Well that's not based on forumer's tale, but rather is what we witness and experiencing all these while. Our salary can never keep up with inflation and every year is getting harder and tougher to live with your stagnant or minimal increment salary.

I do not think you will get more than 10% increment in your annual increment unless a promotion, but you could request a minimal of 15% increment when you hop to another company.

For my case, I had 3% increment for 2017 and 2018, is not even 10% in total. Plus politics and unhealthy segregation of work task in MNC, I decided to move on to another industry instead.

I understand the increment when jumping ship, it makes yourself more competitive in the market by bringing in experience and knowledge from the previous company.

I have been avoiding this thread for many years. I posted twice and I am ashamed to say that my salary is still stagnant. I am very ashamed of myself and the salary I made. I need some input so i could get out of this salary bracket.

I have been working for 7 years starting as a normal Admin to E-commerce Sales cum Admin for the last 5 years. I dont consider myself knowledge in every aspect of what an E-Commerce employee should have. My skillset is more of mixed here and there. I Worked in a medium sized Chinaman company (previous) and startup company (current) so we need to do a lot of things including Cleaning every week like mop the floor, clean the toilet, etc 😫

I am so lost and demotivated. I live in Ipoh with my family. It is not that I dont want to work in KL/SG, it is just that my parents are in their early 70 now and I am not young anymore. It is not an excuse but my heart is not there. I was once away from home for a week in KL and my father was in hospital. I was so worried that I kept calling my mum to check on him.

I am looking forward to attend workshops and trainings to upgrade myself but I dont know where to start 😔

- Team structure is relatively flattish and your value is entirely dependent on your own franchise a.k.a. recognition from the clients and how much they value your input and ideas, also the intensity of the services provided
- The revenue pie is definitely shrinking as clients are gradually cutting the brokerage rates to reduce trading cost and also due to the onset of algo trading and more DMA-based trading. Therefore, the stockbroking career isn't as lucrative as what it was years ago. The current mundane market also does not help
- Since research reports are more or less viewed as being commoditized due to the sheer amount of analysts covering the same set of companies, the challenge is always about how to provide value-added insights to the industry
- The best perk is that I can dictate my own entire work and pace, hence the flexibility in when and where I do my work. This could also backfire as there are no concrete deadlines on our work

Would suggest you try for 6k (to get market rate), but if your future employer is not able to offer that, I think you can also accept min 5k.

It’s a bit tricky for you because, most employers will look at your present salary then offer a % of increment, so in your case the chances of getting 6 might be quite low unless you are very strong in your skill sets and negotiation.

Having said that, I would say 5 is the minimum. But I would advise you to make a switch asap if your present employer can’t offer more (you won’t be able to ask for much more from your next employer even if you stay an extra year in your current place, because most will offer based on your existing salary)
