Wow, quite a huge bump for just passing probation. Most people salary won’t change or just slight increment

Congrats!

Thanks smile.gif
Maybe they afraid for me to leave, being entrusted on quite a critical component of the company business. But workload is still fine though

Hi, anyone know what is current Malaysia market salary for a Software Engineer Internship working on Machine Learning, AI area? and How would the salary grow?

my assumption:

internship offer: below 1k
probation period: 2k - 3k
full time (for at least 1 year/ executive Level): 3k-3.5k
Senior Level (around 2-3 years) : above 4k
*
Quite mild assumption that you made here. I would say it is average. But if you know what company to look for, you will get a lot more. Some of my classmate even got more than 2k for internship on AI. But need to be very skillful la. Me also after 6 month prob already got above 4k, although being fresh grad without prior experience. It all depends on your skill and performance, and company also la smile.gif

So in your case, your achievement are because of your Upper Average skill and Upper Tier Company?
*
My skill I would say is only a little bit more than average. But my boss keep praising on the attitude, so maybe that's the main reason of the hefty increment

Considering your experience I think you could get around 25%-35% more than your current salary, or even more if you could prove yourself in the interview. Any particular technology/prog language that you are advance in? Related certificate/training that you got?

May I know I am underpaid or still doing well for age 26 years old? The reason why I accept the upcoming job is because I really need to move my salary to 4.3k above in order to commit house loan and also getting prepared to get married this july.

Also need some insight what is actually Associate level? Is it executive or Assistant Manager level? Since based on the JD I need to manage quite a lot. Altho I asked during the interview but it is not clear enough.
Thank you.

*
Seems a bit underpaid imho. On age 24 with 1 year exp I already got 4.8k inc allowance. But doing java backend, bit different. You should be able to get above 5k with 3 years of exp I suppose. But that also depends on your skillset and how you sell yourself to the interviewer

Got my 2nd increment in 1 year I'm with this company. Pretty decent I think. No longer short distance to workplace as I have move bit far (37km) from work. But not an issue for me as I rode motorcycle everyday and just take 30m to reach office. Migh be considering to jumpship in another 6 month or 1 year depending on the economy state during that time. Just bought a 513k terrace house and need to start paying in 2 year, I might have to increase my earning to pay the loan comfortably smile.gif

RM5300 is enough to get a loan for RM513k house? Really?
*
I applied when my salary was still 4500 actually. Don't have any other commitment though. Car finish payment already. Also surprised when it was approved, just trying my luck during that time. But then it is still few years until completion and starting loan payment around 2.5k/m. I think I can manage if increase my earning bit more in 2 years. thumbsup.gif

What did you guys earn as fresh grad or at the beginning of your careers? curious to know. I'd imagine someone who earned like 4k or 5k at the begginning would have an easier time reach 10k with 5 to 6 years of experience or before the age of 30.
*
3.5k on 2019 age 23. In 1.5 yrs got to 5k already. Expecting to get up to 7k in 2 years time but need to work hard to get it

Same company. First increment was after finish probation, straight got 1k more. 2nd one got another 500 for yearly increment after performance review.

Hi guys, not sure the correct thread to ask this or not but how much should a fresh graduate for bachelor of software engineer should aim for salary wise and is startups company better or well established company is better in terms of gaining experience ?.

Thanks in advance.
*
3k to 4k is good depend on size of company. 3.5k is normal for large company like banks, mnc like accenture, petronas, Schlumberger, etc. To get more exposure, I would advise getting into startup as you will learn more due to fast work environment. Startup that backed up by large company is the best for example Setel(petronas), TNG Digital(touch n go/cimb), Boost(axiata), etc. Make some research on the company's background and stakeholders to know

One of my friend is working in a big company but with only 3k and be over work like hell lol.

I see, ill look into more startup company that has a bigger company backing them up. Thanks !
I'm currently aiming for startups more as least for the first year or so to get more experience than only change to a well established company for a higher salary. Thanks anyway
*
Don't worry, I also work at startup(kinda) and already reaching 5k after almost 2 years in company with starting salary of 3.5k as fresh grad. Work your way up and prove your worth thumbup.gif

Yup. Straight 30% increment after finish 6 month probation. I was also not expecting that much of an increase. But looking at other fresh grad colleague entering same time as me also getting the same, that rate might be company standard

Nice haha. I'm currently looking more towards front end developer more. Don't know whether this will make the salary they offer slightly lower or not compare to full stack developer

In my department I think the salary seems to be the same front end and back end developer as our grade and job title is the same. Not sure other company though

Hi guys! I'm a fresh graduate who majored in Artificial Intelligence. I need some advice regarding the salary.
May I know is there anybody involved in Artificial Intelligence engineer or Machine learning engineer. What is the salary for a fresh grad and the increment?
After reviewing many comments, I found that there is no person sharing the experiences of the following position.
Ya, thank you for your advice!
*
UM graduate? AI scene in Malaysia is not as advanced and much sought of as in other high income country but there are AI focused company here. Few of my friends grad of AI degree also went to China where it is so advance there and lots of opportunity. But for your context, usual salary range for normal software dev is around 3.5k and if specialised in AI dev or research would be around 4k-4.5k (depends on the company). But maybe a bit hard to find company looking for AI dev amongst freshie. My advice is take any decent offer for software developer job for experience and then jumpship to AI field. Opportunities should be more that way.

But if pro enough and got extensive experience in AI, can try your luck and skill and go for it.
