Hi, I'm currently using the free router which came with the Unifi 100Mbps package which is the TP-Link AC1200. However, it seems that either due to bad firmware or generally just my routers problem I'm having alot of problems like bad wifi connection or overload (can't cnnect) and router's cpu constantly at 100%.

I would like to know if theres any recommendation for other routers which support dual band and gigabit connection. Have a budget of RM 350-450.

Thank you very much biggrin.gif

True bro, I get tired of this after a while. They have to learn to do their own research on which router is compatible and what budget they have and buy accordingly.

the thing is there are no pinned threads in this section.

the mother of unifi issues has got to be "i have bad wifi in my house with unifi, what do i do?".

so, a new thread pops up every week.

I agree with you. But, what are the chances that a user will even read the pinned thread and sort things for themselves? They would rather ask and get a quick answer than read and research. If they have done that, new post wouldn’t be created each week about the same issue.

at least someone can easily point him/her to that specific thread.

as it is, only some people will remember some of the recent discussions and where.

will forget later also...

that unifi thread is all rojak with too many things - routers, modems, hyppbox, wifi, extenders, wiring, pricing, contract...400 pages some more!! biggrin.gif

since on router,

what to ask,

If my router is old type 2.4Ghz only from unifi package
If I were installed TP-Link Powerline Extender(Wi-Fi) TL-WPA8630P KIT, by theory,

I should get only 2.4Ghz working and 5Ghz redundant
or not working at all?

What are you talking about? TP-Link powerline extender extends your 2.4 and 5GHz connection, and won't affect it in any way. You can disable 5GHz on the powerline extender, and only have 2.4GHz, if that's what you mean.

Just as what SilentVampire bro stated, it has nothing to do with your router's wireless functionality. Even if your router does not have wireless function, you can still enable the 2.4 and 5Ghz Wi-Fi feature on your power line.

thanks guys.

So what you saying by buying TP-Link Powerline Extender(Wi-Fi) TL-WPA8630P KIT, connected it to my router by network cable and I can use it as 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wireless hotspot, regardless my router don't have wireless or just 2.4Ghz only?

Yes bro, but connection might not be too good with powerline. Best thing to do is to buy a better router with the amount you are going to spend on the powerline, unless you are already using a high end router.

Get a Mikrotik RB750Gr3 router, <300, and keep the C1200 as the wifi AP.
