should be better since SD845 is quite optimized for camera performance

but not sure about our version with the exynos 9810? might be better but samsung have to pull its capabilities down (same as our note 8 with SD835) in order not to make E8895 feel like the better phone lol
as i read somewhere, E8895 can definitely perform much better if samsung unleash their chip to its full potential
*
Indeed. If you need to own a note which having the fully unleashed power exynos chipset, you will need to wait for note 10. According to the latest tech news, Samsung will be ditching Snapdragon chip on 2019. By then, all Samsung phones will come with exynos soc only.

Tldr: Excellent service at Lowyat service center. Wanted to change only the screen, but managed to change the screen, frame, battery and home button all under 2 hours.
I would like to share my experience going to the Samsung Service Centre at lowyat just now:

Previously in the forum I mentioned that my screen suddenly have burn in. I was surprised and wanted to claim under warranty. I called the lowyat service centre on monday, and asked if there is stock for the screen (there was) and I asked the person to save it for me.

I went to the service center just now and sent the phone at 6.30. I showed the person at the counter my phone and showed him the parts of the screen that has burn in. He saw it, and said definitely can change. Then he said it will only take 1 hour since it is under warranty (I was so surprised)

Then, since I only wanted to change the screen, I didnt mention anything else. But when I just went out of the place, the guy called me and asked about the paint peeling on the metal frame. He asked if they were scratches, and I just told him it was paint peeling. Then he said okay, can change the the frame too. I was damn surprised didnt know if paint peeling can claim under warranty. I have the black Note 8, and the black note 8 had some terrible paint peel

I got the phone at 8.30 because the technician did water test and stuff, and the guy told me the screen was changed, the frame was changed, the battery was changed, and the home button (I assume the vibrator under the screen) was changed. I didnt even ask to change the battery and check anything else!!!! Its like winning jackpot!!!

All in all I was so surprised that I got an excellent service. Now the phone feels brand new
*
They changed the battery because it's attached to the screen. So when you change the screen, you need to change the battery as well. They had to. And yes. When it comes to after service, lowyat center is one of the best. No doubt about it.

Are you sure? I think I watched a Note 8 teardown before and the battery does not need to be changed just because you change the screen, can just reuse the battery. I might be wrong, but surprised and happy nonetheless
*
Because I always heard people who went to SC said, when they changed screen, Samsung sure would change the battery as well. That's the procedure. Perhaps other people who have similar experience can confirm this. Nonetheless, yes, it's a good thing that you get a brand new phone, literally. Happy for you bro. smile.gif

Tomorrow morning 1am S9/Plus unpacked. Heard price is getting more expensive then last generation.  Hope next Note 9 will not selling above RM4k..
*
Sorry to rain on your parade bro. Unless Malaysia economic recover and ringgit value is strengthen (which unlikely to happen), Note 9 sure will be selling above 4k.

Hey guys. Which updates do you think possible to get for our note 8 from s9+? I think the new live focus should be able if it is only need software update.
*
Bixby AR function, AR emoji, intelligence biometric integration, new camera ui, rotatable home screen.

We will need to wait, probably after the Android P update.

Samsung usually wont give the new function to older device. So Lets see...
*
The chances are there. For example, most of the Note 8 features already been outported into S8 during their Oreo update. So it's possible that our Note 8 will get the same treatment. The only problem is we need to wait patiently.

Android P?!!?! OMG! I thought we should be getting it on Oreo.
*
Impossible. If they give us these new features in Oreo, then most people will go to buy Note 8 instead of S9. This is a big no no for Samsung.

S9 and Note 8 is about the same except SPen, why Samsung still wants to maintain and develop two models?
*
This tradition may come to an end soon. In recent interview, Samsung mobile head chief DJ koh mentioned that it's possible that S9 is the last S model. There won't be a S10 next year. It's not a final decision yet.

if you're talking about the 700mb ++ one its just optimization and bug fixes

im surprised i received the update.. considering i turned off auto update (even in developer settings)

must be samsung wanting to push this update to be ready for Oreo
*
No bro. It's like that one. Even though you turn off the auto update, the ota message would still come in through no matter what. The only difference is the ota would come a bit late compared to those who already turned on the auto update.

oh i see

so i received 700mb++ because its a compilation of every other updates all together?

then update overall at once?
*
Nope. Samsung won't allow you to update overall at once. When an ota appeared, if you didn't download until the next ota comes out, you will have to download the old ota first, then only can download the new ota.

I can confirm this. Because when I tried to update my sister's note 5 to nougat, I found out she got a lot of back log update waiting inside the system. I had to update 4 times back to back until I got to the nougat ota. Lol.

Anyone experience Instagram and Facebook crashing often?

I have turned off blue light filter and no themes on. Already reformat. Hard reset. Still same.
*
According to couple of users in here, they also have the same issues. Most of them believe that it's not the phone's fault, it's the apps that not yet optimized for the phone.

Don't worry. They sure will give the update to Note 8. We just need to wait. Probably few months at least.

Usually he would only stay in the latest Samsung phone thread. Now S9 is the latest one, so it's normal to see him appears frequently in there. But not sure why now he suddenly active in our Note 8 thread at the same time. Probably because you guys entertained him in S9 thread, so he follows you guys into here. tongue.gif

Anyway, although it's fun to see you guys argue with him, better ignore him lah bro. Later he gets upset and start to post gay pics in here then we all will be doomed. sweat.gif
