Looking at the specs alone, it would be a no brainer to get the S9 instead of the S9+. Unless it is substantially cheaper.
*
But if you upgrade from S8/S8 plus, S9 is not worthy at all since it only have 4GB ram and single len. From what I could see at it, S9+ is the true successor of S8/S8+. Meanwhile S9 is for the buyers who don't care about significant upgrade.

Rumor says that there will be trade-in offer for the preorder.
Hopefully this is true.
*
It could be true. Check the S9 interest registration link in sme facebook. Inside the registration form, they do ask if you are willing to trade in your phone. AFAIK, they never asked that question in previous launches.

here you go, S9 & S9+.

Seriously, they are more like S8s & S8s+. sweat.gif

The blue and violet color look very nice though, better than the color on S8 series. drool.gif

Edit: Worth to mention, AR Emoji icon. I guess that's the new feature from Samsung to compete with Apple's Animoji.

seems like less curve, as the mid frame is now thicker.
*
For S9, yes. It's less curve similar to Note 8.

For S9 plus, it's curve is almost similar to S8 plus.

Why no one post this here? already on s8 thread

*
After watching the introduction video, we could notice that Samsung keeps mentioning the word business all around the scenes. Usually the term "Business" is reserved for Note series.

Looks like nowadays the boundary between S series and Note series is ceased to exist.

Yeah only slight difference between each model.
Sort of a minor upgrade with each release.

Seemed like running out of ideas for phones.
Need some revolutionary change that will make an impact & redefine the phone market.
*
There's rumor saying S9 will be the last model in S series, same goes to Note 9 in Note series. Next year their name will be changed to X series. The brand new design foldable display phone will appear and become the top dog of all series.

really? sad.gif

i think they will still remain note series but rename it to something else maybe hmm.gif

*
No la. What I meant is both S and Note changed to X, no number anymore. Such as Galaxy X and Galaxy Note X.

Just a rumor. So treat it as grain of salt. smile.gif

If the S9+ has 6GB RAM and dual camera, then I think that the difference between those two series would have been blurred further.
*
Yes. Most likely S9+ will have 6gb ram and dual camera. The only difference between Note 8 are the processor, speaker and camera spec, plus couple of extra features such as AR emoji and enterprise Knox edition. If you own Note 8, you sure won't have urge to upgrade your current phone to S9 series.

This bring up another question, what's the major target market of S9 series? Based on the leaked trailers, they are camera enthusiastic and businessmen. At the same time, I have a feeling that Samsung is holding back this time. No major change on the design, only a few changes on specs and softwares. Probably keeping the good stuff for the upcoming 10th anniversary? Or the upcoming foldable display series?

Anyway, despite that fact that so far almost all the info have leaked, I will still watch the launch tonight since Samsung product launch is always great and pleasing. :)

I won’t be watching, old man already, sleep is important, ha ha...

Anyways, yeah, I watched the video too and feel maybe Samsung in the US may be losing enterprise customers to Apple hence the focus on business this round with the “Enterprise Edition”. The new Dex looks interesting though. I wonder if it’ll work with the S8s and Note 8.
*
If it's software basis, then surely it will work with S8 and Note 8. The only question is whether Samsung is willing to release the enterprise edition software to the older generation phones. And if they are willing to do so. Then another new question to be answered which is, when?

As for the new Dex, confirm it will support S8 and Note 8. If not, the old users will be rage. Lol.

The official said 1 am sharp, but I will open the link in half an hour before it starts.

So are you going to watch it as well bro? I know that most likely I won't consider to buy S9. But as a Samsung fan/fag, I am still eagerly want to know what is the new change in this new generation. Haha.

The price for Malaysian market is
S9 = RM3299
S9+ = RM3699

Sauce: SoyaCincau
[attachmentid=9617446]

I think I'll keep my s8+ for another year. The GPU is not a significant upgrade over Mali-G71.
*
Wow. Releasing the 128GB and 256Gb variants at the same time. That's a new thing for SME market.

And blue coral for the first bacth as well.

Why they didn't do the same thing for the S8 & Note 8? Envy~~ biggrin.gif

Anyone managed to find any video on speaker comparison between S8 and S9?
*
Not yet at this moment. But based on some youtubers first impression, mkbhd said the improvement is not that significant, only louder a bit. While the others such as Android authority said it's quite loud, a lot louder.

So I guess it's all based on personal perception afterall.

The pressure sensitive sensor embedded at the bottom of the screen is one small feature that i appreciate much. Easier to wake the screen instead of reaching for button
*
Not sure why Samsung doesn't want to implement double tap on screen to wake up feature. Imo, this is much convenient compared to home button sensor.

Since when buying high-end phone will untung one? Even used for a month then sell like Uncle Benny also rugi few hundreds. Let alone for your 1 years old phone.

That's why I won't waste anymore money on sp, skin, etc. Just bought a durable case and use it naked. The RV going to drop anyway. Why let the buyer enjoy the brand new screen when you who paid the premium didn't get to enjoy it.
*
This I agree +9999.

Worry about this worry about that, at the end, everyone is trying so hard to keep their phones as prestine as possible just for the potential 2nd hand buyer. While the owner himself didn't get to enjoy the phone till the maximum.

Anyway, it's a matter of personal preference. I respect that. But I can't imagine myself trying so hard to let go the old phone with highest resale value. If you can find a willing buyer, good for you. But if can't, then just trade in the phone. Save the trouble and time. It may not be the best choice, but at least it's a workable method.

Do you think Note 8 price will drop after S9 launch?
*
No. Note 8 RRP price will only drop at half or 1 month before Note 9 is going to be released.

Actually I never felt my battery was insufficient when I was using OnePlus 3, Sony Z3 and HTC 10. All of them have 3000mAh-ish battery capacity. But I started to feel the battery was inadequate since I changed to the P10. I thought it was the Huawei issue. Mana tau S8 is even worse. doh.gif Not sure what went wrong. Probably is the apps I installed.
*
Not your fault. All of us know that weak battery life is one major flaw when it comes to Samsung.
