Redmi Note 5 Pro or Mi Note 3?

Mi Note 3 have better SoC (SD660)
Mi Note 3 have USB-C
Both have good camera - do not know the difference until there is comparison
Redmi Note 5 Pro is cheaper (speculation since it is not here yet)

I am moving towards Redmi Note 5 Pro cause I don't care about USB-C (have lots of micro usb cable) and the cheaper price which I projected.

Hope they have global ROM version.

lol??? RN5pro better camera???  whistling.gif

currently Redmi 5 plus 4+64GB RM899

RN5Pro price surely more than RM1K++... top up RM100++ can get Mi note 3 d sweat.gif

Oh..I was thinking about Mi A1 vs RN5pro on the camera part. Thanks for correcting me. Mi Note 3 camera is good too but we don't know until someone make the comparison.

I will probably wait few months then decide to get Mi Note 3 or Redmi Note 5 pro. I am moving towards Redmi Note 5 pro because it is top selling in India which means there will be a lot of thirdparty ROM support in the future. Also more likely to get ability to root the phone.

Damn! It's a hot sales in India! Already out of stocks in just seconds.

I wonder if the same thing will happen in here when it comes to Malaysia market.
*
I think it will be hot selling here also like Redmi Note 3 previously. I got this Redmi Note 3 and it is one of the best phone for price over performance. Except it's sucky camera and I still hate Miui.

I think Xiaomi need to stop releasing so many phone models. This Redmi Note 5 Pro is almost the same as Mi Note 3 and Mi 6. They only will saturated their own market further and adding more work for their MiUI team to update firmware for the various models. That is why you see Samsung never update their low to mid range phones. They only update firmware (android version) for their high end models.

My point is, they release too many models until they don't have time to support the firmware. Look at redmi note 3. They promise Oreo for it but until now still no Oreo support.

You sure about the part where they promised about oreo support?

No? I remember reading about this in Xiaomi forum. Maybe it is rumors or unofficial announcement. But I have not been to that forum for a long time.

I wonder why they still bother with releasing a Redmi Note 5 with SD625. To cater for common users who don't know technical stuffs about phones?

Too many stock. FYI,  Xiaomi is the largest customer of Snapdragon. News said they bought a lot of SD 625. Of course they would have to try so hard to clear off the stock.
*
That would make sense! And they have so many models with SD625.

Ughhh... i need this RN 5 Pro released fast lol. My RN3 SD already having GPS problem unable to locked in. Cant use waze or google maps.
*
Is it faulty or due to firmware version? Have you tried reset the phone? Mine is still working very well. I didn't update the firmware for quite some time. I think it is a few version backdated.

Just wondering, why insist on usb-c? The phone does support fast charging on micro usb.

USB type C is reversible and much more durable than Micro USB. Other than that, USB tyoe C comes with USB-PD standard.
*
well, that is hardly a deal breaker, isn't it?

I think for it's price, the good things you get from it far outweight that usb-c. For example, given the choice of good camera vs usb-c, I would choose good camera.

Do your research. Don't buy with impulse. If you are still not sure if they are legit then wait for the phone to launch over here or buy from importers here in Lazada. You still have your phone to use, right? No need to rush. I don't understand why people have to rush to get new techs. So you are number one, and then? Can fly?

Anyway I would wait for Chinese ROM, rather than what fake global rom for now.
It's trouble like those who's bought it from reseller.
*
If they launched it in India, does this means it is global rom? I assume there will be no bloated Chinese apps and will have Google Play. That means if we buy the China launched phone, we can flash it to India ROM?

Someone need to try that out! icon_rolleyes.gif

I will get the 3gb version. Good enough for me as it's my secondary phone.

The seems to focus a lot on the camera feature which is a good thing as all the previous redmi phones have lousy camera and that is the number one complain for most users!

bro, getting a phone is not only for it's specs. That 360 is an unknown brand. What about things like build quality? reliability? screen quality? voice quality? Android version? Firmware upgrade? After sales service? GPS?

I wonder does the picture quality is really that good?
I saw on youtube they even compare it with iphone X....

and given the price, now cannot say mi series is for high end and redmi series is middle range budget phone anymore....
*
Don't believe in some of the reviews as some of them are bias. Like the Mi Explorer program. No doubt the camera quality has improved but I doubt it can compete with iphone X. For example, look at the good initial reviews on the camera on Redmi Note 3. After I got it, I can say it's like shit. Worst that my old iphone 5. If you have no friends and only take pictures of inanimate objects then Redmi Note 3 have good camera. LOL...

I'll reserve my opinion until I see reviews of the Redmi Note 5 camera from more trust-able reviewers.

Small price to pay for saving time. Which is more important? Time or RM50 (battery replacement)? If you really want to save your battery, best way is to charge it up to 85% only.

If you are worry about warranty then just wait for the local set. If you can't wait then don't bother with the warranty. There are no two ways to this. Fast or warranty. Choose one.

I am actually waiting for local importer set or local official set. Depending on the price and availability. At least with local importer, claiming warranty is easier.
