions, you can Google first.

I think the soya is the cause for your high uric acid, I would suggest lower the soya intake and check the result.

You need to evaluate your risk. Do you have high BP, overweight, smoking, drinking, inactive, high sugar?

If none of the above then you try to lower your cholestrol by food and exercise. Is your triglyceride high?

Cholesterol 8.5 is very high, you can do all the ways mentioned above or faster result is seeing a doctor to get a statin, usually after 1 month u should see improvement already, then after that u can stop the statin and control diet. Uric acid you need to control diet, reduce high purine food e.g. soy, seafood, red meat, mushroom, etc.

Weight gain, hyperdyslipidemia (elevated Blood lipid level like HDL) are all related to Metabolic disorder. Just exercising alone won't usually help and meal replacement diets are not for the long run; how long can you sustain using the meal replacement? What are your goals after achieving Fat loss? Do you still intend to use the meal replacement even after losing weight?

Ban Trans Fats. But it’s hard to avoid them. They’re found in fried foods, baked goods (cakes, pie crusts, frozen pizza, and cookies), and stick margarines.
Exercising at least 2 1/2 hours a week is enough to raise HDL and improve LDL and triglycerides
Foods like oatmeal, apples, prunes, and beans are high in soluble fiber, which keeps your body from absorbing cholesterol.

I hope that was fasting Total Cholesterol (TC). 8.5 is still amenible by diet and exercise; well-palnned aims can bering it down to less than 5.2 in many people. You may not be able to correct LDL that easily, but you sure can protect your cardiovascular better if you can get your HDL to above 1.3 (difficult, but doable; mine is 1.38 and im happy enough)
