no update found for me is it because I unlock booloader d
*
They have suspended the update it seems, which is a norm for Xiaomi, be it a beta ROM or stable ROM. Don't worry you'll still get OTA updates.

any1 can link their rn5 to gmail acc and can find it using FMD? me cannot, and even in google-security-find my device are on. but in security preview the FMD is off and grey out.

my rn5 spec: 4/64 global rom. by from mi official store.
*
No problems here with locked bootloader. Actually, it doesn't matter whether bootloader is locked or unlocked or phone is rooted, FMD should still work. Must be some other issues.

There are 3 variant. India, China and Global. Do note that China and Global has different band support too, so it's 3 variants

Samsung does and still uses SD SoC for some of their phones.
*
yes i know that, that was long ago. But the topic here is about flashing to unlock the bands. Can you do it too? biggrin.gif

I would like to see someone with RN5 china unlock band 20 can? also RN5 global unlock all the bands the china version has.

not really. it just needs the proper components in the phone to work
*
yup to minimize cost of phone, the same goes with network band support as well + royalty fees. People don't simply flash to upgrade in QC or extra network bands laugh.gif

flashing bands was a thing last time due to some licensing issues the manufacturers had. some regions they only had license to some bands even though the hardware was capable of a larger spectrum.

then you had things like what samsung does. different regions, different hardware. hence for people who wanted custom roms they had to flash those drivers  separately
*
yes, flashing bands is a thing of the past, now manufacturers have to follow Qualcomm's game. As for some Samsung models, they may have paid the royalties for those sets without stating the extra bands they support. That's why you see flashing custom roms with experimental drivers is a big pile of messy horseshit affair.

indeed
but if im not mistaken the modems are probably made by huawei. most of them anyway
*
Huawei has to pay royalties to Qualcomm too biggrin.gif . That's why you see there are currently big court cases involving the licensing/royalty fees between Qualcomm and others

Was unbelievable slow/unresponsive if browse heavy websites last few weeks or so. Camera also hang a lot(take long time to open the camera, and take picture also have to wait a few secs to capture, and then have to wait for the picture to save. After the update, much2 better. Like brand new. Hope its not just the effects of wiping dalvik cache or something because then after a while will get slow again.
*
Still on the old firmware. Played abit on the camera just now. Noticed sometimes after taking a photo, it takes a while to save before I can take the next one, not everytime though. Never had the stock camera app starting up slowly though. Also portrait mode is zoomed. I thought portrait mode is supposed to work that way earlier. Full screen gestures is also not that smooth. I guess it's time to update the phone since there are a lot of positive feedback on this new firmware plus it has the lastest security patch as well. thumbup.gif

doubt that. its just pure negligence. flashed to miui eu and its way better. if you want a smoother ride flash to miui pro
*
I see. I've flashed eu ROM on other Xiaomi phones before. If MIUI eu is de-bloated China ROMs, what is the difference with MIUI pro?Are you on MIUI eu or pro?

QUOTE(e_mc_square @ Jun 9 2018, 09:55 PM)
I directly buy from Xiaomi Shop at KLCC. That is 2 pin in the box.
*
Sometimes you would get a 2-pin, so it's a mix bag

I have no problem connecting to PC to transfer file. The problem I'm facing is OTG. It just won't detect anything.
*
No problem here with OTG. Make sure you allow access in the permissions, usually it will prompt you.

I'm on 9.5.6.0. when check, no update available but can download update manually. Why this so?
*
Xiaomi said they took down ROM downloads for maintenance, and it is also affecting OTA as well now. The latest RN5 firmware fixed that hotspot issue it seems.
