i know it's wrong to ask this kind of question here, but i'm really in dilemma now. Im thinking to get new phone but undecided which one to choose:
1. RN5 (4GB)
-best price vs performance phone
-lowest camera quality compared to below option
-build quality, but acceptable since this is mid 1k phone
-disappointed because no 6GB version after waited for long
-using well known Snapdragon SOC

2. Mate 10 Pro (6GB)
-reduced price, can get brand new for rm2.6k
-proven battery life
-Gen 1 AI with possibility of getting update/port from P20 Gen 2 AI

3. P20 Pro (6GB)
-latest hype in the market, but battery life is slightly shorter compared to M10P
-best camera phone in the world at the moment
-AI assisted image for night mode, no need tripod

I'm very well versed with MIUI and EMUI so user experience will be not that much issue. I know the price is huge difference, I dont mind investing but at the same time if i can save some bucks why not.

my last xiaomi phone was mi3 and RN3, then i switched to honor 6x. i'm a retired flasholic.

Depends on what is important to you. Camera? Performance? Price? Build-quality? UI?

Redmi note 3 on the left, Note 5 on the right.

user posted image

I know, picture sucks. I would suggest checking out a demo unit and seeing it (color saturation loss on note 5) for yourself.
*
How about you try taking pictures with human in it? I can assure you can tell the difference with the shutter lag in RN3. I am sure you had to hold your hand more stable and longer to take the picture. Ask your friends to stop moving for 3 secs. What about taking pictures of events when subject matters are moving?

Also compare the video qualities.

Enough said.

From the tons of reviews, including those reviewers who are famous and sure it is not paid reviews, they all said the Redmi Note 5 screens are good for it's price. In fact Xiaomi's screen are usually very good.

So for you guys who says the screen have issues, either the batch you bought have some color adjustment issue or you guys are too sensitive with colors. Expecting flagship quality screens? Or OLED?

Don't be duped into buying expensive screen protectors. There are no difference between RM10 screen protector and RM90 screen protector.

Thanks for the thread. Any discount codes in Shopee? Would be great if can get like RM50 discount code.

At RM880, this is a reasonable price for imported set. I am thinking of getting it. Waiting for Asus Zenfone to be released then maybe the price will drop a bit.

Any 3gb user here, want to know any lag for gaming?
*
There will be no difference in gaming with 3gb or 4gb or 6gb UNLESS the game need so much memory that 3gb is insufficient. Memory is currently more for multitasking. When you switch a lot between apps, then you need more memory to store them in the background. If you have less memory, the apps will just need to re-open.

Official Malaysia set is RM799. Only RM13 difference. Might as well get one with local warranty.

Yesterday I was at new Mi concept store at One Utama. Tested the phone briefly.

Camera seems not as laggy as mentioned here. Taking shots are fast. And the firmware is already global 9.5.xx.

Just want to know if the camera lag going to be an issue cause already 2 person complaining about it in this thread. I don't want a phone with this kind of camera lag. I'll might get Asus instead then. Haha..will wait until next month to decide.

I just bought mini RM869 ori Malaysia set 64gb gold set from this seller after apply coupon
http://www.11street.my/productdetail/xiaom...laysia-64778520

Btw, your link is for Ap set?
*
It's gearbest, it's not a Malaysia e-commerce site. Of course it is AP set. If you can get it for RM869, Malaysia set then this is more worth it as only pay a little more to get local warranty.

I agree. Whatsapp uses majority of the space. Mine is about 10gb++ including videos. You know lah, nowadays so many groups and some like to keep sharing videos lol. Now i just delete jer and keep the ones i like lol.
*
If you don't manage your own phone apps and space then even 128GB also not enough for you.

For WhatsApp, set the phone not to download videos automatically. You can decide whether to download or not when you read the message. If you download, after watching either delete or save to gallery if you want to keep it. This way you don't keep junk videos that are large in size. And you can clear groups with lots of medias by deleting the whole conversation because you know you already saved videos and/or photos that you want to keep.

Hi guys,

Just quick question, maybe need a lil bit push from this dilemma.
Redmi Note 5 vs Mi 6x

I read that 6x has no slot for sd card, too bad since it has good camera modules.
The battery from RN5 seems tempting, but I don't mind to charge every night.

>_< thanks!
*
6x does have better camera, if that is important for you. And the reason no sdcard slot is because they need it to be Android One compatible. All Google Android phones, Nexus and Pixel does not have sdcard slot. This is actually better as the OS works better that way. That is pure android way.

However, Mi 6x is slightly more expensive. I would consider only if it's for my main phone. As secondary phone, I am not investing so much.

The main reason to go for 6x is better camera and android one.

Mind to share the reason....cheaper?
*
Yes, price is the main reason. I was aiming for the 3gb model and Asus was selling at RM599. No way RN5 3GB can go up to that kind of price. Even the AP set best price is RM749. The camera for Asus is inferior to RN5 but not by a lot. Especially after you mod it to use Google camera app, it will be on par with RN5. So no other reason for me not to get Asus.

Samsung does and still uses SD SoC for some of their phones.
