Nokia 7+ is a bit overpriced. No doubt it has good build quality but it is out of my budget of around RM800-RM1000.

Anyway, Malaysia have lower priority because of the limited potential for sales in Malaysia.

And why do you think they have factories in India and Indonesia?

It is about marketing strategy. India is a huge market especially for low cost mobile phones. It is a smart decision for Xiaomi to market their phones there instead of trying to penetrate US or Europe which a lot of other China mobile companies failed such as LeEco. Naturally of course things like JV or building factories are part of the expansion strategies. So even if Xiaomi capture like 50% of mobile phones in Malaysia, do you think they will build a factory here? Definitely not! It's not financially viable.

50% market share in Malaysia vs 10% Indonesia market share, which is more? Where will you invest if you are Xiaomi?

Yeah, China variant better. Camera quality is not only determined by megapixels. Aperture, lense, ISO and so on.

I can see that the prices being sold on imported units are quite reasonable now.

6gb version for 1099
4gb version for 999
3gb version for 799

Hope that official Mi Malaysia version is around that pricing.

But does it cause lagging and slow down to using the phone generally? RAM are meant to be used. If 100% is used but the phone is still smooth then it has good optimization. 6GB for now is still overkill and you will only notice the difference if you do a lot of multitasking. Apple have the best RAM optimization. Hence their iphone can still run smoothly with only 2GB of RAM.

Yes it will be worth the wait. Redmi 5 plus is using SD625. Not a bad processor but it is not as good as SD636 which is double in terms of raw performance. The camera of this Redmi Note 5 is also a massive improvement over other Xiaomi Redmi series phones. One of the best camera for a low cost midrange phone.

The China version which is most probably the version we are getting here support Dual VoLTE.

Wow! That is a serious competition. Asus produces good quality phone. Just that their after sales service is lousy. Also, it's not as popular as Xiaomi. Therefore, getting third party ROM or ROOTING will be difficult. Nonetheless, it is a contender especially when it is going to be pure android. I do not like MIUI!

edit: damn it! Now I have to wait again to see if Asus's phone is better. I really like the pure android being offered and 5000mAH battery! Gorgeous!

Are you talking about RM860 4GB redmi note 5 pro? That's not possible. The 4GB redmi note (not the pro version we have China version) will be around 1000 to 1100 (my prediction).

However, comparing 4gb redmi note 5 and redmi 5 plus, at respective price of RM1099 and RM899, I'll go for redmi note 5 cause the processor of SD636 vs SD625 is double the performance. Meaning the phone will last longer lifetime and playing games will have much better experience.

Look at us, talking about Asus phone on a Xiaomi thread. Someone create the thread for Asus Zenfone already...

Sorry, I meant their after sales service. Lots of horror stories when users send their laptop for repair in Asus Service Centers. So if your phone is faulty, expect some sort of low grade support when claiming warranty. Luckily, the Asus Zenfone 3 that I have so far is working fine. Therefore, I am quite happy with Asus's build quality.

WTH? That's an old model phone. We are talking about the new Zenfone Max Pro M1. It's different from Zenfone 4 or Zenfone 5. There is even a Zenfone Plus Max M1 running mediatek SoC which was launched early this year. Don't be confused.

I am most probably getting both the Asus Zonfone Max M1 (SD430 - low spec model) and Redmi Note 5 (3gb version).

So far, read reviews on Zenfone and here are a few cons that I didn't like:
- camera performance not as good as RN5 (but not that bad)
- pure android is ZenUI based and not like Android One. Updates is from Asus not Google.
- pure android still need optimization. Not that smooth.
- fingerprint unlock is slow

Take note, in Indonesia, they also announce 2 more Zenfone model, Zenfone 5Q and Zenfone Max M1.

Congrats to those who have ordered and item is arriving. I will wait a little to see if Asus Zenfone improve their camera and optimization of android.

When will Mi A2 be launched? Mi 6X will be 27 April but what about Mi A2? If not a too long wait, I can wait. Don't really need a phone urgently. Android One with pure google experience is really enticing for me.

Redmi Note 5 - SD636 - RM999 (4GB/64GB)
Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 - SD636 - RM949 (4GB/64GB)
Mi 6x/Mi A2 - SD660 - RM1000 (4GB/64GB)

Soon, other phone manufacturer will start releasing their phones.
