I bought an iphone 7 through a carousell seller, i asked for the receipt and it was given. Before purchasing i did not know “telco sets” existed and people can scam you with them. I should have known earlier.. i’ve been using this phone for 9 months prior to being bought with no problems until recently it showed me no service. Took it into the apple service center and they told me it(my imei) was blocked by telco and went to Maxis Service Center and they told me the owner had an outstanding payment.I tried contacting them but failed of course.. I have their receipt with their personal details.. I was then advised to make a police report. Honestly would a police report help me in my case ? I have plenty of screenshots/evidence and a witness that he sold it to me. I read an old post here about a guy with the same situation as i have, and was also told to make a police report and show it to maxis so that they can unblock their phone.. Not sure if it would work cause the guy did not update sigh. I just wanna know what can i do to unblock my imei :\ besides the illegal way of course (which temporarily works)

You can't it's block IMEI. Even you report police and show maxis the original owner needs to pay the monthly fee according to their contract.

Maxis cant be at loss. If everyone sell their phones and do not pay their bills of the full contract cycle they will be losing money.

You can report for police and hope they take action or contact maxis and check how many months left of their outstanding payment and foot in if it's worth it.

Illegal way we can't teach you because you are at the wrong place to even pretend asking it

That's typical scam with unpaid contract phone bills.

Replace the motherboard can change the IMEI.
Yes this is illegal so I don't condone you to do it.

Plus, it's extremely expensive.

changing the motherboard can be as expensive as paying up the outstanding bill. Check on that first.

I highly doubt so? So everyone get sold phone block by Telco can unlock by police report. Then maxis will at lost if the contract payment not complete.

So someone will get Telco phone pretend sell it off then report police then get unblock free phone then.

If u complete the contract the phone is yours they only block if you have outstanding in your bill because zerolution plan. You can take the phone without paying for the phone.

Only I heard is from maxis.

Last time I bought a phone from someone who bought from celcom, then I called celcom asking them what will happen if the seller didn't pay to celcom.

The celcom rep told me that is between celcom and the seller. They are not going to lock the phone.

Hi everyone. I bought an iPhone X about 10 months ago. Now the phone suddenly cannot be used due to Telco locked. I called the seller but he had blocked my call. WhatsApp him also no replay at all. I called Celcom careline & provide them seller contact number. Unfortunately, the seller number I given to Celcom is not under their account. I’m also given IMEI number to Celcom support person but they can’t do anything without original owner contact number in Celcom. What can I do now? If seller gone, this phone cannot be used anymore?
