All my house non-remote. Some over 30 years, still working.

I see those with remote control, some not even 1 year spoil edi. But remote control type usually got nicer blade design, DC motor, but sked not reliable.

in terms of reliability, regulator type wins~ the wind generated oso more compared to remote type yet cheaper~

fan problem...the fan got used to being overpowered so must stay on 5 because need that much power...1-4 not enough power so cannot move

Walaowei still using non-remote control ceiling fan......

I never use ceiling fan at max speed, it's scary. So just replace a new fan lah.

my house downstares fan all remote, upstairs all regulator. remote is cumbersome (sometimes cannot detect the IR, need to point properly) and i have to change batteries every few months. regulator just works. but regulator need to place right next to switch so can be ugly.

That's why, but I jelly a bit the remote type gets nicer aerodynamic wings, should be quieter and less wobbly. Top spec Panasonic also got DC motor, should be quieter and more energy efficient too.

But thinking about the reliability kills the thought, so nope. Tak nak pening, tak payah fikir, beli je basic regulator type.

The capacitor at the fan is the problem. Try to remove the top and change the capacitor. It is a small black box (smaller than a matchbox). If you can, remove it and buy a new one and replace it.

if cap prob all speed oso kenot spin
also, it can kill u if not discharged properly

I just moved into my own house this year and I installed remote type ceiling fans for living room and regulator type inside the rooms~ coz I prefer more air flow in the room, aircond is only for bringing the temperature down~ furthermore, regulator type fan like KDK oso have colours now like brown and bronze~ so, no more boring white ceiling fans

A brand new fan cost less than RM100. I got a KDK from Home Pro at that price. Even at retail it would cost slightly more. The max at RM130 online. Rather than finding out how or where you could fix the fan, just change it.

Since you lama kasi tinggal it, maybe the contact point on the regulator oxidize or something. Try cleaning it

I got install one of the high-end DC motor Panasonic fan, at higher end speed will still have some noise. It has 8/9 speed but I never went beyond speed 5.

1 thing is KDK & Panasonic uses same PCB maker if batch problem all affected. also cost cutting.

another reason is Remote got limited service time.

and lastly new things more sensitive to unstable voltage.

like Samsung & LG, if your house supply unstable, inverter very easy problem.

CNY balik kampung. Back to my own room.
Found out my room old ceiling fan. Only work at speed no. 5

If select 1-4. All stop working. Like work as no. 0

Is it fan problem or the electric regulator problem?

My dad said he ask repair man. He said it is fan problem.

My thought is since the fan is working on speed no. 5. Should be the regulator problem right?

the new fan only cost rm150...installation dunno how much

Yea, I heard now KDK & Panasonic no longer legendary reliability. Their remote fans easy to spoil.

My Samsung triangle inverter aircond bought in 2014, still works reliably.

Its not an inverter capacitor. So it doesn't store much charge compared to electrolytic caps.
Trust me, I am a servo drive repairman.
