Ok I went to the Samsung shop and enquired about the trade up programme. So for the first time Samsung staff will install an app into your current phone to do diagnostic before accepting for trade. Whether it will check for Knox status due to root or not, he will get back to me after finding out from HQ. Trade up starts 16/3/18. Unlike last time just check exterior condition of phone. If anyone has info regarding the app, please share your information here.

I thought trade in starts on the 9th March as stated qin the website.

He told me 9th is for collection of s9 preorder buyers. Trade up stock only arrive on 16th.

Anyway staff got back to me regarding the app. Rooted phone will be rejected due to tripped Knox status.

That's weird. Before this some people posted the info that trade-in is also eligible to those pre-orders.

So based on your experience, is this means that if you want to pre-order and also trade-in the old phone at the same time, you will need to wait until 16th March only can pick up the new phone?

What can we do with the apps , the device maintenance come with phone not good?

Means they are dealer. They just make trade in look more professional with terms and condition.

Why trade in different stock? Not like trade in you get more special pricem

Actually Samsung's device maintenance already good enough, but SD Maid is more convenient and customizable since it let you choose which part you wish to clean up, while Samsung Device Maintenance clean all of them at once when you click the optimise button.

Seldom. I only clean it up when the phone's maintainence level is below good status, like 40-50%. Frankly speaking, nowadays Samsung flagships won't get slow down easily even you do heavy task on it. So, I guess clean up one time per month should be sufficient enough. Unless you installed a lot of rogue apps inside your phone, then it's another story to tell.

those who keep saying lag are most probably the old touchwiz user and probably never bothered to look back then in their mind it is still a "laggy" OS

should probably try again to experience the overhauled new samsung touchwiz (Samsung Experience now) and they may change their perspective on samsung

No bro. With only the speaker as a freebie and I heard stocks are still aplenty, it might be a bit hard to dispose of the unit later. No advantage on a preorder unit like extended 1 year warranty and 1 year screen protection unlike last year's.

Honestly Samsung preorder this round is not interesting at all, no price reduction and no free wireless charger/ power bank that is useful. The speaker is useless to many. Quote disappointed with Samsung's offer this round.

Agreed, for me personally I just need a discount considering how fast the value drops. Would have gone for it had there been a preorder discount, coupled with the Qoo10 voucher would have made it easier to dispose later.

Nevermind the discount, but the extended warranty and 1 year screen protection would be more important as a selling point.
