I've been training her to wee wee on da newspaper, but still unsuccessful yet, only 2~4 times out of ten. Hehe. Any advice from all sifus here to make sure she pee/poo on the newspaper 100%? Have tried the housebreaking aid spray too..but useless one.

babymiki; conangirl : im already very patient with her d, sometimes she can pee/poo at the newspaper for 2~3 days, thn sometimes will simply pee/poo after that. Hem..im not sure whether she's trying to play around and purposely didnt want to pee/poo on the newspaper. hehe.

chrisoys : ya, even the vet say's she's so tiny. only slightly over 600grams, and now almost 11 weeks old d.I've been feeding her 2 chinese spoonful every meal, 3 times a day.

She likes to bite everything. Sometimes really out of control hehe. Hope her teething period ends fast..

chrisoys, it seems true my April really small size. Have you came across this type of problem? But she's healthy 100% wo. She doesnt look like a yorkie right? coz i know yorkie's are smaller.

babymiki : my gf bought her for rm1k from Pet's Family during the pet show in Midvalley. Comes with 3kg eukanuba. Then spend about RM400 for all the other things like cage, bed, shampoo etc. Because I wasnt aware of this thread, else I'll surely buy from a good breeder like Mr.Choy recommended by chrisoys. But luckily April is healthy, just smts too hyperactive.

babymiki,

i just said a firm "No" then carry her to the newspaper. I did exactly like what I've read in articles as I've been reading tens of puppy training articles during the past few weeks.

I wanted to fence her in a smaller place so its easier to train her to pee on the newspaper, but then she'll surely whines loudly. Whenever i fence her, she cant get to approach me and my gf, then she'll whine. Very troublesome too.

Ya, i did ignore everytime she whines. For 3 weeks d. But everytime she heard us coming back, she'll whine also. Haha, sometimes very funny coz she whines till she almost lost her voice.

I just wish to toilet train perfect her as soon as possible. Everything else I can teach her slowly.

you saw me buying april? hehe.

Ya, at first i did give her a stern "NO" ..then after several times, she seems to be angry at me and purposely go pee/poo at other places. Everytime i put her back on the newspaper, she'll just run away to other places. She ran so fast i cant even chase her. hehe. This is a stubborn one..keke.

haha...bf? not planning to let her have a "family" yet..

I think most silkies are stubborn and super-active. Now i just hoped that in another 2~3 months she'll be much more obedient and disciplined.

I'm planning to bring her for the RM150 obedience class organized by Purina Puppycom after her 3rd vaccination. Anyone had joined this class before? Is it effective?

Added on April 16, 2008, 8:57 pmdoes a new puppy suppose to come together with his/her MKA cert? The pet shop says I can only collect April's MKA cert after 6 months. Is this true? Pls advice.

Ya, my little April also got hair on the comb. I think its normal, but they hardly shed any hair like other dogs. We human comb our hair also got hair on da comb rite.

Thanks all for da reply for the MKA cert. Means I gotta wait till October..hehe. Anyone knows about the RM150 Purina Dog Obedience Training classes? Comments?

My little April got quite serious tear stains, between her eyes and below her eyes as well. Her hair at those area seems dry and hardened. Any advice how do I heal these stains? icon_question.gif

There are four branches for Pet's Family:

1. at Tmn Megah (beside Ming Tian Food Court), Jln SS24/8

2. at Bukit Tinggi, Klang, Lorong Batu Nilam 4B

3. at Taman Gaya, JB

4. at Tmn Nusa Bestari, JB

Nice place to shop but sometimes their things are rather expensive and limited. I personally felt that some pet shops in Puchong are cheaper in price, just my two cents blush.gif

I just found out on the internet that tear stains must be removed as often as possible. If left unattended too, they will become near-permanent and very hard to maintain by then.

Hem, no one commented on my question regarding the obedience class...? icon_question.gif

I've been to denise & dylan in Aman Suria too, their price is pretty high and very little choices too. Why not go to 88 PetsMart which is nearby in SunwayMas Commercial Center? Their prices are quite reasonable as well.

Hem, still no one can comment on my questions regarding the obedience training?

If there's anyone who've tried the RM150 training class pls comment ya.

Hem, my April already 3 months old d, but recently had being extremely hyper-active. Always want to play only. If we dont play with her, she'll stare at us and start barking (yup, she learns to bark already). Sometimes pretty scary, looking at us like going to bite us if we dont play with her. Is this normal for a 3 month old silky? How can I tame her down. Pls advice icon_question.gif

thanks for the advice on tear stains babymiki n remymj. But since I've bought the tear stain remover, I'll see if it is useful. Have being using it for five days now, and seems that April's stain are decreasing. Then when she get older I'll get the one babymiki had recommended.

Is it near Yuen steamboat? I think I'll pay a visit next week. Do they have wide selections of kibbles?  brows.gif

It's in SunwayMas Commercial Center, not really sure if it's near Yuen steambot. But their signboard are huge so its pretty easy to find. However I still prefer shopping at Pet's Family and Petsmore.Com in SS15, Subang Jaya. They give very good advice and service, besides I have membership card so got discounts! hehe tongue.gif

I understand that she had lots of silkies and does grooming as well. Let me know if you're going to meet her ya. Im looking forward to meet her as well. Hehe.

Were you there alone?

yea~~ at the mean time all i can do is spend more time wid her~~

all my 3dogs are either adopted or from road side~~>.<
tht's y i dun hv the chance to c them grow from puppy to adult...

desireeang,

dun worry, as long as you love her, we all trust that she'll overcome her fear. Perhaps its due to some of her bad experience previously.

Probably if you can try these to help her overcome her fear:

-take her often to places that she might be scared of .. then give her treats if she is brave enough to go to that place
-play a lot of toys with her..throwing them all over the place, and fetching it back to you..then give treats
-start playing gentle with her so she feels secure..then slowly increase your roughness; she should be able to get used to it after some practice
-bring her to mix around with more dogs (esp which she's comfortable with) as dogs normally learns from one another
-treats for good behaviour and discipline are usually effective

Just my 2 cents biggrin.gif Cheers.

ziest,

wah ur silky so keng, can bark at strangers. My silky sees any stranger will straight away go to that stranger for cuddle and hug..useless. Haha. Then bark every morning at 7am sharp to wake us up..probably can wake the whole neighbourhood.

muchan86,

perhaps having silky now is a good idea? I just think that raising silky in a big house is much more troublesome, as u need to be very watchful of where your silky goes. You need to keep away all toxics like detergents etc..and need to keep house very clean too.

babymiki,

maybe everytime she let you comb her you can give her treats? My silky will rush to me everytime I take up the comb..she likes it very much, not like last time ^o^
